"Time Moves Forward": (continued)
Toshiro Hitsugaya sat at his desk, doing what he always did. No explanation needed. Yet today he did it slowly. Today was one of those days where he just didn't care.
He looked over at Rangiku's desk which was both empty and yet far from empty. It was virtually empty of paperwork, yet there was someone filling her seat. That person was Suzume Shizuka. She sat at Rangiku's desk, scribbling diligently at her last file. Suddenly she looked up, catching him looking at her. She blushed and smiled, looking back down at her file.
Hitsugaya sighed and looked back down at his own documents. He set his pen down and folded his hands together. His mind turned to Rangiku.
She had been holed up in her room lately, only coming out to let him know that she was still alive. One night he had went to her room and knocked on her door. To his surprise, she answered and invited him in. For a long, long while, he talked, she listened and they sat together drinking tea in mostly silence. He had never heard the sound of his voice so much. After a while he had left and left her to herself. And as he went back, he thought to himself the he had seen not one alcohol bottle.
Suddenly a warm smell surrounded his senses. He looked up to see Suzume handing him a cup of tea. He took it with a small smile.
He looked down into the cup. "Rangiku... I hope you can let go of what hurts..."

"New Leaf"
Toshiro sighed as he used a step stool to file away documents into the bookcases. Suzume and he had finished up their work earlier than expected. It was still the middle of the afternoon. He had asked Suzume if she wanted to go out for dinner since he had gotten gift cards to a couple of his favorite restaurants here in Seireitei as a birthday gift. HE figured he'd better use them before they expired. However, Suzume informed him that she had some business to take care of.
He growled slightly and thumped his forehead to the files on the bookcase. "So is this what rejection is supposed to feel like?" He growled again. "Why am I even saying that?!"

Rangiku knocked at her captain's door before sliding the door and entering. She bowed slightly. "I'm sorry I took so long in returning. I ran into Ashimitsu on my return and he and I chatted for a bit."
She looked at Toshiro who was still standing on the step stool at in front of the bookcase. She smiled half heartedly and stepped toward him. "Need some help, Captain?"

Toshiro blinked and turned around, seeing his lieutenant standing by the door. "No, this is the last one." He turned back and shoved the last file in. He hopped off the stool and moved over to one of the couches, sitting down with a tired sigh. "I'm exhausted." He looked up at Rangiku. "You ran into Ashimitsu, you said? What's he up to? Besides getting knocked around by Komamura."

Rangiku giggled softly. "Healing right now." She walked over and sat down with him on the other end of the couch. "Sorry I was not here to help you file those. I just had a few thing on my mind and needed to mall them over a bit. I guess it was good I ran into Tsukiro." She sighed looking at her hands in her lap.
"We are kind of in the same boat right now."

Toshiro sighed, nodding. "Yes, I figured as much. You haven't been your usual self." He rummaged around in his haori and pulled out the gift cards. "We haven't gotten dinner in a long time." He held up the cards to show her. "Shizuka and I finished early. Let's take the rest of the day off and get something to eat."

Rangiku smiled in earnest looking at Toshiro. "Are you sure you do not want to save them for you and Zuzu?" She tilted her head and looked on at him as he started to blush an angry expression growing on his face. Rangiku giggled softly and stood from the couch.
She bowed to Toshiro. "I would be honored and pleased to go to lunch with my Captain."

"Half Full":Rangiku walked up to her captain's office door and knocked softly, her arms full of the files that she collected from the other seated officers done for that day, and ready for the next days work. When he told her to enter she slid the door and walked in sitting the files to his empty desktop. "That's all of them, Captain." She told him with a bright smile as she stood in front of his desk her arms crossed over her stomach. "So is there anything else you need me for today?" Toshiro looked to her with questioning eyes. "What? I am going to see Kita today. We are going shopping for little Sojiro." Her hands lifted up in a innocent gesture. "She is a new mother and she has nothing for him. What would you expect?" She sat her hinny on the corner edge of of her captain's desk as she looked at him, propping herself up on one arm as she leaned toward him. "She don't like going out alone just yet. Yoruichi is always busy with little Kenji and she knows how I like to shop, so she ask me to go with her."
"This is the fourth time this week, Rangiku." Toshiro reminded her. "SO!" Rangiku said her hands raising again as she shrugged her shoulders. "Babies need a lot of things.""Like you would know this." Toshiro said in a matter of fact tone. "I am a woman. So yes. I would know this." Rangiku voiced, folding her arms over her stomach again slightly annoyed at her captain for his comment. "I don't see what the issue is. All the work is done for the day. All we have is what I just brought you for tomorrow." She looked to her Captain. "Why don't you go with me? I am sure you got things you need to or want to talk to Kisuke about."

Toshiro signed and reluctantly agreed to join her. "When do we plan to depart?" He didn't really want to go, but perhaps Rangiku was right. He had been in the office for a while, fresh air might do him some good.

Rangiku stood quickly from the edge of his desk and giggled. "Right now." She grabbing her shihakusho pulling it open reveling a different top. Then quickly stepped out of her hakama and tossed both of them to a nearby chair. She fluffed her hair and giggled softly.
"Ready," she announced as she looked at her captain.

He merely sat there staring at her. Slowly he got up and made his way to the door, "I have to change clothes first....."

Rangiku shook her head resting her hands to her hips. "Really? Since when did you care if you were in human clothes or your uniform?" She watched as Toshiro walked over to the office door then looked to Suzume. "That's a good idea. Tell her I will bring her something back."
She then reached over grabbing her uniform and stepped toward him. "I guess I will go put this in my room. I will meet you back here."

Toshiro froze in the doorway, "......Momo......tell her I said to hang in there. Her pain will be over soon." He tucked his hands in his sleeves and disappeared down the hallway.
