Azayaka looked to Ulquiorra, a slight frown on her lips. "Am I really just a reward for you?" She shook her head and tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. "I suppose I can live with that, since I have to be well acquainted with my...new role."

Ulquiorra met her gaze calmly and followed her hand as she placed a lock behind her ear. “You are underestimating the importance of your role. We are all pawns to your father, but he has never taken a fraccion.”
Azayaka frowned. “That’s not true. He’s had the Snake and the Tosen. They were his righthand men. Now, he has Tervaden.”
Ulquiorra blinked. “From what I have seen, it seems clear that Ichimaru chose Aizen, and Tosen was just another pawn higher up on the list. He was too blind to see it. Aizen’s weapon would not work on him. Tervaden also chose Aizen.”
“I don’t see the difference.”
“A fraccion is more than a servant or a follower. Chosen by his or her master, a fraccion is raised up to a level of greatness, just below the master. You will never lack a place to belong - if that is what you wish - and you will be closer to your father than any of his followers, even more so than Ichimaru would have. It is an honor, Azayaka, not a demotion.”

Azayaka nodded. "I understand, Ulquiorra. I have been looking at following my father as some tidious task meant to keep me distracted." She shook her head, looking away from the Espada. "It is an honor, not a demotion. I understand." She walked over to the couch and sat down next to Ulquiorra.
"I appreciate your insight. But, you failed to answer my question."

“You asked if you are a reward to me, correct?” She nodded. He was silent for a few moments. “Yes, you are. And I have never sought a reward before.” His mind flashed to the sunlit hair of the Inoue woman, but even that thought had dimmed with her change. “It is usually beneath me.”
"It's beneath you to be rewarded?" Azayaka said with a chuckle. "I see no harm in rewarding you for your loyalty to my father and myself. Is that a problem?" Azayaka gave a quick glance to Ulquiorra. "If it is..."
"You and your father are one of the few who are not trash in this desolate realm," he responded, answering her implied question. He reached over and placed another stray lock behind her ear. "If you do not see a problem, neither do I."
Azayaka smiled and reached for his hand. She nodded acknowledging his answer. "Anything else you care to speak about before I take my leave?"
Ulquiorra's lips lifted into a glimmer of a smirk. "You are the one with questions today, my lady, not I. If I have eased your mind, then I am satisfied."

Azayaka rose from the couch and walked towards the door. Ulquiorra followed close behind her. "Thank you, Ulquiorra." She gave a slight bow before exiting the room and heading back to her own. He conversations with Tervaden and Ulquiorra provided her with what she needed to work side by side with her father. She would no longer be a failure or a disappointment. She wouldn't.

"Creating Darkness": Ulquiorra strode down the hall from throne room towards his own room without looking up. Lord Aizen had changed the plans due to the destruction of his throne room. Ulquiorra's mind turned on the events - the way the powers of other Ayakashi had finally left their mark on his master's plans. Kagawa had captured Kita the human vessel and defeated the traitor, Gin Ichimaru, when the snake had followed. Their friends - Ulquiorra allowed a glimmer of a smirk to rise - had been too preoccupied by Loki's incompetence as the Substitute and their inability to halt more of the Ayakashis' brand of chaos and despair to do much of anything useful, allowing even the nigh-uncontrollable Teruo to serve a purpose beyond his usual mayhem. He'd brought the boy. With those kind of pawns in his control (and the noble in Tervaden's control), they were crumbling. Ulquiorra had been waiting.
Pushing his door open, he entered his quarters and bowed at the table by the window. "You sent for me, My Lord?" he called out.

“Ulquiorra,” Aizen spoke his name as he turned with his usual smirk. “I have an on going mission for you.” He watched as Ulquiorra's eyes closed and he bowed his head ever so slightly. Aizen then motioned toward the table in the room as he started walking toward it.
Both of them sitting, a fraccion poured them a cup of tea. “This mission is of the utmost importance and one that if you fail--we all fail.”

The Espada nodded as he took the information in. “I would never fail you, my Lord. If this is something within my abilities, it will be done.”
He picked up the tea, more from habit than preference. Not that he had a preference as far as a flavor. He only noticed taste at certain times. At the moment, Aizen's inclination for this setting did not mean enough to warrant that kind of attention, not when he was finally being called on once more.

Aizen nodded, “I am glad to hear that, Ulquiorra. I need this mission to flourish for us to succeed." Aizen paused tilting his head slightly. "Now tell me, what are you thoughts on the Goddess and her vessel?”

