"Loyalty:" (Continued) Vale sheathed his blade as he entered the room. He looked to the bassinet holding Kadaj, as the baby began to cry out. The bassinet began to rock gently. "Hey, little one. I'm here." whispered Vale, as he stepped closer to the bassinet. As he stepped closer, small bright purple eyes rose from the bassinet. Startled, Vale took a step back. The pair of eyes belonged to a black snake that was coiled beneath his son. Vale grunted as he stepped toward the bassinet. "What are you doing in here?" he asked, reaching for the snake. The snake stretched out, its fangs nearly catching Vale's hand as it coiled back toward Kadaj. Swaying side to side, the snake continued to gently rock the bassinet until Kadaj had stopped crying. Vale's eyes narrowed a he watched the snake rest its small head on his son's belly. "You're one of them. Aren't you?"

"I am." Akui hissed, raising her head slightly. "I am called Akui." Her tongue flickered quickly, as she reted her head to Kadaj's belly again. "You...Are Vale Tervaden."
Vale nodded, reaching for his son again. But, again, the snake stretched out at him. This time, the snake latched onto him. Vale pulled his hand away. "Get out! Get away from my son!"
"I was charged with protecting your son." hissed Akui. Her small eyes narrowed. "Even from you."
"You gods are on my nerves." grunted Vale, holding his hand. "All of them!"
"I am a demi-god, Tervaden. And, regardless of your disdain for gods, I am here to serve and protect Kadaj Tervaden. Everyone else is insignificant. Meaningless. And, disposable."

"Disposable?!" shouted Vale. Kadaj began to cry again, as the snake raised her head and hissed loudly.
"I will warn you only once, Tervaden." hissed Akui. "Lower your voice." She coiled beneath the child lying on top of her, until he had been lulled back to sleep.
"We are not disposable! This is my son we are talking about. Neither Kita, myself or Sojiro are disposable. Not even Ichimaru." Vale stepped toward the bassinet and picked up his son, despite the snake biting at his hand. "Leave."
"No."
Vale turned his back to the snake as it slid out of the bassinet. "No? I am entitled to be alone with my son. Even from you."

Akui slithered along the floor, until she reached Tervaden. She then shifted in form, taking a more human form. "You may protest my existence. I don't care. But, you will heed my warnings, Tervaden." Placing a hand to Tervaden's back, Akui turned Tervaden and took the child from him as he fell to the ground.
"What the fuck did you just do to me?" growled Vale.
Akui looked down at Tervaden, her expression unchanging as she rocked Kadaj in her arms. "Have you forgotten the sting of having a snake behind your back, Tervaden?"

Vale groaned as he looked up to the woman before him. His vision blurred as the woman shifted in form again. This time, taking a familiar form. "Kita?" He squinted in an attempt to see. "Kita. Get Kadaj. Akui has him."
"I am no more Kita Miyamoto," said Akui. "Then you are, Gin Ichimaru. Though, I do find it interesting that you find comfort with me in this form." Akui's form shifted again. "How about this one?"
Vale closed his eyes. "What game are you playing, goddess? Leave my son be." He called for Kita. For Sojiro. For Kita, again. But, no one came. "Kita..."
"Interesting. Even in the form of the woman you love, you still seek out Miyamoto." Akui turned, placing Kadaj back into his bassinet. "You fear me, Tervaden. As you very well should. But, it is not what hold I can put on your future that bothers you. It is the revealing of your past. Something that has remained hidden from most."
"Shut up!" Vale twisted on the floor. "Shut up!"

Akui's form shifted once more, taking the form of a snake again. Tervaden's screaming stopped, as she slithered onto his chest. She lifted her head and hovered over him. "You weak minded fool." she hissed. "You will survive. However, my warning still stands."
"Stand in my way of protecting Kadaj Tervaden, and I will treat you like any other enemy. I will kill you."
"Gods can not kill." groaned Vale, as he looked to the snake on his chest. "I learned that little tidbit from another goddess of time, Sumi."
"And, from Sumi, you should know that I will not hesitate to break a rule to protect what is mine. You mortals fail to remember that you are not the higher beings." Akui slithered away, returning to her place with Kadaj. "Do not get in my way, Vale Tervaden."
Akui faded away with a hiss, as Tervaden rose from the floor.

Vale walked over to the bassinet and piked Kadaj up. He kissed the top of his son's head, before placing the boy to his chest. "I don't like this. I don't like this at all, Kadaj. Something's wrong." Kadaj cooed against his father, as his bright purple eyes looked up at him. "She has your eyes." chuckled Vale. "That's interesting. Listen," Vale walked over to the couch on the other side of the room. He laid down, placing Kadaj on his chest. "I love you, Kadaj. And, I will protect you with my life. You, your mother and your brother. I promise you. I'll make your mother happy again. I'll find Ichimaru. And, you'll have the family you deserve. I promise." Kadaj gave a giggle as Vale smiled at him. He put his little fist in his mouth, as he continued to giggle at his father's smile. "Let's get some sleep before Mom tries to bite my head off, hm?" Vale pulled Kadaj's hand from his mouth, as he rocked the child to sleep. Vale let himself drift into a light sleep, after Kadaj had settled on his chest.

