"But she don't have her family there. It's not just Tervaden and Kadaj. They're missing Sojiro." Kisuke's eyes lit up. "Sojiro?!" He rushed to the door and flung it open finding the first officer.
"Go to Sixth Division. Tell Captain Kuchiki I need to speak to him immediately. Tell him to come to Fourth Division Medical Ward. I am with Gin Ichimaru. After you're done there go to the academy and find Sojiro Ichimaru! Do not approach him, but stay close to him. IF ANYONE APPROACHES HIM. EVEN HIS MOTHER, HIS STEP FATHER VALE TERVADEN OR EVEN HIS LITTLE BROTHER. STOP THEM!"
"Kisuke..." Gin called to him pushing up from his chair.
Kisuke's hand came up and stopped him as he still looked back to the officer. "GO! You will be relieved by another soon enough. Until then YOU DO NOT let Sojiro leave your sight for a second."
The officer nodded, asking no questions, he disappeared headed to the Sixth Division then off to the academy.
Kisuke turned back to Gin as he was now walking toward him. "Back in bed with you, you're going anywhere in your condition."

Gin punched Kisuke in the gut, though with his weakened state, it really didn't do much except make Kisuke step back and narrow his eyes at him. "That is for not telling me about Kita marrying Tervaden a while ago. And for you to pay attention."
He sat down on his bed. "Neither of them will take Sojiro now. He's at the academy and still training. But Aizen waited to make his announcement until he was at First Division, and -- as you said -- he's part of the big family. One of them will come later. Not now. Right now, Sojiro's still holding himself back. When he's reaches for his full potential, then you can panic. But right now, you have bigger fish to fry."

Kisuke refrained from knocking him out as he stood in front of him. "Yeah? And what bigger fish do I have to fry beside the one standing in front of me?"
He grabbed the sleeve of Gin's robe and drug him back over to his chair forcing him to sit. "If you move from this chair you will not like what happens when I get my hands on you. Now talk to me."
He sat back down in the chair across from him. "You're not talking." Kisuke growled at him. "And if you're thinking they won't come get Sojiro now, the medication you're on is affecting your brain worse than I thought. Kita and Sumi could train him better than any of us here and they have Tervaden and Aizen for his Soul Reaper powers. So stop trying to out think this situation. You're over your head when dealing with the two of them together. Plus, if they do tap into that darkness in Kita." Kisuke fell silent shaking his head as he mumbled.
"She's dangerous."

Gin let himself be dragged from the bed back to the sunny chair. "If you insist on me getting more sunlight, I will stay in the chair, shop keep. But no, I am not wrong on this." He paused. "They might have the advantage on training him. They might be able to tap Kita's power. But bringing Sojiro into Las Noches now is not smart. For one simple reason."
"My son is light. He's his mother's child. He might have grown up in Las Noches and with his family being torn apart here and there. But he abhors Las Noches and Aizen. Bringing Sojiro in means risking any leverage or balance of power they have on Kita. They're waiting. Waiting for that spark I told you about when he was eight years old and for something more concrete to form from threatening his family and/or friends. Waiting for the darkness of our family to get a grip."
He grinned. "So you need to keep your eyes on the Academy and his friends, and I need to borrow your wife."
When Kisuke blinked at him like he had grown a second head, the smiling reaper elaborated. "I'm the piece Vale tries to eliminate. Repeatedly. But you're not keeping me down long. And she's one of the few who can keep up with me."

Kisuke shook his head. "I disagree with you." Gin looked at him as Kisuke chuckled. "Yoruichi can not only keep up with you but leave you in the dust of her path." Kisuke fell silent as Gin narrowed his eyes at him again.
"Can you be serious for once?" Gin growled at him.
"I am," Kisuke chuckled. "Also I disagree with you about Kita. You know how she hates to be apart from her kids if she has decided to join them and if not--" Kisuke fell silent again. "You know how Aizen likes to use her loved ones against her. At this point in the game if she is not doing what either of them want, he is the only one they could use on her, and being your kid, Tervaden might not hesitate in going along with it."
Kisuke looked out the window seeing Byakuya headed toward the medical ward. "And to get Sojiro to do what they want of him... it might put another in danger."

