Vale raised his hands and made no struggle against Urahara. "Stop it, Kisuke!" Vale narrowed his eyes at the man who still had a hold of him. "What happened? I won't let you put me back in that cell. You will not. What are you accusing me of and why?"

"Because your ass was in Las Noches a month ago. You can't hide that Vale. I was there a few days ago. You. The God Alister, and that God DAMN new Demon was there." He pushed Vale back until his back was against the counter.
"Now. You fess up or I find out the truth the hard way." He looked Vale in the eyes. "Your choice, Vale."

Vale pushed Urahara away from him with narrowed eyes. He looked past Urahara, making sure that no one was out side of the shop. "Damn god." Vale looked at his hands. They were shaking. "I had a dream, I was back in Las Noches. Everyone was there..." Vale looked at the floor, wide eyed. "Then, I was in the barracks of the Seventh Division. So many dead..." He looked to Urahara. "I woke up, and he was looming over me in my living room. He said he had given me back my memories...Even ones I had I didn't know I had. I got angry..."
Vale sighed heavily, as he dropped into a nearby chair. "We ended up in Las Noches." He shook his head. "It's a blur, Kisuke."

"If you like your freedom, Vale, you better make it clear." Kisuke told him through gritted teeth. "My orders are to return you to Soul Society if you had returned to being a soul reaper. Again. Tell me what happen?"
Vale shook his head. "I told you. He made me remember...everything. I had no memory of why I killed..." His words trailed off as he slammed a fist into the counter. "He told me, I was a good puppet..."
Kisuke looked to Vale, his eyes still narrowed at the man. "So you know everything you have done? Past and present?" Vale nodded. "And what of your powers?"
Vale was about to answer when Kisuke cut him off, "don't lie. I will find out no matter your answer. So you might as well tell me the truth now and get it past you. It could even help in your defense against your crimes against Soul Society if they decide to press your arrest."

"All of it..." Vale slammed his fist into the counter again. The counter shook, spilling the empty and occupied glass vases. "Everything...I remember everything. I was going to tell you. But, you already didn't trust me. And, I have that unfortunate relationship with that cell of yours."
Vale stood from his seat and looked Urahara square in the eyes. "Alister and I fought. I don't know why he would let me fight him but he did. I was so fucking angry. I could still be a Captain, Kisuke...Had he not interfered...If Kyoraku wants to lock me up, let him. I'm no threat to anyone. Except maybe hollows and a god. I am rather fond of my life as a human."

Kisuke stepped up and locked eyes with him, "you did not answer my question, Tervaden. What? About. Your. Powers."
Vale shook his head. "I have none. He took them from me again. With the condition that if you all needed me, my power would return. That was my condition. The god had one of his own. That my power would return when and every time I step foot in Las Noches." Vale raised a hand. "I haven't been back. Don't worry."
Kisuke stepped back from him, turned and walked toward the door. "Don't leave town. I will report this to Kyoraku, he will decide your fate from here." Kisuke turned at the door and tipped his hat slightly with a wide cheerful smile. "Have a good day, Vale."

Vale watched as Urahara left the shop. He clenched his fists until his knuckles whitened and his hands began to bleed. More Lies. For what? To protect who? You really are content with this simply life...Why jeopardize it? Why?
He looked out of the window and sighed heavily. "What now, Captain?"

"A Climbing Rose":Yumiko pushed the door open as she re-entered the greenhouse portion of the shop with another potted rose in her hands. She'd kept to her promise of giving Vale a chance and had started to spend a couple hours a day helping with the shop when in Karakura. It was peaceful work. Smiling slightly, she slipped past the table holding the tools to the shelves and carefully slipped the pale pink rose back into its place. It was drooping slightly again. She chuckled, reminded of another rose, wilted and blood-spotted. Hearing Vale curse from another section of the garden, she maneuvered more tables and out the back to the shaded backyard. Vale was wrestling with a climbing rose, swaying with crowns of red-violet petals. Chuckling, she stepped nearer and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Need a hand?"

Vale slipped on the table he was standing on, as he looked over in Yumiko's direction. He landed on his ass and started cursing and shouting as he got up. "Hello, Rose." he said, dusting himself off. Looking to the climbing flower, he pointed. "I'm tempted to leave it be. And, tend to another rose."
He smiled, extending his hand toward Yumiko. "How are you today, Miss Ryouma?"

Yumiko took it and helped pull him up. "I am well today. Thank you, Mr. Tervaden," she replied, with a bite of sarcasm. She didn't like it when Vale called her that now - after their night together - but for some reason, he tended to keep doing that. "And if you leave the rose alone, it will become more unruly like the last one, won't it?" she inquired sweetly. Yumiko kissed a bruise on his arm, healing it, and stepped back. "The ladder might make reaching it easier, too."

"I don't mind one unruly rose." Vale shrugged with a smile. "So...Am I still your dirty little secret, love? Or, have you decided to tell Kita about us?" He took a hand towel from his back pocket and wiped his hands and face. "Minus the part about me having my memories, of course. Though, Kisuke may have told her by now."

Yumiko blushed. “Do you have to call it that?” she murmured.
“So you are?” he prompted.
No, she hadn’t. And she wasn’t quite sure why.
Yumiko turned around and walked over the ladder filled with potted plants to get the sun. She set them down on the ground and pulled it over to the troublesome rose. “It’s … it just hasn’t come up,” she continued, pulling her gloves on. She gathered her skirt in one hand and climbed up, ducking her head to keep the thorns from catching in her hair.

"Really?" asked Vale. "It hasn't come up? What would lead to you even saying it? Are you two going to be looking at a book a lady things and you blurt it out?" Vale held onto the ladder and looked up at Yumiko. "That's a beautiful kimono." he began in a feminine tone. "And, Vale and I are seeing each other. And, he wants me to stay with him while I'm in Karakura Town. Because, he really really really really likes me. And, doesn't want to let me go. I'm important or something." Vale smiled and looked down to the floor.

Even as her cheeks heated up, Yumiko laughed lightly at his imitation and his moment of shy emotions. Stepping down a step, she touched the hand holding the ladder up, waiting for him to look up. “I will tell her first. I will. And Orihime. And I do care for you.” Her blush deepened as she grinned and looked down. “A lot a lot a lot,” she said, copying him. She turned to climb up the ladder again. “But I don’t know how others would take it. I - I want to enjoy this…. without anything attached…”

"Without anything attached?" questioned Vale, looking away again.
Yumiko looked down at him. "Expectations or worries."
Vale looked up again, smiling at Yumiko. "I understand that, Yumiko. But, you know that they're not going to be happy about it. I'm Vale Tervaden, after all. And, you are a noble." Vale looked down again with a sigh. "Just don't wait too long, okay? I don't want to be that guy you kept secret out of fear. Oh. Wait..."
