The commander's eyes turned flinty. "I have had enough of your riddles, cheat." He slashed open the second eye. As the espada flinched but didn't panic, the commander tapped his desk. "The future is never written. It is always changing, and you will pay for what you have done to the girls' in my protection and for kidnapping Ukitake." He arched his blade towards his right arm. "If you're here to make a fool of myself, then get on with it."

Koga smiled as the warm blood ran down his face. "A cheat? Your words are hurtful, Commander. So very hurtful." Koga continued you to tap on the wall, counting. "You still haven't answered my question, Commander. Why am I here?"
Koga shifted slightly, still pinned to the wall. "The scowl you bear amuses me. I never thought of you as a man for revenge, Commander. I thought you to always be above such a petty thing. You are, after all, the shield of the Soul Society. Who are you protecting while you seek to torture me?"

Just then a long sharp piece of cold steal slid under Koga's chin. "Your riddle is simple enough. There were ten Espada. Now there is one for each Captain to face." He looked to Kyoraku. "Ten Espada. Three Ayakashi." He looked back to the espada, "the second piece 'from hell and by fire' and the third part 'on edge until his prize is claimed'."
He looked back to Kyoraku, "this could have a few meanings." His eyes narrowed under his hat. "There is a new Ayakashi and he is coming for something or that hell has truly risen and Sousuke lives again."
Kisuke jerked his look back to Koga. "I say we even the odds." Before either Kyoraku or Koga could even blink Benihime removed Koga's head. Kisuke flicked his wrist as the head of the espada rolled across the floor, stopping in front of the Commanders feet.

As the head of the Espada lay at the Commander's feet, a low whistle began to call from the distance. As the whistle continued, Koga's finger ceased its tapping. Then, without warning, screams pervaded the air. Koga's body and head began to ripple and shift.
"Yes. Let us even the odds." A voice echoed throughout the room, drowned out by the screams still permeating the air. Koga's body and head became a black liquid and pooled together on the floor. "Come to me, Naraku." The gentle voice called out.
The black liquid shifted and moved quickly across the floor, its screams growing louder. Its screams mimicked those of a gruff, stern man and a child. The men's eyes widened as they both covered their ears.
"Naraku!" The liquid shifted and moved along the floor until it made it way towards the shadows of the room. Then, a blurred figure appeared between the two men. Claws bared, the figure clawed at the chest of Urahara and the face of Kyoraku inducing nightmarish hallucinations in them both. "Live your nightmares." A grin formed on the shadow's lips, as he licked the blood from his fingertips. He reached down, taking Naraku in his hand - its screams still echoing throughout the room.

A white bird fluttered into the room, and perched itself on the edge of the desk of the Captain Commander. Koga stepped through an opening garganta, rubbing his eyes. "Pain."
Teruo looked to the Seventh with a scowl, tapping his zanpakuto to the floor causing the screams to grow louder still.
Koga tilted his head, as he stepped to the side allowing Teruo to enter the garganta before he did. He looked at the Captain Commander and Urahara, as the screams and hallucinations kept their hold on them. "Why am I here, Commander?" Koga smiled. "To say hello, of course." The garganta closed behind them, leaving the men alone with their nightmares.

Nanao rushed into the room, her face pale but eyes narrowed in determination even after those horrendous screams. Finding both of the men on the ground grunting in pain and a white bird perched on the desk behind the bent form of her captain, she glared.
‘Rikujokoro!” she snapped, pinning the bird in a prison of light. It toppled over with a small squeak. Walking over, she quickly drew a cricle around it and bit her finger, pressing it to the floor. A barrier rose up, sealing the captive in a dome.
Not wasting any time, she rushed to the side of the men, just as the commander started to sit up, hand to his eyes.
“Captain, please - they didn’t- ”

“They missed the vital parts,” Shunsui growled, one hand half covering his eyes, the opposite into a shaking iron fist. His eyes watered from the pain and fighting the grasp of the hallucination around him. “I have to say I am sick of their games…”
He knew the awesome heat and shadowy figure of justice was an illusion when the tremendous man before him had stopped beating him up and had said a certain thing…
“Juushiro would have made a better commander,” the gruff voice of Yamamoto boomed, hand nearly crimson with both his own life force and his student’s blood. “You are far too lazy, too laid back and weak, to do what is necessary to protect the Realms. He’s never failed to get up, and what are you doing now, Shunsui?! You have to kill.”
“Nice try, Ayakashi,” he muttered below his breath. The form wavered. “The dead don’t speak…. and I’m not drunk enough to hear those words….”
"Captain..."
Shunsui removed his hand from his slashed face and slumped backwards against her chest. "Call Kurotsuchi and Isane...."

"I have already called for the second," Juushiro called out as he entered the room, eyes narrowed slightly in worry. "I felt something was wrong.... but then, it was over."
"Kisuke...." his friend murmured, turning his feverish head to nuzzle into Nanao's chest. "Poison in the claw wounds.... hallucinations..."
Juushiro nodded and knelt by the fallen, shaking Kisuke. Pressing his hands to the wounds in in his chest, he called out to him. "Wake up, old friend. It's an illusion. Your son, your wife, are safe. They live too close to the goddess for anything to happen to them. Whatever you're seeing isn't real. Break through!" he stated, firmly.

