"Reaching out to a Friend":
With her captain finally free of most of the bandages around his torso, his lieutenant was free to attend to her own matters. For a short time. Nanao pushed her glasses up yet again and adjusted the cloth package in her arms. Today she had changed out of her shihakusho and placed her lieutentant's badge in her sleeve. Dressed in a simple kimono of dark blue fabric with a ripples along one side and a black obi, Nanao knocked on the fifth division lieutenant's door. "Hinamori-chan, are you in there?"

"One moment," called Momo from within. Momo appeared at the door a few seconds later and slid the door open.
"Oh, hello Nanao. What brings you by?" Momo says quietly as she notices Nanao's kimono, "you look lovely today," she says with a small smile.

Nanao smiled in turn. "Thank you." She brushed her bangs out of her eyes. "Would you join me for a afternoon in Rukongai? You look worn out."

Momo hesitated briefly, "Sounds good, I am in need of a little break. I have been so busy lately that I have not had any time for myself, an afternoon out could be just what I need." She stepped back inside, "Give me just a bit to get ready and we can go." Momo quickly walked away and reappeared a few minutes later ready to go. "Okay, shall we be off then," she stepped down into her shoes and slid the door closed behind her.

Nanao grabbed her hand. "I know that exact feeling, dear, and I know the perfect place to relax. There's a new tea stand that the girls keep talking about over and over. Quite frankly," she ran a hand over her kimono, "it's distracting. I can't focus and that's essential with my captain."

Momo smiled and let herself be lead away by Nanao, "Okay then," Momo said to her as they walked, "that sounds nice. Let's go check it out and enjoy ourselves. I have the afternoon free so we can stay as long as we like." Momo thought to herself, "I need to do this more often."

"A Captain's Help":Momo had just finished sorting through her paperwork when she heard a gentle knock on the door. "One moment, please." she called out to the person waiting on the other side of the door. She touched up the last stack of papers, before scurrying to the door. She slid it open to find the newly appointed Captain Ryo Hirabayashi. She bowed sharply. "Captain Hirabayashi. I'm sorry for making you wait. I...I was sorting my paperwork. I wasn't expecting anyone, today."

Ryo placed a gentle hand on Lieutenant Hinamori's shoulder. "There is no need for such formalities, today." She smiled gently and entered Hinamori's office. "I bought along some peaches." Ryo held up the basket she had carried with her. "I heard they were among your favorite things."
"Yes Ma'am. Captain. Hirabayashi. Ryo." Momo stuttered through her sentence making Ryo laugh.
"Ryo is just fine."
Momo nodded. "Ryo."
Ryo took a seat in front of Hinamori's desk. "I must be honest. I am not here to be social." She gestured for Hinamori to sit. "I am here because I was tasked with the training of Tsukiro Ashimitsu. You are familiar with him, yes."

Momo nodded. "I am. A bit, I mean. We haven't spoken. I've never had much interaction with him, Ma'am."
Momo felt Ryo's hand on her shoulder and tensed up.

Ryo removed her hand from Hinamori's shoulder. "It's quite alright, Momo. I don't bite." She smiled, retrieving a peach from the basket and handing it to Hinamori.
"Why do ask about my relationship with Ashimitsu?" asked Momo, placing the peach in her lap.
"I ask because I have spoken with several people who liken you to Ashimitsu. I can not imagine the emotional strain either of you have endured. And, I commend both of you for doing so. I seek a bit of insight, if you're up to it."

Momo hung her head. "I am not sure if I can provide much insight, Ma'am." she replied. "Our circumstances were quite different. In fact, I do believe his had a much bigger impact."

"Yes. The circumstances were quite different. And, both of you were dealt severe blows." She looked at Hinamori whose head was still hung. "But, pain cares nothing for circumstance." She placed her hand to Hinamori's chin and lifted her head. "I am here to help. Not to cause you more grief."

Momo began to cry softly as she looked at Ryo. "He used to bring me books."
"Who?" questioned Ryo.
"Captain Aizen. He used to bring me books. After he left, I had to go to library myself to get them." Momo wiped away her tears.

Ryo sat back in her chair, listening to Hinamori as she spoke. "And, now?" she asked. "Do you still go to the library?"
Momo nodded. "I do."
"You go because you miss him?"
