Kita handed the kimono to the lady of the shop and nodded to her in approval that she would take it. Looking back to Yumichika she smiled.
"If there is something you need to do or would like to do I am sure I will be fine. Go ahead. If I need help I will ask for her help."
She then started looking through one of the others racks in front of her. She pulled another off and looked at it then returned it back to its place.

Yumichika chuckled and vanished into a changing room with his kimono. After Kita had discarded two more, he emerged again and handed it to the matron but withholding the red sash. "I wish to leave this part behind. The artist should learn that wearing a red belt of this particular shade with his masterpiece ruins the beauty captured. It clashes with the vermillion sun. Do I make my point clear?" he asked imperiously.
Kita giggled as the matron seemed to take his tirade without batting an eye, bowing and offering him and new shade from a selection in a drawer.
Yumichika huffed and pulled out a rust brown one. "This will do. It's dark and suits the season portrayed." He added it to his kimono and turned to Kita. "How are you coming, darling?"

"I have chosen three I really like." Kita replied. "The wedding dress I am going to wait until Tsukiro comes back from..." Kita stopped short and smiled brightly. "I think it would be best to wait. I know he will love it, but I don't want him to get upset when we agreed to plan this wedding together."
She hoped Yumichika would not be upset by that bit of news. When she looked at him he did not seem to be phased by it. Walking up to him she kissed his cheek softly as she whispered in his ear.
"Wish you could rub off a little on Tsukiro." She pulled back and giggled softly as she raised her finger to his lips laying it across them. "Shhh, I did not say that aloud." She said slightly above a whisper.

He chuckled quietly. "I heard nothing, he agreed in a sultry voice, kissing the finger. Taking the kimonos from Kita, he walked up the desk, saying over his shoulder. "I will have it placed on hold. That shouldn't be any trouble since it is myself who is requesting it." Yumichika waved his hand as the matron produced a figure. "No, no, if this was my first purchase, it would an acceptable price. We both know it's not." He shook his head again as she produced a different number. "Still too high. Who's the artist? Kita, be a dear and wait at the benches over there while I handle this outrage," he called out in the same breath. Kita started to stay it would be fine when she noticed the laughing gleam in his eyes. Yumichika was enjoying this. Giggling, she did as she was told, watching from a distance as the haggling commenced in earnest between the matron of the shop and her charming escort. For a moment, she thought for sure that the matron had been angered by one of his figures as her expression became severe, but it didn't seem to phase Yumichika, who turned around in mock disgust before bowing elegantly and saying something that seemed start the debate once more. Amused, Kita continued to watch their expressions and acting until Yumichika struck a pose and threw down a card that seemed to end it. He walked over to her, smirking like a cat who had caught the canary. "Shall we adjourn to a restaurant for a lunch, my lady?" he asked, handing her a receipt that didn't show prices but a list of the items and a time when they would be brought over. "I feel the need to take my ease after dealing with that kitsune over there." "Should you really be calling her that?" Kita chuckled, shaking her head. He scoffed. "She enjoys it. It means she has the best in the district and we know no matter how extravagant her prices are, we'll come back. Besides," he turned and bowed one last time to the woman, "I'm a favorite of hers and I got a lower price because she wanted to know where your beautiful hairpins came from." Kita giggled. "But I can't tell her that. Yoruichi gave them to me, and besides," she lowered her voice, "they're one of a kind and serve another purpose." "Oh?" her escort purred, following her out. "What would that be?" As they walked down the street, Kita explained about the daggers and Yumichika vowed he would teach her how to dance with such important weapons.

"Tetsuya":Satoshi studied the intricate detail of a painting, pushing up his glasses as if they aided him. A low hum escaped him, as he ran a finger along the jagged edge of the parchment.
A gentle breeze blew, filling the air with the scent of jasmine from a nearby stall. Satoshi wandered toward the next stall, doing as he done with the other vendor - He pulled a piece of parchment from his keikogi and showed it to the vendor.
"Are you familiar with this man or his name?" he asked the small man chewing on the mouthpiece of his pipe. The man shook his head but offered the assistance of a vendor two stalls down. Staoshi thanked him, returning the parchment to his keikogi.
Making his way to the man two stalls down, Satoshi bowed quickly. Looking over his glasses at the elder man, Satoshi asked his question. "Are you familiar with the name Seto Tetsuya?" The old man nodded and began to describe a man he had met earlier that day.
At the end of their conversation, Satoshi nodded. He left the vendor, grateful for the information shared, and headed toward the place the old man had mention during their conversation. Moved-- END --

"A Noble Custom" continued: Dressed in a blue grey kimono of fine silk and black hakama, Byakuya walked slowly through the crowds of the Shopping District. It had been a long time since he had been here - since he had purchased a pin for Rukia for her promotion actually - but it seemed that the merchants had recovered from Las Noches’ regime. The same vibrant colors danced in the breeze and shone off displays. But it was not the gaudy that he was looking for. Casting his eye to the other side, he continued his search. Pausing in the middle of the road at the site of a peddler with wooden combs of ivory wood. He moved on. It wouldn’t do to buy something too personal. He quickened his steps.

