"Second Try":A distraction. Out of everything she and Vale spoke on earlier, his calling Ulquiorra a distraction settled with her. She hadn't put up much of an effort to defend or prove Vale wrong. But, then again, why would she? There was nothing between them. Was there? She walked quickly while lost in thought, quickly finding herself in front of his room door. She knocked softly.

Ulquiorra heard the echo of the knock up on the top of his tower where he was perched. Recalling his wings, he returned to his room and opened the door. “Good evening, Lady Azayaka.” He bowed.
Azayaka bowed slightly. "Ulquiorra." She averted her eyes and took a step back. "May I come in? It's been a while since we've spoken." Finally letting her eyes meet with his mossy green eyes, Azayaka stepped forward again. "Please..."
Ulquiorra nodded. "You don't need to ask," he murmured, stepping back. "As Aizen's daughter, it is our place to defer to you." He closed the door after her and put his hands back in jacket.

"How much would you respect me, if I go around demanding things simply because of who my father is?" She shook her head, turning to face Ulquiorra. "Not that I doubt that you would not follow me. You are the most loyal of the Espada."
She wandered the main room, occasionally looking at Ulquiorra. "The last time we spoke, you said that I should learn to look past the obvious. I'm sure you've heard of my...scuffle with my father. And then, this morning, Tervaden tells me that I need to stop trying to be my father. Would you agree?"

“I have heard,” Ulquiorra stated, “and yes, I would agree. Every time you have tried to be your father, it has resulted in failure. Besides your long years of deception in Soul Society.” He paused. “Azayaka, how did hurting Captain Ukitake feel?”

Azayaka flushed angrily. "I felt nothing." she snapped. "Why do you ask? That's a stupid question. Why would hurting him do anything for me? Especially after he tried to turn me against my father. I could have killed him and still felt nothing." She leaned against a wall, her eyes to the floor. "Why ask?"
She looked up, her brow furrowed and lips turned downward. "Why?!"

Ulquiorra removed his hand from his jacket. “I misunderstand, my lady,” he stated. “I am not questioning you, testing if you felt pity or kindness to the old man. I mention him because, on that occasion, you were most yourself.” His eyes rolled to the window. “You weren’t trying to be your father. In fact, it was for your own purposes that you enjoyed torturing the captain.”
"When were you watching?" she asked. "I didn't see you."
"You were focused on your victim," the Fourth replied. He turned back to you. "It is often my job to watch. You are a part of the surroundings, so you won't escape my view."

Azayaka sighed, relieving herself of the growing anger. "I can't say I enjoyed it, Ulquiorra. I really felt nothing. I was numb. I simply acted without having to be asked. But, I felt nothing." She held out her hands, now stricken with a slight tremble. This conversation was faring no better than her conversation with Vale. In fact, Ulquiorra had managed to anger her.
"So, when I'm not attempting to be my father, I am a torturous mad woman. Wonderful." She looked to Ulquiorra. "Do you have any tea?"

Ulquiorra nodded, hesitated, and then left the room, to the small kitchenette. He returned shortly with a cup and handed it to her. As she took it, he returned his hands to his pockets. “You seem distressed, my lady. That was not my intention. If you don’t want to be a,” his eyes narrowed slightly in concentration, “a mad woman, what do you want to be?”
“That’s obvious,” Azayaka muttered, slightly less angry with the calming tea. “I want to be something my father approves of.”
Ulquiorra nodded. He turned slightly away to ponder the problem, walking to a place where the moon streamed in. He turned back to her. “In a hollow’s world, that would mean practicing your strengths and don’t try to be something you aren’t. When you perfect that which you are good at, you become something more than another meal - you are a worthwhile asset. Worth keeping and strengthening. That is what fraccions are.”
He paused. “Become your father’s fraccion. Support him in all things. That is something you have already done, but don’t try to bridge the gap. Your strength will grow by watching the master, not coveting that which you don’t have.”

Azayaka slowly sipped her tea as she thought on what Ulquiorra had said. Ulquiorra was right. As was Vale. She would fail so long as she followed in the shadow of her father. She needed to watch him. Learn him. Not be him. If a fraccion was what she needed to be....Then, she would take the role.
She took another sip of her tea. "Tervaden said that you were a distraction for me."

Ulquiorra blinked. "That is hardly something he can judge," he finally said, walking back to the kitchenette and pouring a cup of tea for himself. "You are too different from him." He returned and took a seat at the small table in the room. "What warrants a distraction for himself could be different for you."
"Do you think you are a distraction?" Azayaka pressed.
Ulquiorra looked up to regard her. "Is what we have similar to what you enjoyed with the Septima?" he asked in turn.

Azayaka remained quiet. The very thought of Vacanze sickened her. He was a traitor and was going to die for it. "I don't think that is a very fair question, considering what he has done." She took another sip of tea and began to pace the room again. "But, yes...I think it is."

Ulquiorra set his tea aside and rose as well. “If that is the case, then Lord Tervaden might be correct.” He looked away from her to a space on the wall. “Then again, you removed that distraction after your return, or so it seemed.”

"I spoke out of anger, Ulquiorra." Azayaka set her tea in a table close by. "Vacanze...I'm sorry. I let my anger get the best of me. And, perhaps that could have gone unsaid. "

Ulquiorra looked back towards her. “He is now trash, my lady. He should no longer concern or influence you. However,” he walked back to his tea and picked the cup up again, “how you deal with the past between you two is not my business.” He took a long drink, finishing the liquid, and set it back down. He hesitated and then continued. “I am here to serve your father - and yourself - in any way you see fit, and I will accept any rewards you deem necessary. Nothing more. I will not press you.”
