"Trials of a Leader": It was hours later that Kin had his confrontation with the head of the Kuchiki clan and the facts of the thief coming to light. After all this, he was summoned to Masahiro Koriyama's study, again. He was not sure of the contents of this meeting, but he was sure as displeased as his mother was with his actions toward Byakuya this was not about the thief they had under their care.
After knocking and being told to enter he walked in the room seeing Masahiro sitting at his desk, his back to him as he looked at a painting hung on the wall behind his desk.
"Koriyama-sama." Kin replied bowing low and to one knee in front of his desk. "I was told you wanted to speak with me, sir."

The painting above the elder Koriyama's desk was that of a long range of mountains in the winter time. Looking at it always brought calm to his mind. Masahiro turned when Kin Masanobu spoke and stood up from his desk. He took his cane with a silver fox as the handle and leaned on it.
"Yes, I do."
He walked up to the eldest son of the late Kazuo and slammed the butt of his cane into the young man's foot. He kept there as he spoke. "What's this I hear you mouthed off to the esteemed Byakuya Kuchiki?"

Kin cringed as the cane pressed into his foot, his hands tightened into tight fists, but he remained in his place on the floor, his head lowered to his master. "Yes, Koriyama-sama. He and I had a disagreement on where Makino should be in her time of recovering over Father."
He gritted his teeth as the cane pressed harder into his foot, but he kept his tone smooth and calm. "He believes she is better with others to help her over her grieving. Where I believe she should be home where her family can help her, leading down a path that does not contain revenge."

"Given, that is understandable. It's perfectly fine for you to disagree with Kuchiki-sama. However, it is most certainly NOT fine for you to cop an attitude with the head of the Kuchiki clan."
Masahiro removed his cane and allowed him to stand. "You may be the head of the Masanobu clan, but you are still young. Much too young to lead a clan honestly. But after the death of your father that couldn't be helped."
He walked back to his desk and held his back as he sat back down. "You have a lot to learn about leadership and diplomacy. You would do well not to make enemies with the Kuchiki clan. As for Makino-chan, it will take both family and friends from the academy to heal her suffering. I briefly meet her friends when I went to get Suigetsu. They are good people. You need not worry about her. I believe she is doing fine."

Kin slightly shook his head. "I am sorry Koriyama-sama, but I disagree. If that were the facts she would not have attacked a fellow student. A friend. And she would not be suffering the punishment she is under now because of this action."
He stepped toward his desk. "She needs to be home Koriyama-sama. There are too many variables to lead her down a path of revenge for the person that killed our father. They can't be there for her like her family can." He paused, an even worse fear striking in his heart.
"And what happens if she gets wound up with that Ichimaru boy? I hear he is just like his father, or that Asuhara boy. That is not something we want her falling into."

"She needs to learn for herself, Kin. Shelter and smothering will not get her anywhere. It will make it worse. And you are much too harsh a judge of character. Do you know anything about Sojiro Ichimaru other than his blood relations? Do you know anything about Riku Asuhara other than his family business?"
Masahiro stood up once again and slammed his cane on the floor. "Do not make assumptions based on common knowledge. You know nothing of the character of her friends. Judgment is what starts wars, Kin. It is dangerous and poisonous."
He walked around and squeezed Kin's shoulder tightly. "Listen to me boy. You cannot heal your sisters or the rest of your family's suffering through control. The more you pull them together, the more they will resist. Nothing will come out of this except resentment."

Kin hung his head with a heavy sigh. "I only want them safe, sir. I do not trust the academy or the Gotei. Too much wrong doing has come from it."
Kin looked to Masahiro. "Maki-chan is rebellious enough. You know how she is, sir. She will not rest until she sees fathers killer behind bars, and she won't care how she gets it. She will get it even if she herself ends up getting locked away as well."

Masahiro's tone softened. "And you think her friends want that? You think they WANT her dead or behind bars? Kin you have been blinded by your father's death. I understand that, but you cannot protect you family from everything. Some things are set in stone. The best way your can protect her is by giving her guidance while supporting her decisions. And if she makes bad choices, show her how to make the right ones. Experience is the best teacher."
Kin's head lowered again. "I can not guide her if she is not around, Koriyama-sama, and I do not believe I have been blinded by Fathers death." His head lifted as he looked to Masahiro. "I believe it has opened my eyes to things I have never noticed before until fathers death."
Masahiro sighed and shook his head. "Well, regardless of the outcome. You and your family need to sit down and have a long talk, all of you. You all need to be aware of each other's needs and wishes, and you must make every effort to listen to them and meet them in the middle. I applaud you for wanting to bring your family together after this tragedy, but you have been much too forceful in your execution of this goal. You must handle this with a delicate touch, not authority and control."
Once again, he went back to his desk and sat down slowly. He leaned his cane against the desk and went back to the papers and files on his desk. "In any case, you too must learn from your mistakes, just like Makino-chan. And to atone for your mistake, I expect you to apologize genuinely to Byakuya Kuchiki before the week is done. He has been head of his clan far longer than you have been head of yours. I suggest you learn all you can from him. But don't misunderstand me; Learning from him does not mean you have to act like him, just as Suigetsu does not act the same as me. With that, you are free to go, Kin. I hope this talk has given you much to think about."

