"A Day in the Life": Saya sat in the garden sipping at her tea enjoying the evening weather. It was getting to that time of year once more. The days were starting to grow slowly shorter and the mornings and evenings started to hold a slight nip. Fall was settling in, the trees changing from their natural green to the vibrant colors of red, yellow, orange and brown. The flowers no longer bloomed and the wild life of the area was either migrating or getting ready to settle in for the winter. She lifted her cup taking another sip as she heard the door that entered into the garden slide open. Resting her cup to the table she turned to face her Lady in waiting.
She had a box in her hands as she pressed toward her then stopped taking a bow. "My Lady. This was just delivered to you from the Kuchiki manor."
Saya nodded taking the package from her. "Thank you, Koko."
The girl nodded, turned and left her be once more. Saya looked to the box now sitting to the table, bound with twine. She frowned with a soft sigh. "I need to tell him. There is no need for me to be keeping it a secret from him.""Need to tell who, what, Mother?" Saya looked up seeing her daughter standing a few feet from the table. It had been a couple of days since her punishment from attacking one of her fellow classmates. So far she was doing well with her punishment, but Saya knew that before the month was over there would be words between them because she was pushing her daughter too hard.
"Are you done polishing the Dojo floors?"

"Yes, Mother." Makino replied blowing a lock of hair from her face a she walked toward the table where her mother sat.
"And your Grandfather?" Her mother asked.
Makino sat down with her reaching for a cup across the table. Quickly her hand withdrew as a smack was delivered to the back of it. Makino placed her hands to her lap and sighed looked to her mother across the table.
"He is the same cantankerous old man he was when you last saw him this morning."
"Makino Masanobu~" Her mother said to her with a raised brow.
Makino chuckled shrugging her shoulders. "I did not call him anything that he has not already called himself."
"Still. He is your Grandfather."
"Mhm," she hummed. "And I respect him as much if not more than I do you and or father. You know I mean no harm in calling him that. Plus, I call him that to his face. He don't care." Makino chuckled again as her mothers Lady in waiting entered the garden once more and poured her and her mother a new cup of tea. Makino looked to Koko and sighed then looked over to her mother. "You know I could have done that myself."
Before her mother could make comment, Makino looked to the box sitting between them in front of her mom. "I did not know you left. What did you get?"

Saya looked to the box. "I don't know." She reached for the twine tied around the box. "Shall we see what is inside?"
"What do you mean you don't know?" Makino chuckled at her mother.
"I did not buy this. It came from Byakuya Kuchiki." Her mother informed her.
Makino's look was surprised as she watched her untie the twine and slowly lift the lid of the box. On top was a note folded neatly, lifting it Saya saw a beautiful teal shawl adorned with white and soft pink cherry blossoms and drifting petals. She tiled her head and opened the note reading it first.
Dear Lady Masunobu,
I apologize for the delay in sending your return gift. Far from being offended by your gesture, it took time to answer dutifully due to the pressures of my position as a captain of the Gotei. Your thoughts were kindly received and I wish your daughter success at the academy.
May this gift bring you comfort as she strives to defend the family away from home.
Sincerely,
Byakuya Kuchiki, Head of the Kuchiki Clan and Captain of the Sixth Division
Saya smiled warmly as she folded the note back letting it rest to the table top she started to unpack the box.

Makino watched as her mother carefully pulled at the shawl. Finding it was wrapped around something, she gently lifted the shawl with the hidden object kept safely inside it. Once placed to the table her mother started to uncover the hidden items within the shawl.
Slowly she removed a handmade tea set, blue and white with strikes of purple where the glaze mixed. Six beautiful cups, each cup containing its own mixture of tea and a tin of her mothers favorite spiced tea also accompanied the gift.
"What is this for?" Makino ask her.

"Just a gift from a kind gentleman." Saya replied as she carefully inspected each cup and the tea joining it. Once looking at one of the cups she placed it on the tray in front of Koko. When finished she lifted the shawl up and over her shoulders. She admired the lovely fabric and the pattern sprayed across it.
"He has excellent tastes."
Makino could not help but laugh softly as she watched her mother. "You act as if you have never gotten a gift from a man before, Mother." She lifted her cup taking a sip of her tea as Koko lifted from the table and left the room with her new tea cups and tea arrangements.
Saya looked to her daughter. "Well it has been awhile, and to find one with such good tastes."