Gin's eyes followed his own and his eyes narrowed slightly. "Papa Bear won't like that, and it wouldn't be the first time someone has used emotions to get their way," he muttered. He turned back to Kisuke. "However, Kuchiki, for all of his faults, is not a fool. She's already been in danger ever since he decided to become serious about the mother." He rubbed his throat, hand lingering on the scar. "That is, if someone wishes to continue knocking Soul Society's pillars down."

Kisuke nodded slowly his eyes drifting back to Gin. "This is going to be a long week and weekend. I can feel it in my core." As he and Gin looked to one another Kisuke spoke up again. "We have to stay close to the kids--Damn it!" Kisuke stood quickly from his chair as his hand lifted and he rubbed the back of him neck.
"We can't seem to catch a break anymore."
Kisuke looked up quickly from the floor as he heard the click of the door and it opened slowly, Byakuya stepping into the room.
"Sorry for the urgency, Captain Kuchiki, but an issue has arisen." Kisuke told him stepping toward him. Kisuke did not spare a second as he started explaining to him what he and Gin spoke about. After a quick run down, Kisuke paused and looked at Byakuya as he stood there in thought, a displeased look on his face and in his eyes from the new information just given to him.
"What are you thoughts on this matter?" Kisuke asked him.

Byakuya sighed. As if the threat from the ring of kidnappers wasn't enough to worry about during the festival, but at least, he had considered some of this when the bastard had appeared at First Division. "I believe you are correct. It is the students who are most at risk at this current place in time."
The noble captain looked to the wounded fox. "And you are fortunate that Sojiro has the blessing of the family, Ichimaru. Or this would become the final detail in the reasoning for breaking up their relationship."
He looked back to Kisuke. "There are a few things we can do to make the Academy more secure. First of all, someone needs to convince Satoshi Tetsuya to return to his position as a teacher there. Tervaden will think twice of showing his face to him if he has - in fact - turned once again. And Tetsuya was present last time the school was attacked. He would do all in his power to prevent another disaster." He paused. "In the past, I would have requested that Ukitake persuaded him, but since he has passed on, I am not sure who would be a good candidate for that position."
He looked to the window. "It may become easier to persuade him with my next proposition." When Kisuke adjusted his hat and waved him to continue, he explained. "If we were to create a part of the grounds of the Academy for the growing Eva and their parents, the gods themselves may not allow anything to happen until they are of age. That could give a window of time for any other measures. As well as bridge any gap between the present students and the Eva."
"My final suggestion would be the immediate preparation of a barrier of some kind, either a hybrid of Kido and science, or a new kido, one that will erect at the first sign of danger there."

Kisuke went into thought with Byakuya's last suggestion. "Hm," he mummed as he rubbed his chin and looked to the floor. "That might work. Tessai has been working on a new Kido though he is not too sure how it will stand against the Ayakashi if they were to get involved."
He paused and looked to Byakuya once more. "Right now we have two Eva infants. Satoshi's and Kenpachi.
"And you know this how?" Gin ask.
"News from Satoshi to the academy, about how he will be out longer from this joyous addition to his family and Kenpachi has been taking his new baby daughter around showing her off and bragging about her since the Goddess brought her to his division." Both Gin and Byakuya looked to Kisuke like he had lost his mind speaking about Kenpachi in such a manner.
"What!?" Kisuke exclaimed looking pointedly at Byakuya. "You mean to tell me he has not made his way to Division Six with her yet?"

Captain Kuchiki rolled his eyes at the exclamation of the shopkeeper and the snickering of his pet reaper. "I did not bring up the Eva for you to start rambling like a fool," he growled, decidedly not trying to picture Zaraki with an infant over his head. There were too many important details he had to consider. He could not afford to be distracted.
He looked to Ichimaru as their present Commander feigned a pouting session.
"Since I highly doubt you will be up to your patrol of the Rukongai, is there another you would recommend for the job? The festival is upon us and I am no closer to finding the lair of the kidnappers. And even though they were stopped from kidnapping Ayako Ueno, they have not become any less-"
All three men froze as the alarm sounded around them!