Waking from another bad dream Kita went to check on Kadaj. As she pushed the partly closed door open her head titled slightly. "I swore I left this door open last time I was in here." She spoke softly to herself.
With the door swinging fully open a wide bright smile crossed her lips. There across the room on the couch with Kadaj safely wrapped in his arms, Vale sat, sank down in the corner of the couch fast asleep.
"That's why the door was closed." Her words spoke softly once again as she walked over to the couch and sat down next to Vale and little Kadaj. Her hand lifted as she softly brushed his hair from his face. His eyes fluttered open as he looked to the woman sitting next to him.
"Good morning, when did you sneak in here?" Her smile grew as she looked into his groggy gray eyes.

"Last night, while you were sleeping." answered Vale. "I...I wanted to see my son. I'm sorry. I should have asked. Or, at least woke you when I got here." Vale sat up slowly, so not to wake Kadaj. He looked around, as the sun shined through the window behind them.
"Is it morning, already?" Vale gentle passed Kadaj to Kita before rising from the couch to stretch. He looked to his son shoulder, where bright purple eyes shined before fading away.
"You haven't noticed anything odd about Kadaj, have you, love?"

Kita looked to the sleeping infant in her arms then back to Vale. "No. Is he sick?" Kita leaned in closer to their baby and gently rest her cheek to his forehead checking for a fever. "What happen? Did something happen last night?"
Vale shook his head. "No. Nothing. I am just curious."
Kita's worry settled over their child as she reached out and touched Vale's forearm. "That's good. You had me worried there for a minute. As for your apologize. It is not needed." She stepped into him lifting up on her toes as she kissed his cheek. "You know you're welcome here whenever you want. Even if it is just to stop in to say Hi." She stepped back from him and walked over to Kadaj's bed and laid him gently down. She turned back to Vale and looked at him. He looked tired and worn out his hair a mess and his clothing tattered and dirty. His long snow white hair pulled back into a ponytail. Her heart sank seeing him this way.
She stepped back over to him, her hand sliding between his arm and torso as it rested to his side as she looked into his eyes. Her thumb rubbing against his side tenderly. "Let me fix you breakfast while you get a shower and clean up. I still have a change of clothing here for you."
Vale's head started to shake slightly.
"Vale, please. I don't like seeing you like this."

"I've been looking for him." whispered Vale. He shook his head, as he pulled away from Kita. "I'm sorry I haven't found him yet." Taking Kita's hand in his, Vale sighed. "You need to relax as well. Why don't you join me?" He chuckled. "I promise. No funny business."
"Vale..."
"Sojiro's here. He can look after Kadaj, if he wakes. But, you need to relax more than I do."

Kita smiled as a soft giggle escaped her, her eyes never leaving his. "If it will get you in the shower to clean up, relax and let me make you breakfast I will join you." She leaned into him again up on her tiptoes and whispered.
"But no funny business." She stepped back from him taking his hand into hers as she walking toward the door. As they crossed the room Kita heard Vale mumble under his breath."Yes. No funny business, but sex is top of the list." Kita squeezed his hand in her as she looked over to him. "Be good.""I am, Love and you know just how good I am." Kita's head shook as the two exited the room. Moved

Bleach Unrated: REBOOTEDCurrent Arc: RejectionEpisode 411 "Seeking Comfort": Vale appeared just outside of Kadaj's room at Kita's home with Gin. Behind the door, he could only sense Kita and Kadaj. No one else was in the house. Vale pushed the door open to find Kita sitting in a rocking chair feeding their son. He didn't know why he was there. He made up in his mind that Kita didn't want to see him and that Gin wouldn't allow it. At least for a while. But, in this moment, just minutes after having left Las Noches, Vale found himself wanting to see his youngest son and the boy's mother. "Kita..." Vale turned his gaze away from her. He stayed in the doorway. |

Feeling what Kita believed to be Vale's reiatsu, she looked back over her shoulder toward the nursery door. Her brows rose, "Vale? Vale is that... you?" She watched as he head nodded slowly a soft smile crossing her lips.
"You look nice," She looked back to Kadaj as he squirmed in her arms. "Is everything ok," she looked back to Vale as he now kneeled in front of them, "Or did you just come to see Kadaj." She smiled as she watched the stress in his face melt away as he looked on at his son. "He should be done here is just a second. Then you can hold him, but you'll have to burp him."

Vale sat on the floor with his legs folded in front of him. "I wanted to see both of you actually." He folded his hands in his lap and took a deep breath. "I..." his voice was low. "...I needed to see both of you. Yumiko too." He looked down at his hand. "But you first..."
Kita reached out cupping Vale's cheek with a worried look on her face. "Is everything alright?"
Vale turned his head just enough to kiss the inside of her hand. "I am...so sorry...for all I've done to you." he whispered. "I know that there is very little I could ever do to make amends. But, I am sorry. And, I am grateful for you." Vale reached up, placing a hand to Kadaj's back. "For him.."
"Vale?"
"Seto." he said, correcting her. "Please call me Seto. I am done with Vale Tervaden and all attached to that name. Well...Most of it." Vale smiled at his son.