Kin nodded, "Yes, Koriyama-sama. I will speak to Kuchiki-sama in this matter and apologize." He looked to Masahiro and smiled warmly. "But I don't think Mother is wanting us to be allies. I think her thoughts on that runs a little deeper than that."
Masahiro set his quill down and laced his fingers together, leaning his chin on his hands. "Oh? Elaborate, please. What do you mean by 'deeper than that'?"
"The way mother looked at him, acted around him. She has found an interest in this man. And I believe Kuchiki-sama is in the same with Mother. I do not know the man that well." He chuckled lightly. "I do not know him at all beside rumor, but I know that look in a man's eyes when they find a woman that strikes their fancy. I saw it in Fathers eyes as well as my brother's. Kuchiki-sama was in that way."

"Hmm. Is that so?" Masahiro hummed, tilting his head. "And what do you think of this budding love interest between them? Does it make you angry or upset that your mother has finally found love and happiness with another man after your father's death?"
"No and and then a huge resounding yes. Kuchiki-sama is a fine man, but his way of thinking with family I am not fond of. The Masanobu Clan is tightly woven as you know. It worries me that his lax thoughts on this will pulled at those woven threads and we will drift. And no because of the promise Mother made to Father years ago."
"I understand, however, Kuchiki-sama has lost a great deal many of his family members. His father, his mother, his wife, and almost his sister in law on a great deal many occasions. He did not have a tightly woven family to help him through hard times, and so he has learned to keep people at a certain distance from him to keep from getting hurt again. Maybe you and your mother, Kin, can show him the beauty of family again. People are not incapable of change, nor are they incapable of being inspired to change."

Kin smiled nodding slightly. "Yes, you are right, Koriyama-sama. We can show him that family is better than distance." He chuckled lightly. "Especially with the way Kouen, Shirou, Makino and Mother are. They have to be the most loving people I know."
Masahiro chucked as well nodding slowly. "Yes, they are something else, but then you have Hakuryuu, which that counters their loving ways."
Kin chuckled lightly. "That boy has always been a hard case. Without or without Father being around. I believe he would be the only one that would object to Mother and Kuchiki-sama being together if it comes to that."

Masahiro chuckled and nodded, picking his quill back up again. "Well then, we shall wait and see with him as well. And if he needs a bit of guidance, we will give it to him. Everyone needs a bit of change at the moment. Now, I'm sure you have a lot of work to do. I'll let you see to whatever business you need to take care of today. Enjoy the rest of your day, Kin."
"You as well, Masahiro-sama," Kin bowed deeply before turning and taking his leave.

Kin headed toward the doors in the main entrance ready to take his leave of the Koriyama manor, many things on his mind as he walked along. He paid no mind to the things around him as he went along.
Before he could reach for the door to exit he heard someone clear their throat. He paused, slowly taking his hand from the door, turned and looked behind him. There leaning against the wall her arms crossed over her chest stood the eldest Koriyama.
"Eavesdropping as usual, Suigetsu?" He smirked at her.

Suigetsu unfolded her arms from underneath her breasts and pushed up off the wall. She walked up to Kin, smirking back, her split skirt shifting as she walked, flashing her legs. "Me? Eavesdropping? Never. I was simply checking up on you. Making sure you got a swift kick to the nuts because apparently they've gotten rather large lately."
She put her hands on her hips and tilted her head. "But I guess Father's way was better. Still though, gotta give you credit for verbally smacking that stiff shirted Byakuya Kuchiki in the face and coming out of it alive. Gods know I wouldn't have done it so politely."

Kin chuckled lightly. "Of course not. There is nothing you do politely." He shook his head as he watched her walk closer. "So tell me, Suigetsu. What are your thoughts on my sisters friends at the academy? Do you think they can be trusted with her well being?"
Suigetsu nodded sternly. "I do, Kin. I agree with my father. Take away their names, and you have a good group of people who all want to see her succeed. I know what it's like to be judged for both your name and your blood. You know how many people shamed and harassed me for not being of noble blood and leading the Koriyama clan. You know how many people called me a fraud and a con artist, saying that I 'wormed my way into wealth.' You know me better than anyone. And you know that I am none of those things."
She rested a hand on his chest, not wanting to look ridiculous having to reach up to place it on his shoulder. "Maki-chan's friends deserve the same treatment you gave me. Ichimaru is a good kid, as is Asuhara. The latter wouldn't hurt a fly. As for his family business, the Asuhara's only pull robin hood heists. They steal from those who don't deserve their wealth and give it to those in need. He's not like the bastard that was stealing from us. Believe it or not, there is such a thing as honorable thievery."
"So he steals from the likes of your family." He crossed his arms over his chest and looked down at her. "And I thought you were not eavesdropping?"