Following her soon to be father's reiatsu, Makino burst through the Fourth Division's gates, the guards fast on her heels as she then planted her foot firm on the ground and shunpo'ed into the medical building. She stopped for only a brief second and looked down a hall, feeling Byakuya's reiatsu coming strongly from that direction. She disappeared just as the Captain called out to her, and the guards dashed into the building after her.
Down the hall and a quick turn, Makino was in the room of Gin Ichimaru. "THEY TOOK HIM! AGAIN!" Tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked to the three of them. The hand of her opposite arm then lifted as she wrapped her hand around her injured arm where the demon's Cero had caught her arm as she move from its path.
"They got him again. Why? Why can't they leave him alone?" She whimpered.

As Kisuke grabbed Ichimaru and kept him down, Byakuya wrapped his arms around his daughter and led her to the unoccupied bed. “Stay still, Makino, and breathe. Focus on your training.” His eyes narrowed at the sight of her wounded arm. “I will be right back.”
He stood up and looked to the guards. “Stop standing there! One of you get a healer and two of you bring Saya Masanobu here now!” The group fled at the icy tone.
Byakuya knelt down at Makino’s side and set his hand over her bloody arm. “You should have stayed in the academy, Makino.”
“But Soji…”
“I know,” he murmured, “but running off right now, in your state, could have led to your capture or further injury. From multiple parties. You are no stranger to dangerous situations. You can't react like this.” She nodded slowy, her face still pale. With a pang in his chest, he brushed her hair from her cheek and started to let healing energy into her wound.
“Now tell me what happened. Speak slowly. Start with what is easier."

Makino took a deep breath and exhaled. "We were talking about what we were dressing as for the festival in Kido class while waiting for it to start. As Shin was expressing his thoughts about what I said..." she paused to take a breath as it hitched. "This man, hollow..." her head shook quickly as she looked to Byakuya. "Demon. He had red eyes and fangs, claws as long as my fingers."
"Sada!"
She heard Sojiro's father growl in the background and a short lived scuffle, as the Commander told him to sit. She looked up at Byakuya her eyes tearing up again.
"Father...Please tell me...Please tell me you are going after him?"

Byakuya felt another tug on his chest and closed his eyes. It was proof how close he had tied himself to this family. That pang in the region of his heart. He had to answer her. “Makino, we will try.”
“Try?” she whispered, pitch rising in fear.
As he would in a training session, he caught her sparkling eyes with his own steady gaze before continuing to speak to her. “Makino, we wish we could go for him immediately, but we don’t know where he is. There are two places Teruo could have taken him. And the enemies there are powerful. Aizen is only one of the dangers there. It would be foolish — and perilous — for us to rush in now.”
He hesitated and then offered his hand to her. “We will do what we can. Trust us.”
Trust me. Please.
He paused. "And trust to Sojiro's strength."
Before she could reply, the door sprung open again, another student gasping in the doorway.

"Soji-kun... won't... give up... that easy..." Riku rasped as he leaned on the door frame of the medical room in Squad Four.
His skin was pale and he looked exhausted from flash stepping all the way from the Academy to Fourth Squad while following Makino's spirit ribbon. He staggered further into the room and collapsed on his knees, barely keeping himself from face planting on the floor. Vaguely, he registered that Commander Urahara and Sojiro's father were also in the room, with the latter being forced down onto the bed by the former. Riku made a mental side note to make Makino teach him how to shunpo that far in so little time once the situation with Sojiro being taken was resolved.
"Sojiro's will is strong," he said again when he caught his breath. "He won't succumb so easily. Not after being held in Las Noches for seven years. Whoever that man was, Sojiro won't give in to him easily. I know he won't. He wouldn't leave all of us. His friends and his family. He'd fight to come back. That's who he is. He's a fighter, not a quitter."
