"Enduring Hope": Kita laid on the cot next to Gin as he was laid out on the floor where Lumina and Verona dropped him, a trail of blood from his beaten body that led anyone straight to their cell. She tried pushing up from the cot in a failed attempt. Her injuries were too serious from being flung into the wall by Kagawa for her to move her body at the moment, but at least it was only a few broken bones, cuts and bruises she suffered from. Her head turned slightly looking back to Gin, she did not suffer near as much as her lover had. With a groan Kita laid there and starred at the ceiling, concentrating on her major injuries and restoring her strength.
"Hang in there, my Love. I have to heal myself some before I can tend to your injuries." She whispered into the silence of the cell.
Hours later, Kita still laid on the cot, but was finally able to lift her arms, move her legs and even push up into a sitting position on the cot. However, it was rest she needed so she laid herself back on the cot letting very little healing power flow through her person so to regain her strength faster. With her eyes closed, she relaxed and put herself back into a meditating state of mind.
Time ticked past, her hours feeling like days as she lay there still, trying to recover her strength. Her internal injuries now healed, but the surface still marred and bloody. Quickly her head turned in hearing Gin groan and seeing his broken body twitch. With a groan of her own Kita pushed up from the cot and went to her hands and knees crawling toward Gin. Once next to him she lifted her hand to touch him to brush his blood incrusted bangs from his eyes as she hesitated then touched him gently. He groaned again.
"Gin... Gin..." Kita called out softly to him from her mind as she searched his body looking at his injuries with her healing powers. "Don't move, my Love. I will have you fixed in no time. Please just lay there and let me take away your pain."
Tears rolled down her cheeks as she realized the extent of his damage. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and touched his dislocated shoulder with one hand and his dislocated elbow with the other. "No matter how I do this, Love it is going to hurt. Bear with it for a moment." At that Kita popped both back into place, Gin's body jerking from the intense pain.

Gin cursed succinctly, blood spitting from his ripped up mouth and sending up more lances of pain through his mangled corpse. He fell back down hard, wheezing as the pain brought him closer to consciousness. Gritting his teeth, he pushed himself further, away from oblivion. The one good eye blinked open and stared up at his light, blinking even more as her tears fell down on him.
He chuckled hoarsely. “Not my best day, was it?” he whispered back through their connection, voice laced with exhaustion and acute pain. He wanted to raise a hand but could barely feel anything in either limb. In fact, only one leg had survived the furious Ayakashi’s assault. He coughed again. “I’m a bloody mess and you’re looking worse weeping when you’re still covered in blood, love. Neither of us is going to die, so calm down.” He closed his eye. “Aizen-san wouldn’t allow it this soon.”
He opened his eye again as her hand pressed down on the burns on his face and he managed a weak smile. “Dearie, I won’t forgive you if you leave yourself defenseless from healing me, you know that, right?”

"Shut up!" Kita growled at him. "I am not going to leave you here like this." She moved her hands over his bad eye starting the healing there after his arm was relocated. "My healing will not save my ass. I am as defenseless as a new born baby without Sumi, and like you just said; we are not going to die. Not today." She lifted her hands and looked at Gin's healing eye as it reformed slowly, she continued to let the healing take care of it further.
More tears fell a couple falling to Gin's bare arm as Kita shook her head. "How did they know? How did they know I was defenseless? It's not like I flaunt Sumi's powers. I always keep them concealed so not to attract unwanted visitors."
She looked at Gin's eye again as the eye itself was starting to form and the blue of his eye was showing again. Small traces of blood still streaked the eyeball and the lids swollen, black and blue.
All of a sudden Kita blurted out, "and I am healing the wounds completely! No scars!" She informed him with a forceful tone causing her voice to echo off the walls in the cell.

A voice laughed shortly in her mind. “Trying to alert the guards to your stubbornness, love?” Gin teased, shaking his head slightly. As she glared at him, he smiled and closed his eyes. “You’re impossible to argue with at the moment, so I better save the effort.” He laid back, drifting in the darkness of his mind, soaking in her warmth, as her healing powers slowly reknit his beaten up body.
When he opened them again, he set a weak hand on her knee. “I mean it, dearie,” he whispered with a hoarse voice. “Save some powers for later.” He continued his argument in his mind. “We have yet to figure out how we’re getting out of here or what’s really in store for us. And I doubt I will be in a shape to carry you.” He winced as Kita pressed harder on another break and smirked. “Do I have to make you, dearest heart?”
“You can’t when you can barely move,” she pointed out in a terse whisper. "And stop talking," she retorted through their link. "You're still bleeding there."
Gin shook his head again and squeezed her knee. “I guess I’ll leave myself to your tender care….”
He fell silent once more, hesitating before letting enough light into his mind to reach out to his zanpakuto. A faint nip answered. Gin smiled and held on, slowly feeling out and healing from that particular wound to his psyche. He didn’t need to share that with his lover. His hand quivered as rage threatened to wash over him, but he pushed it back. There would be time enough for that …. later.

