Hakuryuu shook his head. "And, just what are you going to do? Stand against the Captain Commander? Even a temporary one? Don't be foolish brother. The noble clans were given their power by the Captain Commander. It can be taken away, just as easily." A knock came at the door, as Hakuryuu walked toward the window."I suppose dinner is ready."Hakuryuu nodded. "I suppose so. Afterwards, you should speak with the Makino. There is rumor that she fancies the child Ichimaru. As the head of this clan, you should speak with her on such an offense."Kin nodded as the three began to make their exit from the room. "I will. But, first, we feast."

"Library Conversation":Kin stepped into the library of their home finding two of his brothers sitting there enjoy the evening silence in the home. Kouen was reading his normal Yuri and Shirou was painting at their mothers easel. Both looked over to him when he entered the room and bid him a good evening.
"Why do you have to read that smut, Kouen?" Kin asked him as he crossed the floor to the bookcase on the other side of the room. Kouen let the book close around his finger holding his place as he looked at the cover. "And what's wrong with what I read? I find it very entertaining and educational."Kin huffed shaking his head again. "I find it degrading and trash." He remarked as he turned and started looking for a book he came in for.

"I wouldn't necessarily call it trash," Shirou gave a small smirk, dipping his paint brush into a skin tone color and dabbing it onto the canvas. He added a small speck of white and mixed the two colors directly on the canvas, elegantly moving the light peach color around the area. "I've certainly read my fair share of trash. Omorashi on the other hand. THAT is pure trash."
Shirou stepped back several feet and looked at the painting. The piece he was painting was an abstract image of a mother kissing her infant daughter on the forehead, the baby wrapped in a turquois blanket. He nodded, satisfied and went back to the easel, picking up his brush again.
"Maki-chan reads it after all," Shirou smirked wildly. "Yuri that is. Not the omorashi."

Kin turned quickly from the bookcase his look darting from his youngest brother to his third, Kouen. "You gave that trash you're reading to our sister!?"
"Calm down." Kouen told him. "She wanted to know what it was like. So I gave her one to read. It was tame compared to what I normally read."
"And the definition of tame to you is what, Nii-san? Less then three...four girls together at one time?" Shirou asked him dodging a book that was flung his way by Kouen.
"You hush." Kouen grumbled as Kin walked toward Kouen, Shirou giggled softly as he picked up the book thrown at him.
Stopping in front of his brother Kin lowered himself to eye level with Kouen. His hands resting to the arms of the chair. "If I find out you loaned any more of this trash to Maki-chan. I will burn every book you own."

Kouen gawked at Kin, appalled by the thought of all his books going up in flames. His face clearly read, "You wouldn't dare."
"Lighten up, Nii-sama~" Shirou set his brush down and cracked open the book Kouen threw at him. He laughed in amusement. "Really. You're too uptight and close minded sometimes. It works with politics, but other than that it just makes you seem too stiff shirted."
Kin stood and looked to his younger brother which was dressed in bright flashy kimono. "When you learn to dress like a man and not a festival ornament. I will then take your advice to heart. Until then, you stay out of this."
Kouen burst out in laughter as he looked to his younger brother, then back to his oldest when he saw what Kin had said hurt his younger brothers feelings. "Nii-sama, cut him a break not all of us can be as manly as you."
Shirou grunted and tossed Kouen'a book back to him. "Maybe I should be teaching YOU how to dress, brother dear. Your wardrobe could use some color. You always dress like you have a stick up your noble ass."
He changed out his easel and began painting something else.

As his older brother turned and walked back over to the bookcase, Kouen leaned over picking up the book placing it back to the table next to him. He was annoyed at what Shirou said, but only mumbled under his breath about the two of them needing to grow up.
"You know Shirou-kun is right Nii-sama. Since fathers death you have turned into a real hard ass." He marked his page and closed his book resting it to his lap.
Kin turned once back in place in front of the bookcase. "I have stepped up into fathers place as the Clan leader. I can no longer flitter around like a child, depending on his parents to make everything right. I have a job to do and the way you two act does not bring honor to the family."
"Hey!" Kouen exclaimed sliding up in his seat to the edge. He gestured with his hand to outside of the home. "When I am on duty," he looked to his younger brother. "When we are on duty. We do our job and we do it with pride. The Masanobu Clan is just as important to us as it is you. However, when we come home we are allowed to be ourselves. We don't have to be some up tight noble, asshole twenty-four seven."

"You still have a certain image to uphold even in this household. What if someone were--"
"You mean like Kuchiki-sama?" Shirou ask as he cut him off, but continued painting, not looking his way. "You're as uptight as he is."
"And turning into as big of an ass as he is." Kouen added, cracking the spine to his book again.
"You do realize mother--"
"Where is mother?" Shirou asked cutting his brother off once more.
Kin gritted his teeth trying to keep his calm with his younger brothers. "Mother. Is at Kuchiki-sama's having dinner tonight."
"AGAIN!?" Shioru exclaimed lowering his brush as he looked his older brothers way.
"As I was about to say, and was so rudely cut off. Again. Mother and Kuchiki-sama are officially courting." Kin growled at Shirou looking his way.