Makino blinked as she looked at her mother. She seemed in a daze by the gifts. She shook her head and went back to her tea lifting the cup for another drink.
"Are you worried, Maki-chan?"
Makino looked up over her cup at her mother as she huffed, tea spraying a soft mist into her face. She sighed setting the cup to the table, her mother giggling softly at her. Rolling her eyes she wiped her face with a nearby towel as she answered her mother's question.
"Not even close to being worried." She set the towel back to the table.
"Are you sure? Because your eyes are telling me you are."
"Leave my eyes out of this." Makino rebutted looking away from her mother crossing her arms over her chest. "I am not worried. One. Because he is nothing like father, and two..." she looked to her mother once more. "He is nothing like father."

Saya looked to her daughter. "Yes. You are right." Saya replied removing the shawl and resting it to her lap. "He is not your father." She looked to Makino. "There is not another man alive like your father. He was one of a kind. Just like Byakuya is one of a kind."
Makino almost choked on her tea as she looked to her mother. "Byakuya?!" She gave her mother a questioning look. What's going on here?
Before her daughter could ask anymore questions she stood from the table, draping the shawl over her arm. "If you are staying for dinner you might want to go clean up. It is getting close to that time." She turned and stepped toward the door. Turning she looked back at Makino with a bright smile.
"Hondo is making your favorite tonight." She turned and exited the room leaving her daughter there to ponder.

After sitting there a little longer Makino finally lifted to go prepare for dinner. She was dirty from cleaning and training with her Grandfather later in the day and what she was wearing was not appropriate for dinner around their table.
Once cleaned up Makino headed to her closet. She pulled a soft blue kimono that faded to white on the lower section, a dark blue under kimono and dark blue obi. She stepped over to the vanity and picked out the blue and sliver combs her father got her for a birthday present the year before he died. She brushed her hair smooth and pulled it back on either side and put the combs in place. She then slipped into the kimono's tying the obi in place and left the room after a finally once over of her person.
Walking down the hall a knock came to the door. "I got it." She called out since she was right there. She walked to the door and slid it open only to be greeted by a messenger. "I have a delivery for Lady Masanobu." The messenger replied as he bowed low to her. Makino smiled. "I am her daughter. I can take it if that is alright?"The messenger nodded. "Yes, there were no specification as of who I should give it to in the home." Makino nodded extending her hand as he placed a large cylinder in her hand. Makino blinked a few times and the guy turned and left the propriety the way he came.
She slid the door closed looked at the cylinder. Walking toward the dinning room the curiosity of what was inside finally got to be too much. She opened the top tipping the cylinder as the contents slid out into her hand. There was a large rolled piece of parchment paper as smaller one accompanied it. She stopped in the hall letting the larger one rest to the table closet to her as she unrolled the smaller one. It was a note. A note from... Her eyes widened.
Byakuya Kuchiki? She blinked a few times as she read it.
Dear Lady Saya,
I appreciated your assistance and the added time away from my duties in pleasant conversation. I hope this finds you well and you find more use for it than your many scarves. The artist suffered a delay so I have also included a small packet of the tea you found to your liking. It is more pleasing each time I have tried it since.
Respectfully Yours,
Byakuya Kuchiki
"MOTHER!!" She screamed. Waiting for her mothers reply, Makino grabbed up the larger object that was in the tube and unrolled it carefully. Her jawed dropped and eyes widened. It was beautiful. An ink painting of two sparrows in flight.
Makino heard a gasp as she quickly turned seeing her mother standing there, her hand covering her mouth, her eyes captivated by the painting and sparkling with something Makino only saw when her mother used to look at her father. "What's going on between you two?"~END RP~ "A Noble Outing":

"Birds and the Bees":
Sojiro tried to say a couple things, but he was still literally hauled out of the house and set on his feet by the koi pond. Ironically, they had taken him right where he wished to meet Makino later that night. When he had that chance. Folding his arms, he looked to the two brothers who had engineered the present scheme. “I wonder, if I were to ask what you’re planning behind the guise of an evening walk, would you tell me? Or drag me to another location?” he inquired with a raised eyebrow.