While Gin laid in his own little trance, Kita continued healing him ignoring his warning of putting herself in a weakened state. She knew he was right about them not dying, Aizen needed them. Though she refused to oblige with his reasons or reasoning. She would not bow to that man no matter how much he tortured her. She would not give him what he wanted. Not now, not ever. Shaking her head she continued on with her healing. Taking her time and make sure she did not overexert herself. She could not fully heal Gin. She had to keep him weak not only for sake of show, but she knew if he was back to full strength, he would fight anyone that step in that cell and tried to remover her from his side. She could not allow that. He had suffered enough, for whatever reason. He had suffered enough.
After a few hours of still healing him, she had found she had reshaped and relocated all broken or dislocated bones. His eye was fixed, all but the swelling and the bruise, his body though left little to be desired with all the rips, cuts, gashes and puncture wounds, but at least he could move with a little less pain. She then concentrated on the gash on his face from the corner of his lip to his ear. That was was the worst of the wounds in her book. A little deeper and it would have cut clean through the flesh straight to the bone or in this case into his mouth. Feeling a little light headed she pulled back a hand, placing it to the side of her head, her eyes closing for a moment, but as her luck would have it, that was when Gin decided to open his eyes.
"You have gone too far. Stop," he demanded of her.
Dropping her hand and opening her eyes, she looked to her lover changing the subject. "How is your vision, Love?" A warm smile spread across her lips as she let her free hand rest lightly to the top of his chest.

“My vision is fine,” Gin snapped at her, not letting her change the subject. He moved his hand from her knee to her hand, holding it. “You will stop healing now, or I will use what little energy you’ve restored in pinning your body down to keep you from doing anything else.” As she giggled, he narrowed his eyes at her. “Kita, I’m serious. Cease using your powers on me and finish healing yourself.”
Her smile faded into another frown. “You’ve gone through enough, Gin,” she stated, “and I-”
“- And I am able to endure more,” her lover interrupted, squeezing her hand. “I have you and Sojiro. I have more than enough reasons to withstand his torture and mind games. You, on the other hand, need all the energy you can give yourself to prepare for Aizen. You haven’t seen him on the path for vengeance.” The voice in her head quieted. “Not yet.” He squeezed her hand again. “Please, my love, do this for me.”
He wouldn't come out and tell her that he was terrified of what his former master would do to her this time. After they both had been instrumental in his 'death'. Even if she had to live through it for his plans, Aizen was a master of the darkness. And so far.... he had stayed his hand with Kita. He trusted her, but sometimes, it wasn't a matter of strength... or will... to survive. He turned his head, mind unwillingly going over his own lessons on that matter.

Appearing outside the cell, Takeo looked in at the two on the floor. Their eyes were locked in a silent conversation between them as he remained silent himself. Giving them a few more seconds he spoke up, but not aloud, he spoke to them through the woman's connection she had with the Gods and her loved ones.
"Miyamoto, Ichimaru." Both looked his way quickly as the male known as Gin Ichimaru tried pushing himself up to a sitting position on the floor. His eyes narrowed, wondering who the man in transparent white with a hooded mask was. The female, Kita Miyamoto placed her hand on the man's shoulder to keep him down. "I see the Noble woman, Ryouma has not been to see you." He grew silent for a moment folding his hands behind him, looking pointedly at Kita.
Watching as Kita looked to Gin then back to him, she shook her head in compliance to his question. "Who are you?" she asked him.
"Who I am is not of importance. Just know I am not here to harm either of you in any way. As for now; call me Takeo." He told them, "I only follow the orders of my Master and until his orders change, you are both safe with me."
Kita's eyes narrowed as she grumbled, "You mean Aizen?"
Takeo's head nodded slightly and then it shook. "It is--complicated. However, I need you to trust me." He looked to Kita once more. "You are growing stronger as an individual, Miyamoto. This is good; for you will need it in these next few weeks. The Goddess has been blocked and cannot reach you. You will have to stand on your own, Miyamoto." He paused again looking to Gin but spoke to her, "And live."

Kita kept her eyes on the form just outside the cell her hand still firmly on Gin's shoulder. "You want us to trust you but you don't tell us why or who you really are, and how do you know Sumi is blocked from me? Kisuke made sure that could never happen."
"I am sorry I cannot tell you more, but know this--I know Sumi cannot reach you because of the void surrounding us. At the moment you both are weakened so you cannot feel the change in the palace, but as long as the palace remains in the void Sumi will not be able reach you." Takeo explained to her.
Kita's head shook slightly as she slowly turned her eyes from Takeo to Gin, "This don't make sense. I have been in plenty of voids. What makes this one any different?"
Gin's eyes narrowed. "Let's think," he hissed. "Who is a part of Aizen's army?" He paused and then continued in a brittle tone. "That shadow's a damned wild card that you can't combat with his ugly pet god loading the dice. Either Vale thought of this or Alister is still accepting pacts from Aizen. Neither are good thoughts, which means you need to heal yourself now."
Takeo shook his head slowly, "the God of Fire only placed the palace in the void at Aizen's orders, it was Aizen that found this bit of information out." Takeo looked quickly to his left, "I must go," he said in a rush, "speak of this to no one." Takeo vanished without a trace of him being there.
Kita sighed in frustration when Takeo vanished from the prison leaving them alone once more. "So many more questions. I don't understand." She looked to Gin and stood, leaning over she wrapped his arm around her neck and started to help him to his feet. "Lets get you on the cot. The floor is no place for you with those wounds."