Shirou rolled his eyes and crossed his arms. "As much as I hate the thought of mother flirting with that stick in the mud," he sighed. "We have a more pressing matter to talk about. About our dearest and only baby sister flirting with the spawn of that damn silver fox Ichimaru. It won't be too much longer and he's going to rub off on Maki-chan and corrupt her precious mind and heart. The mind and heart that I--that all four of us--worked so hard to repair after Father's death."
Shirou took his gray and white and mixed the two on a color pallet until he had a shimmery silver color. "We need to get her alone so we can talk to her. Without the influence of the people in that Academy."

Kouen chuckled. "Don't you mean whelp, Shiro? His father would be the fox." He looked to Kin, "but he is right. This is not the likes we want our baby sister messing around with." He looked down at his book and closed it again.
"Though, truth be known we could over look this. If things get serious with mother and Kuchiki-sama," he looked up grinning. "He could be the bad guy here. Leaving the older brothers out of the heat with their baby sister."
Shirou giggled, "very true. He would never allow the likes of an Ichimaru to tarnish the Kuchiki name."
"Exactly!" Kouen confirmed.

Shirou hummed in thought, tapping a finger to his chin. He wondered if there really were genuine feelings between their mother and Byakuya Kuchiki. In theory, marrying into the Kuchiki clan would be great for the Masanobu clan. And Kouen was right. There was no way Kuchiki would allow Sojiro Ichimaru to get involved with Makino if things were to take off between him and their mother. Then their biggest problem could solve itself without them having to lift a finger. Maybe instead of being a problem, the lord Kuchiki could be a means to an end.
"Tell me, brothers. Do you really think there is anything long lasting between Mother and Byakuya Kuchiki? Or is it just fleeting, puppy feelings?"

Kin found his book. Taking it from the shelf, he cracked the spine, looking at the page. He then looked up at his two younger brothers. "Since both of you think courting is a new woman on your arm every week, let me shed some light on the subject for you. Mother and Kuchiki are true Nobles. If their feelings were not sincere they would not be courting. They would still be acquaintances."
Both gave him a dirty look. "And she would not have sat us down, asking us for our blessings." He looked back to his book. "Trust me on this one. Mother and Kuchiki are well on their way to the alter. So get use to the idea of calling him father."

"I do wish you were a bit more sensitive to the topic, brother." said Hakuryuu. "What is the harm in Mother courting Kuchiki, if she is happy? Sure, a marriage between the two of them could mean the end of the Masanobu clan. But, perhaps that is not an unfortunate thing. The Kuchiki clan is one of great prestige."
"I am glad you see no harm in this." grunted Kin. "But, I-"
"Are an overbearing son who seems to forget his place when it comes to his Mother."

Kin looked away from Hakuryuu with narrowed eyes. "Grandfather and Father worked too hard on this clan to just let another clan take it over. If I can figure out a way to stop that, I will."
Kouen nodded. "Yes, I agree there. We should save the Masanobu Clan at all cost. Only if to honor our father."
"Are you sure there is a way, Nii-sama?" Shirou asked as he lowed his brush, looking his way.
"There has to be. I have heard of such things." He looked up at his brothers. "But I never found out if it were fact or fiction."

"You would destroy mother's happiness for your own gains?" questioned Hakuryuu. "You are truly foolish. I had hoped that this was only being done out of concern for Mother's feelings. But, you wish to end the first relationship she's had in many years only to hold onto what the past has built." Hakuryuu shook his head as he folded his arms behind his back.
"As the head of this clan, you will have to decide whether holding onto things such as a name and tradition is worth the halted progression of our clan." Hakuryuu waved a hand. "I am through."

"Brothers, please. Must we squabble like this? If Father wanted anything, it was for us to be together. A name is a nice thing to be proud of, yes, but are we not still family no matter what name we take? Can there be no middle ground?"
Shirou stood up and moved closer to the other three. "Hyphenated names are becoming quite popular these days. Is it beyond consideration that Mother can continue the Masanobu clan on the Kuchiki side while we, her sons and our father's sons, continue the Masanobu clan on our side. Simply because Mother marries into the Kuchiki clan does not mean that we have to fully become Kuchikis as well. We will always be our parents' sons, no matter what name our mother has. And we can always give our names to brides of our own. And then there is Makino. Her name will change once she is married as well. What if she married into a powerful clan? Would it not be the same as Mother's situation?"
He walked over to Hakuryuu and clasped his shoulder, then moved over to Kin and did the same. "Mother can still be happy and we can still continue our clan, can we not? Is that not our duties as Masanobu sons? To grow our clan? Unless... you all plan on Makino marrying BACK INTO the family. And mother as well. You would force her to be a widow for the rest of her life? She would suffer more from that fate than she did after Father's death. And I refuse to see her that miserable again."