Ulquiorra tilted his head. "I know the goddess will never bend to your will, but her attachment to her vessel leaves her vulnerable to other ways of persuasion. The vessel is necessary for any plan to succeed and that she has an irritating protective streak." He looked to his cup of tea, losing himself in the dark liquid for a moment, and then raised his head. "But to be honest, I find both of them confusing and unfathomable."
"Explain," Aizen murmured.
Ulquiorra nodded. "I have yet to see a reason why a goddess would choose such a weak being as her vessel. Miyamoto's weaknesses are too apparent - I am unsure how long she would last on her own - but power always has a purpose."

Aizen chuckled softly while lifting his cup to take a sip then placed it back to the table, "The vessel is not as hard to understand as you think, Ulquiorra. Human yes. However, this human and yourself have one thing you share in common."
"I apologize, my lord," Ulquiorra murmured, "but I don't understand how that could be."
Aizen's smile grew wider. "You both hate the human race."
Ulquiora stayed quiet for a few moments. "It would explain why she seems to only associate with the powers of the other realms and didn't disappear after her first visit here." He paused. "And family bonds are a different matter."
Aizen's head shook slowly. "One would think that, but when I was the old man, Gray, she revealed all this to me in confidence. She loves her family and friends, and will protect them as she can; but at the same time, and at rate the human race is destroying the world, she would rather see them dead so they will be some place safe for when the world does disappear because of mankind's ignorance." Aizen took a sip of his tea lowering the cup back to the table. "But her friends, her lover. They keep her heart and soul in the light. They sway her to not see things--" Aizen paused as he smirked. "Like you."

"I don't see things?" Ulquiorra repeated, confused. His eyebrow rose as his master chuckled.
"They have blinded her from the truth she knows to be true. Changed her thoughts to fit their needs, instead of her desires." Aizen looked into Ulquiorra's deep green eyes. "Your mission, Ulquiorra, will be open those blue eyes of hers once more. Remind her. Show her. Teach her once more about the real truth of the humans as you know them to be. As she knows them to be, and has so casually forgotten about. She is a logical person. Only the truth will sway her to our side, and what better truth then for her to see it with her own eyes."
Ulquiorra was silent for a few moments, thinking over the mission. He could not afford to fail so he needed to carefully consider all angles. Aizen waited, sipping his tea and looking out at Las Noches. Finally, a faint smirk rose on the Fourth's lips. "I can show her the truth you need. If logic is the key to turning her to your cause, there is plenty for her to see. " He bowed his head. "She will rain enough despair on the Earth to finally break the human race into submission to their natural habitat and leave her friends behind."
A part of him also wondered what Kurosaki would do when another of his friends changed and he could not stop it.

Aizen smiled, nodding his head. "Stay at her side as much as you can while she is here, but don't make it seem too obvious. Get to know her. Learn how she thinks, her dreams and desires. The better you know how her mind works the better you can influence her.”
He stood to his feet still looking at Ulquiorra. "I believe you can reach her better than even I could, and you have never had issues with her like myself or the others here have. I believe she will learn to trust you if given the right interests and the right situation." Aizen turned and stepped away from the table as he still spoke to him. "She is very inquisitive; she wants to learn everything down to the last detail. Give her this and you will have captured her mind and interests in a way only Urahara has done."

Ulquiorra rose from the table as well. His hands moving back into his jacket. “There may be one problem with your plan, my lord.” he murmured. Aizen waited. “Your appetites leave her drained. She wants nothing more than to give into oblivion. That kind of despair leaves little opportunity for the kind discussion that would lead her to the truth." He inspected a mark on the table. "I believe humans would count trust as difficult in that situation as well - if she hasn’t surrendered yet.

Aizen looked over his shoulder at Ulquiorra. He smirked and a slight chuckle emitted from him. "Are telling me to keep my hands off her in your subtle, Ulquiorra manner?" Aizen chuckled again and turned looking at him pointedly. The Espada bowed again. "I would not do such a thing. I am only saying that at the moment, as things stand, there is little room for this mission. It will be a challenge to get as far along as you wish me to.""Noted," Aizen replied with a stern nod at his fourth Espada. "I will keep a fair distance from the woman. Give her the room you think is needed in this." He turned again his back to Ulquiorra once more. "Set up a room for her and the child close to you and I will leave her in your care from here on out." Ulquiorra nodded with a slight bow, "As you command.""Ulquiorra," Aizen called to him one last time. "Keep her away from Ichimaru. She is not to be anywhere around him." --END RP-- Return to the Lab
