"Don't Judge a Book by its Cover":After Ulquiorra had locked them in the room, Kita and Sojiro had made themselves comfortable on the couch together. Sojiro climbing up in his mothers lap as she cradled him in her arms. They talked until Sojiro started yawning, his mother coxing him to get a little rest. Finally agreeing after his sixth yawn his mother hummed a song to him softly as she rocked him to sleep. Letting her fingers softly comb through his silky silver hair, she watched him sleep in her arms, her mind drifting back to so many years before; to a time she was trying hard to forget, but never could.
She smiled, cried and even giggled softly hoping not to wake Sojiro. Though, her most precious memories were of the time Sojiro was created and when she and Gin spent the day together in the Godly realm talking about names for their little bundle of joy. There were others that stayed fresh in her mind, many she would never forget, but she did have to admit with all that happened to her and the hell she lived through and saw. The good memories outweighed the bad, thanks to her beloved, and best friend. Without them she would have never survived Las Noches or Aizen, even with the Goddess on her side.
Looking down at her her little man in her arms, she pulled him close and stood slowly, walking over to the bed. There she laid him, covering him with one of the blankets on the bed. She then looked around the room, spotting a door. The bathroom, she hoped. Making a path to it she opened the door. Her hunch was correct. She stepped in the room closing the door behind her to shower and get cleaned up.
When she was finished and drying off Kita realized there were no clean clothes for her to change into. With a sigh, she finished drying off and wrapped one of the big white towels around her and exited the room. Across the room on the other side of the bed was a tall dresser like closet, she followed her feet over to it opening it up. Sure enough Espada uniforms one for her and a smaller one for Sojiro. She sighed again shaking her head.
"Someone really need to get a scene of fashion around here." She spoke softly to herself.
Once she was dressed she looked down at the outfit. It was a long dress with a slightly flared skirt and formfitting top that covered her her from her neck to her ankles. It had no sleeves and zipped at the side. It did have a slight plunge in the neck line that was shaped like an upside down spade, the small collar turned up covering her neck. With it was a haori that stopped about mid-thigh with sheer, large billowing sleeves.
Kita giggled softly, she swore if they were not see-through she would have been able to hide Sojiro in just one of the sleeves. She looked to the boots still on the floor wrinkling her nose.
"We will have to have Ulquiorra fix that." Kita picked them up and put them away.
She then turned, looking at the door Ulquiorra told them that if they needed him all they had to do was knock on it and he would answer it. With quick steps Kita walked across the cold marble floor in her bare feet. Once in front of the door, she pulled her toes up placing one foot on top of the other and knocked. As she waited she shivered wrapping her arms around her she rubbed her arms quickly.
"Burrrr..." Kita said softly.

A few moments later, the door opened and the stern Espada stepped into the doorway. “What is it?” he asked. His eyes narrowed as she shivered in front of him, casually going over her appearance. Finally, he surmised her reason. "It would be better if you would wear the footwear provided. Most of the coolness is in the stone, not the air.”

Kita looked down at her feet, her toes still curled and one foot on top of the other. Her head shook as she looked back up at Ulquiorra. "I don't like the boots. There... Ugly. Could I get sandals?"
Ulquiorra raised his eyebrows. “And you would be warm enough with the sandals?”
"Well my feet would not be on the cold floor at least, and it is not like I will be walking in snow." She nodded, "yes sandals will work." She looked down at what she was wearing and smiled. "I just don't think the boots work for this outfit. I have to say its one of the better ones I have seen. I would prefer my own clothes, but since I can't have those..." she looked up at Ulquiorra again the look on his face was questionable. She was not sure if she was annoying him or confusing him.
Her hands then shot up as she pushed them forward in a halting like motion. "I mean you don't have to go get them now. I can wait until tomorrow." Her head tilted slightly and her expression changed to a soft cringe as she bit at her thumb, "but do you have a pair of socks I could use for now? The floor is really cold."
“Get in bed,” the Espada murmured. He turned around. “I will return with your sandals. Does the boy want them as well?”
Kita blinked her mind going south with Ulquiorra's statement and the treatment she seemed to get around Las Noches. His question about Sojiro went right over her head.
"I..." she backed slowly away from him her heart racing and past events flashing in her mind as she pointed over to the couch quickly looking over to it then back to him. "I'll... be over there." She turned quickly pulling her haori around her and went to the couch with her eyes cast to the floor.