Gin mumbled something to himself about it not really mattering either way but knowing better than to argue with her before rising with her assistance. It took them much too long to get him laid out on the cot with enough space for Kita to sit at his head, and for a few moments longer, Gin dared to stay silent, riding out the pain from the adventure. But he couldn’t stay silent long.
“I love you,” he whispered, voice scratchy.
“I told you not to speak,” she whispered back through their connection. She smiled warmly. “I love you, too, and I’ll be careful.”
Gin chuckled. “You better be. Are you healing yourself?”
“Yes, nosy.”
“Thank you.”

It was not long after the two settled in on the cot, Kita petting the silver hair of Gin's as he slumbered with his head on her lap. She too took advantage of the moment and closed her eyes letting her healing powers flow through her. The moment, though different, reminded her of the times Sojiro would nap with his head in her lap when he was younger. A single tear trickled down her cheek.
"Take care of him Kisuke. We are counting on you." Kita said softly in the silence of the room.

"I am sure your son will be very happy to see you both are still alive. He should be joining us soon enough." Aizen's smooth silky voice traveled across the cell to their ears. He chuckled softly as both of them sat up at attention to his coming.
Aizen focused on Gin as Kita placed a hand to his back, his eyes narrowing slowly. "Well now. I guess I should have a talk with Yumiko. She was not to heal you. Only Kita."
"You leave Yumiko alone!" Kita barked at him, her own eyes narrowed at him, "she had nothing to do with this!"
Aizen raised a brow, "really now. So who by chance did? You are without the Goddess, so whom shall I be talking with about this little deed?"

“Perhaps you don’t know all the secrets there are about the universe, Aizen,” Yumiko stated in a neutral tone. Dressed quickly with her hair down, Yumiko still kept calm as he turned to her. Any fear or worry she’d felt at following the thick trail of blood slipped further into her mind, past the stillness she had learned to adopt after decades of being sealed. “I had not healed them yet because it took longer to recall which direction to go.”

Aizen looked from Yumiko toward Kita and Gin once more. "Then you tell me how they are healed?" He looked back to Yumiko, eyes narrowed, "and don't feed me the the line about the secrets of the universe. That has nothing to do with what happened here."
“Ask your brother,” the noble replied. “Do you think he left them unprotected?”
Before Yumiko could react Aizen struck her, backhanded, across the face. "I put nothing past that man," he looked back at the couple as he opened the cell, grabbing Yumiko by the arm as she held her cheek, Aizen shoved her into the cell. He walked in behind her making a path over to Kita and Gin. Now grabbing Kita by her wrist, he jerked her from the cot as she sat next to Gin, Gin trying to stand as Aizen forced him back into place where he was.
Walking back toward the cell door, tugging Kita behind him he shoved her from the cell. Stepping out with her he locked the cell door behind them leaving Yumiko locked inside the cell with Gin. "Entertain the man, my dear. While I tend to Kitten."
The click of the lock echoed off the walls as Aizen smirked at the two behind the bars. He looked to Gin, his smirk still in place. "I will try to send her back in one piece." Aizen turned and grabbed Kita by her arm just above her elbow as he jerked her to attention and turned her forward to walk out of the prison.

Her stillness fleeing at the fist violent act, her ire rose up with his order to ‘entertain’ Ichimaru. Glaring at Aizen’s turned back, Yumiko gave in to the urge to call out to her first and best friend. “You’re better than he is, Kita. Don’t give up.” Kita didn’t reply. Yumiko’s stomach clenched and she touched her throbbing cheek. Her head was spinning. She didn’t like being locked up. Slowly, her hand fell to her zanpakuto, for comfort. At first. Her grip tightened as a voice in her mind tempted her to blow the cell wide open and attack the man. She lifted blade slowly out. Gin grunted. She looked up. He shook his head marginally. Yumiko released her blade and leaned against the cold wall, her heart pounding. “Please be safe, Kita….” She wrapped her arms around herself and hid her face, thinking back to the relative peace of Vale’s presence. This wasn’t her fault, but that didn’t stop herself from shaking. The blood still thick in the air kept her tears at bay. Ichimaru stayed silent, tapping his bruised healing fingers along his arm.

"A Welcome Reunion" (continued):Time had crawled past as both people waited for the bloody return. The stillness of the prison thickened as the blood in the cell dried, and neither helped Yumiko’s state of being. Being locked up this soon after all of her memories had been restored - all those years of nothing but darkness and the weight of the cuffs - only increased her turmoil regarding the whole situation. From Soul Society to Vale to Kita. The darkness seemed to portend failure or even more pain, too. She took another shallow breath that hissed out as the prison doors opened. Standing shakily to her feet - one leg had fallen asleep in the interim - she looked to Ichimaru, who opened his eyes.