Wandering from one of the popular herb shops, Saya adjusted her bundle in her arms after tucking the herbs in a safe place. She looked up out into the street. She had one more stop to make. A stop she wanted to make days ago but was never able to. She turned to her left starting her path to one of the more popular tea shops in the district.
As she walked along she came across a merchants table blanketed in beautiful scarfs of all colors, textures and fabrics. Looking through them her hand grazed a few of the fine silk and sheer scarfs.
"Lady Saya, what a surprise." the merchant bowed slightly to her.
"Hello Tanaka. I see you have new merchandise this week."
"Ah yes. My wife found a new fabric shop a few weeks ago." He picked up a lovely sheer pale yellow scarf with white flower blossoms.
She reached for the lovely scarf letting the smooth fabric brush against her fingertips. "Its very beautiful."
"You are one of my best customers. If there is anything that catches your eyes, I will give you a generous deal, Lady Saya."
Saya looked from the scarfs to the merchant. "That is very kind, but I have so many now. I don't know what I would do with another."

“Perhaps if you would be generous enough to help me choose one that would serve me purposes, I could obtain it for you,” a smooth voice interjected from behind her. As she turned and the merchant bowed, Byakuya nodded. “Good afternoon, Lady Saya. It seems we are fortunate enough to meet again under favorable circumstances."
Saya smiled warmly to Byakuya with a proper bow to the man. "Kuchiki-sama. It is an honor and it is very kind of you to offer. However, there is no need. I am honored and pleased to help you in a moment of need."
Byakuya bowed. "Very well. If you insist, I will not press you. But it was no inconvenience on my part." He paused. "I need something to attract the eye but is not too delicate or will wrinkle too easily."

Saya hummed softly in thought. "Something to attract the eye but is not too delicate or will wrinkle too easily?" She questioned softly then looked to Byakuya. "For a woman?"
Byakuya nodded as he looked to the table of scarfs.
"Pardon me for asking Kuchiki-sama," She bowed slightly. "but this woman. Do you know her? Personally. Maybe something more to go by perhaps? There is so much to catch not only a woman's eyes but a mans as well."

Byakuya was silent for a few moments, unwilling to say that he knew little about her personally. “She has a discerning eye and….” He almost gave away the details about the daughter, but he decided against that. “She is a widower who is devoted to her daughter, even if she takes her own path.” He turned, looking at a scarf near him, feigning interest in another purchase. "It is not much to go on. I apologize if I ask the impossible."

Saya smiled softly at him. "It is enough. If she has a daughter I am sure she is like any mother. She knows more than her share of hurt watching her child stumble and fail then to rise to try again until they have gotten it right. Being a widow she struggles alone now that her spouse is gone. I am sure she is not trying to catch the eye of another, but would not reject it if it stumbled across her."
She looked to Byakuya then to the scarfs on the table. "We do not want the gift to give off the wrong idea." She gave Byakuya a side glance to see if he objected or other wise.

However, his eye had been caught by a scarf that had been hidden by the others and in a trance, he reached for it. Sky blue rippled into yellow and orange tints before returning to blue. Like sunlight trapped in water. Like the river that flowed on one side of the city. “Hisana….”
“Kuchiki-sama?”
Byakuya closed his eyes and let the scarf go, turning his attention back to the lady he was with. “I apologize,” he murmured. “No, it is not for a particular occasion. It is an exchange of gifts. And her generosity merits my own.”

Saya nodded. "Maybe something to match her gift? Depending on the gift if it were handmade by her herself or merchant perched. My children find that buying their mother things that she can use in her hobbies pleases her."
She looked to Byakuya picking up a beautiful lavender sheer scarf with lovely silver sparrows in flight adorning the fabric. She looked to the merchant and nodded as he took it from her nodding in return.

Byakuya’s eyes softened in amusement as she admired the fabric with the birds’ silhouettes and selected it. “A fitting choice for you if you had to choose one. It suits your name and your choice of accessory.” He nodded to the ribbon in her hair swirling in the breeze. "Like the wind."

Saya returned his gaze after turning from the merchant. If he only knew. "Thank you Kuchiki-sama." Saya turned when hearing the merchant call her name. Taking the package from his hands she turned back looking at Byakuya.
"What do you say we discuss this over a cup of tea? I know a very nice Tea Shop just down the street. I was headed that way when my eyes were caught by the lovely scarfs."