Ulquiorra rolled his eyes and closed the door. Back on his side of the chambers, he reasoned that his particular choice of words might not have been the best choice he had made. So she was that vulnerable to the time she been at mercy of his colleagues and Master? But she seemed to have no ill will or scars in regards to her lover’s actions. Interesting.
He left his tower to find some suitable shoes, making more observations from their short exchange, particularly on the uniform. Not many had had the nerve to request alterations. Though Karin Kurosaki had altered hers on her own. Perhaps, if he could use the apparent ugliness to his advantage, too….
Ulquiorra knocked to warn her and entered with a box in hand, two paris of sandals on top. “You will find more variety in there. If the shoes don’t fit, I expect to be notified.”

While she sat waiting for him to return Kita realized she may have missed judged him and took what he said wrong. After all, Ulquiorra never harmed Orihime while she was there. Maybe she just over reacted with everything that had happen in the last twenty-fours hours. When she heard the knock on the door, Kita looked up her eyes meeting his deep green ones. She reached out taking the boxes and set them on the couch next to her. Letting her legs slide off the couch, her feet to the cold floor again. She looked back to the Espada.
"Thank you," she did not keep eye contact with him long and her tone was rather mute. "I will let you know if there is anything else we might need or issues with the shoes." She folded her hands in her lap waiting for him to leave.
As he turned to walk out, Kita looked up quickly, hoping her stopping him was not the wrong thing to do. He stopped but did not turn around to look at her.
"I am... sorry. I judged you before thinking."

“It was a logical conclusion,” the Fourth murmured, still not turning around. “Many would have meant to take that which you seemed afraid of.” He cocked his head in her direction. “And despite your higher inclinations, you are still human.” He looked ahead again. “You fear becoming less more than anything and will do anything to prevent that.” He started walking again.

Kita shook her head and stood quickly from the couch. She looked at Ulquiorra as he walked away. "That's not true. I don't fear for myself. True I do not like being beat on and mistreated like Aizen thinks he needs to do with me, or anyone for that fact," her head shook again, "but I don't fear for myself. I fear for my loved one. I don't like and I don't want..."
She paused looking away casting her eyes to the floor. "No one deserves to be treated like this. It's... wrong."

Ulquiorra paused again. “Considering the crimes against you two, Ichimaru’s betrayal and your assistance in the attempt of his death, the punishment was minimal. And if you would not resist your place in the hierarchy, there would be less beating - as you call it.”
He sighed, deciding to take this talk a step further. “You should also know that Yumiko was correct in her assumption that Aizen - unless threatened - will not harm your son.”
“That’s not the same as staying away from him,” Kita muttered, still looking at the ground.
“He is Ichimaru’s son. And the attention will be seen as an honor. There is a reason why few have touched either Yumiko or yourself. There are rules here." He continued towards his door.

She looked to him shaking her head. "That's not the point Ulquiorra. Aizen has polluted your mind. Humans, Soul Reapers, Gods and even Hollows where given the gift to reason. Not so they would be lead or pushed around. At the rate Aizen is going he is putting 'us' at the same level as an animal. We are the highest on the evolutionary chain because we were given the ability to reason. In reasoning it means you have the right to your own thoughts, your own ideas." She sighed, her head shaking slightly once more as she turned away from him to the couch. "Not to be forced into following someone else's dreams and goals and not to be killed or beaten to near death or death if they don't agree with that persons ideas."
She looked across the room at her sleeping child.
"Everyone has the right to succeed in their goals and dreams, but there is a right way and a wrong way to do it and Aizen is doing it the wrong way. I don't dislike him for what he trying to do. I dislike him for the way he is trying to do it."
Her head turned as she looked at Ulquiorra, which by surprise to her had not left or tried to attack her from speaking her mind about his Master. "And power is not everything in this game. It's a bonus that most abuse and I am just as guilty with my powers as everyone else in this palace."