Kisuke shot up from the floor in a sitting position his hand clutched to his chest, gasping, his eyes went wide his fist slamming into the floor causing it to snap and crack. "Bastards!" He growled under his breath.
Lifting his hand to his hat, dragging it from the top of his head, he lifted his eyes to Kyoraku to see if he was alright. "I am alright--" his tone angered as he pushed up from the floor with a groan, his other hand still to his chest. He stumble slightly forward as Juushiro caught him by his shoulders.
"I will believe that after Kotetsu has a look at you." Juushiro told him making him take a seat in a nearby chair.
Kisuke closed his eyes tightly drawing his hand to his forehead a low growl emitting from his chest as his head shook. "Damn hallucinations--" once it past he looked up at Juushiro and grinned. "And are you trying to tell me something?"
Juushiro looked at him confused as he leaned back slightly. Kisuke chuckled and stood from the chair. "You called Yoruichi my wife."

Juushiro chuckled and shook his head with a slight smile. “You know she is, Kisuke, even if you both would run far away from any sort of formal declaration.” He looked to Shunsui and then set a hand on Kisuke’s forehead. “Why are you not feverish and Shunsui is?”
Shunsui chuckled roughly. “Yama…” he murmured. “The hallucination plunges you into the full thing.”
Juushiro nodded and then looked to the trapped bird. His eyes narrowed. “Do we want to do anything with that bird but destroy it?”

Kisuke looked to the caged bird, "let Mayuri have it. Maybe he can learn something about it to help us better with Koga." His look then drifted back to Kyoraku. "I am going to Las Noches."
Kyoraku's look snapped to Kisuke. "That would be a suicide mission, Kisuke. I won't allow it."
Kisuke smirked, "good. I am glad to see we agree on something. However. I am still going to Las Noches. If you want to send a few of the men--" Nanao cleared her throat as Kisuke smiled looking her way, "or women with me that is fine. But I am taking Kita with me. The two of us can take care of anything--including Aizen--if he has risen from the dead."
Before anyone else could speak up Isane and Mayuri stepped into the Commanders office.

"Well now! That sounds entertaining. If the Commander does not mind I would like to depart on that mission?" Mayuri then looked to the caged bird. "A gift from the visitors I presume?" He walked over to the bird leaning over taking a closer look. His head then cocked, looking to the others, a wide grin on his lips. "Do you mind?"
He was referring to taking the bird for his experiments. When no one objected, Mayuri snapped his fingers and two of his assistance appeared carrying the bird from the Commanders office. Mayuri's hands then folded behind him looking to the Commander as Isane was tenting to his injuries.
"I guess this means I need to pick up the development on my new project I have in production?” He grinned as the others looked to him wondering what he had up his sleeve for them.
“I would have brought it to you sooner Kyoraku, but I need four more test subjects to test it one to make sure it is strong enough to do the job.”

Shunsui forced himself to sit up and thought on both Kisuke’s and Kurotsuchi’s words. Isane’s hands moved over the slashes on his face and Nanao put a cool cloth to his head. He sighed. “I want you to take care, old friend,” he murmured to Kisuke. “Kurotsuchi, go and learn all you can. Between the two of you, I want a full report. Is it Azayaka, Aizen, or someone else? We need to know those answers as soon as you can.”
He chuckled as his strength flagged. “That heat… really is something….” He leaned on Nanao’s shoulder, breathing in her lavender perfume. “Mutsu and Ashimitsu go to Las Noches, too. I will decide what to do for Karakura Town defenses….”
He straightened and looked at Kisuke and Kurotsuchi. "Heal first, friend. Kurotsuchi, what are these plans?" he said, voice becoming firm again.

Mayuri looked to the Commander and grinned. "I have been working on a new containment cube that will be controlled by the towers. It will immediately trap the intruder, or intruders, in the containment field keeping them from wreaking havoc throughout the soul society. Hence the intruder is hollow." He crossed the floor as he talked about his new project. "I have tested this on many different levels of the hollows and even the espada, arrancar, I acquired while rummaging through Las Noches in the first war with Aizen. It has tested perfect on each level and none were capable of breaking the containment field. However!"
He spun and looked at the group in the room, his finger lifted gesturing like he needed a moment. "I need to test this out on a few more subjects." He looked to Kisuke. "Your Goddess for one and that wonderful former Seventh Espada Vacanze. I would also like to test this with the strength of Captain Ukitake's zanpakuto as well as Captain Hirabayashi, Captain Mutsu, and Captain Zaraki. I already tested it with ice so I will not need the prodigy child." He paused and thought for a second.
"I might even bring in the Kurosaki kid." His eyes were still averted toward the ceiling hand drawn to his chin headed tilted slightly.

Shunsui chuckled to himself. “It’s true the usual barrier around Seireitei hasn’t been fixed since the start of the first war, when Kurosaki broke in. It is a good idea to update it. For a long time, it didn’t seem to be worth it since Aizen was stronger than it…. “ He continued to muse to himself in a lower voice and then glanced back up. “Though I wonder how long or how well it hold the strongest of us, I think, considering what has happened here today. I would like this project to take priority, even rush it and deal with any problems as they come after.”