"Well now, that depends on if you like being dragged around by us. Maybe we should carry you bridal style throughout the entire grounds," Shirou gave a small smirk, tilting his head at the young man. When Sojiro gave a distraught expression, Shirou laughed and patted his shoulder. "Relax, Soji-kun. We just thought we should get to know our baby sister's love interest more."
Kouen smirked and plopped down on the grass next to the pond as he looked across the waters, the largest of Koi jumped from the waters to catch a lighten bug flashing above the water. "Not to mention. Talk about money is so boring." he looked over to Sojiro. "Did you really want to hang out for that conversation?"
Shirou chuckled when Sojiro gave a wince that made him look like he was in excruciating pain. He stooped down to pick a stray flower that had been blown off of a bush by the wind out of the water. He caressed the small blossom then set it back in the water carefully, the wind blowing it across the pond. "That's what we thought. So tell us, Sojiro. What makes you so attracted to Maki-chan?" He gave the boy another smirk.

Sojiro blushed and looked aside, rubbing at his hair. “I don’t know if I can narrow it down to one thing. I mean, she took me by surprise.” He knelt down to the pond, and Daichi leapt into the undergrowth. He pulled out another flower floating by the edge. “She’s beautiful, but you know that. But she’s also stubborn and determined. She’s never balked at the details I’ve given of my family. Or the danger that looms over me. And she doesn’t think she can protect me, but she's firm in her wish to stand by my side.” He twirled the flower as he sat in the grass next to Kouen. “She’s got a heart beating as wildly and brilliantly as that hummingbird spirit that resides in her sword. It… entrances me.”

"Hm," Shirou said with a smile. "Good. Very poetic. Maki-chan has a brilliant head on her shoulders, as you know. She's sure to help you keep yours on your shoulders. She's a very independent young woman, and it doesn't seem like you try and take that away from her. Not in the least. Of that I'm very glad for. The two of you seem to balance out and compliment each other very well. In many ways that most nobles are blind to or just refuse to admit. Unfortunately, our eldest brother has a bit of a problem in that area, but I'm sure he'll come around just like he will with Kuchiki-sama."
Shirou patted Sojiro's shoulder and sat down on his other side. "Just keep doing what you're doing and you will be fine."

Kouen folded his arms behind his head and looked Sojiro's way. "What are you doing by the way? You are behaving yourself, right?" He grinned turning his attention back to the night sky. "After all you said it. She is beautiful. You have not taken advantage of that, have you? Turning on the Ichimaru charm to swoon her into what you want and not it not be her wishes?"
He saw Sojiro blush a deeper red and wince to his words. "Don't get me wrong, Soji-kun. I am all for having a little fun with your woman, but only if she is willing and that is our baby sister you are playing with."

“Playing?” Sojiro repeated, aghast. “I - I would never. I don’t care what’s normal to others. I mean I do like to kiss her and hold her close, but she’s-” Shirou was grinning at him and Kouen was chuckling on the ground. Sojiro folded his arms. “Yes, she’s beautiful, but-” He groaned at a wink sent his way and it just slipped out.
“She- she’s the one who’s using her charms on me.”
Crimson now, he looked out over the pond. “More often than not,” he muttered, considering jumping into the lake or sending a wave of it towards the two snickering males. He growled softly as he pulled on his hair. “Really, no one’s fair in this.”

"Look," Kouen sat up, a hand clasping to Sojiro's shoulder as he looked out over the pound. "I know you both are young and feelings get carried away sometimes." Sojiro looked over at him his face a lighter shade of red.
"Things are bound to happen between the two of you. I am not saying not to take advantage of it. Making love to the woman your heart belongs to is an amazing thing. I am just saying. Make sure it is what you both want. If you really care for the person, feelings can change with an act like that. They can become so strong they can make you blind. Here..." Kouen's hand slide from Sojiro's shoulder as he reached into his kimono sleeve and pulled out a book.
"I know you're still new to all this. A virgin even. So take a little knowledge into this with you. Read up on something."
Sojiro started to blush again as he looked at the book. "Really? You really think reading one of those will help me?"
Kouen chuckled, "well they won't hurt you. This one is about a couple kind of like you and Maki-chan. Though the guy is a prince and the girl a commoner." He reached back into his sleeve pulling another book. "When you're done with that one. Read this one. This one is a little more racy." Kouen grinned. "About a guy and two women he enjoys daily. I also have..." Kouen went to reach into his other sleeve.
"How many of those thing do you have on you?!" Sojiro exclaimed with wide eyes watching him pull yet another book from his sleeve.
Kouen chuckled and turned his attention back to the boy. "Three to four most of the time. You never know what mood I am in. Man and woman. Man and two women. Two women. Two men. Two men and one woman." He shrugged, "you never know."