Ulquiorra chuckled, turned, and lifted a hand from his jacket. “You have quite a few misconceptions of this world in that argument of yours, woman,” he murmured. He looked to his hand. “I will prove that you are wrong.”
“I doubt it,” Kita muttered.
Ulquiorra didn’t blink. “The natural world - the world of humans - is the foundations of all the other realms that rely on it, and within that world, the blood of the land dwells on the same principle. One, simple idea. And that has NOT changed here. The natural order of the universe IS survival of the fittest, and power-”
“SEE!” Kita barked. “I knew you would say that. The point of my argument is that WE ARE NOT ANIMALS.”
Ulquiorra placed his hand back in his pocket. “Are we not? Does this ability of reason really separate us from our roots?”
“Of course it does.”
“Another misconception,” the Espada stated firmly. He took a step toward her, intense green eyes staring into her own. “It seems you are suffering from even more troublesome beliefs than the Inoue woman, and it is for your own sake that I will explain the stark reality you are clouding with fancy words.”
He took another step towards her and she sat on the couch. The espada continued to regard her, deep eyes like stone. “I will start from the end of your argument and work upwards, into that which seems the most difficult for you to see. Unless you choose to interrupt me.”
He paused. Waiting. It had to be her choice to venture into this realm with him. At least the appearance of these these steps had to be seen as of her own will.
Kita shook her head, hands tightening on the skirt around her legs. Eager. For what he offered or the chance to prove him wrong, it didn’t matter. She had taken the first step.
He would give her the next one.
“Power has always been a factor in the world. It is power, the ability to adapt, defend one’s own life and territory, and to find enough sustenance, that determines if an animal lives or passes on from this world. It is a crucial component. Our weapons and fancy forms are just like an rhinoceros with his horn and thick skin, a snake with his bite and strength, or a wolf with his speed and jaws. By using our powers, we determine our fate on the hierarchy, alpha, beta, omega, and the right how to control others.”
“Aizen is the king of this realm, but he has the power to seek more. It is his right. And it is only natural that those lower than him either follow or suffer repercussions. A pack does not survive on songs to night sky or nursing each other’s wounds. It survives on suffering for mistakes, weathering pain, and adapting to the leader’s needs or desires. Likewise, the environment shapes itself around the pain and death of others. Fire erases decay to make way for the new opportunities. The strong ride the weak. And too much weakness in the land - too many of those who would be prey - erode the land itself. All good intentions are paved in blood.”
“You’re still talking animals,” Kita muttered.
“Am I?” Ulquiorra retorted. “What happens when mankind unleashes hordes of cattle upon the fertile landscape and let the numbers only grow? The sky becomes putrid and the land decays. When people crowd around a lake and take all they want and never stop? It disappears. What stops this activity? Wars cut off the population and unification gives the land time to breathe. There are less weak if the power of money is distributed. But greed - man’s greatest flaw - leads to more wars. And even more men become skeletons but feed nothing. Waste. Because there is nothing to save them. They have no leader and no power to withstand the test of time. Because they forget their roots, the natural order, of weakness and power, humans are nothing but trash upon the world."

What Ulquiorra had said hit a nerve, a nerve Kita thought she had buried long ago. It's not like she had not thought about it, but not in detail, not like he had brought it to light. Kita shot up from the couch her eyes narrowed, her finger pointing at Ulquiorra as she stepped toward him. "And it is those greedy bastards; like Aizen! That has caused the decay of the world! Without those assholes! Without humans! Mother Earth would be a better place! Its the power hungry bastards that have brought us to," her arms were flung upward as she gestured to everything around her. "THIS!"
In a huffed she turned from Ulquiorra, "it has nothing to do with what is right or wrong! Not any more! Man has made it into who has more money, who has more power!" She spun around, seeming slightly calmer, her blues eyes glaring down on Ulquiorra. "Who owns the world... Mankind's greed for owning everything he touches has polluted not only the world but the realms as well," she stepped back up to him, this time getting a littler too close for comfort. "And your Master," she poked him in the shoulder. "Is trying to sit at the top. His greed and power a hundred times worse than any other mans. Do you really think it is going to get better?"
Ulquiorra was silent as he looked into her angered eyes.
"Do you?! Greed breeds more greed." She bellowed. "It's not going to get better. It is going to get worse. The Gods just need to destroy all of mankind and get it over with." She stepped back, turning away from Ulquiorra again, her hands flat, palms down as they crossed in front of her and quickly went outward to her sides. "All of them! Give the Earth back to the Earth! Kill them all! Down to the las..."
Kita stopped mid-sentence her face expressionless as she stumbled back a step bumping into the couch causing her to take a quick seat. She looked dazed as she drew her hand to her head and looked away from the Espada. "I--didn't mean any of that."

A faint smirk curled up Ulquiorra’s lips and he looked towards his door. “Out of the necessity of your son’s rest, I will leave our discussion to be completed at another time. With a couple more points. If a man has that much power, why shouldn’t he reach for the top? Or would you stay in the shadows of mediocrity, within the limits of being devoured or forgotten?” He turned on his heel. “If there is one thing reason gave us that animal didn’t have, it’s to seek out a reason for our existence. That is why the Espada follow Lord Aizen and that’s why you are the Goddess’ vessel and why Aizen will become a stronger King.” He left the room, closing the door to his chambers.

Kita sat were she was not looking Ulquiorra's way as he left their room. She wrung her hands looking at the tiny form sleeping in the bed.
Kill them all... The words repeated themselves over and over again in her head. Did they really slip from her mouth? She had not had that thought in her mind for years. Many years, and today. Today with just a few words from the Fourth Espada. Those thoughts had returned. Flooding back into her mind.
She could not shake the feeling that washed over her. What she said to Ulquiorra felt so right and what everyone has tried to lead her to believe felt wrong. Kita shook her head as Sumi's words echoed in her head. "It is not my place to stop any of this. I cannot choose sides or what can and cannot happen. I can only watch and record what is done. However, that is me, not my vessel." Kita grabbed her head quickly, "No. No! NO!! It's wrong. It's wrong to think this way. A life is a life no matter who's life it is. Good or bad. If it was meant to be, it was meant to be. If it was not, the Gods would have ended it long ago."
She pulled her legs up, wrapping her arms around them burying her face between her drawn legs and chest. Slowly she rocked herself as she remembered all the talks she had with Kisuke about this topic through the years. It was he that helped her see the error in her thoughts, and he was right. If the Gods wanted to stop what is going on, they will, and they will do it before innocents are harmed. Stopping from rocking herself, Kita laid her head over on the back of the couch, closed her eyes and fell asleep.

"Luck of the Fox":It was not long after Kita laid her head to the back of the couch she was awake again, haunting once more filling her mind. She wrapped her arms around herself rubbing them softly to warm her body and her blood, but she could not shake the feeling of terror from her dream. She wanted to see Gin, not just see him, but hold him, kiss him feel him against her. She looked around the room. But how? No windows and two doors. One leading to Ulquiorra’s room. Bad idea. The other out to the hall, but it was locked. If she could just find something to pick the lock…
She smirked and nodded her head. Quickly she ran to the bathroom. There had to be a small hairpin in there somewhere. She dug around in the bathroom for what felt like hours before she finally found what she needed. It was not a hairpin, but a small thin piece of metal that narrowed at one end. She had only done this twice and it was on the door of her parents home when she had run off forgetting the key. She was curious if she could pull it off again.
She walked over to the door squatting down in front of it looking at the lock. It did not look any different then the ones on her parents home. However, most locks had two catches to be able to unlock it. She sighed and looked at her single little pick. With a sigh she decided to try it out and see what she had to deal with. If she needed two, then it just meant she would have to look for something else to use.
Slowly she slid the piece of metal into the lock and starting moving it around feeling each pin until she found two she needed to press against to unlock the door. Luckily, the pins that needed the pressure applied to them worked to her advantage in being able to open the door with the single pick. After a few minutes and a few odd faces Kita had unlocked the door. She turned and looked at Sojiro which was still sleeping. Now thinking twice of leaving, Kita closed the door silently and walked over to the couch, sitting down.
She looked to Sojiro again, “should I wake him and take him with me? I am sure he would love to see his father, but then again if we are caught by another Espada and it is one that doesn’t like to listen to orders I could be putting him in more danger that way then leaving him behind.” She took a deep breath and nodded standing again. Still barefooted Kita walked to the door of the room and opened it.
She placed her hand to the handle and turned it, the door opening a crack letting the light of the hall spill in the room. She looked back to Sojiro, “I won’t be gone long. I don’t want to take the chance of getting caught and them hurting you.”
Turning back to the door she opened it further peeking out to see if everything was clear. When she saw it was the door opened further, Kita stepping out in the hall closing the door silently behind her. At that, Kita dashed off down the hall on her tiptoes so to be as quiet as a mouse. She was headed to the prison to see her lover, her best friend and companion in life.Moved

"Punishment: Second Phase":With his reiatsu concealed, Aizen stepped up to the door of the room Ulquiorra was holding Kita and Sojiro in. He turned the handle seeing it was unlocked. He shook his head and entered the room. Sojiro was sitting up in the middle of the bed his arms wrapped around his legs as he looked on at Aizen. Crossing the floor he walked over to the adjoining door of their rooms. He did not knock, just entered the room. Ulquiorra spoke before he looked the direction of who entered. "I told you to knock. Not just enter." He looked the direction of the entering person with narrowed eyes, his eyes widened. "Lord Aizen," he bowed quickly, "forgive me Master. I thought it was the woman or the child."Aizen nodded slowly walking toward him. "Yes, I could understand that IF the woman were in the room. May I ask where she is, Ulquiorra?" He walked past a table with a book on it as he picked it up looking at the cover then turned it over looking at the back. Causally, he placed it back to the table and looked to Ulquiorra once more.
