"Kita of course. And Yoruichi sensei and Kisuke. And a few others that I wouldn't dare give the satisfaction of hearing me say they are a big part of my life."

Shunsui raised his wakizashi. "Attack with zanjutsu, nothng else. Focus on one blade thinking of them, but brace yourself for my words."

Tsukiro did as he was told, raising his swords in front of him, breathing deeply. He tried to focus on one of them. Immediately, his mind went to Kita. He shook his head. No. She was his weak spot. He had to put her out of his mind for now. He had to pick one of the others.
Yoruichi. Yes, thinking of her would make him strong. Untouchable by the commanders insults. When he was ready, Yoruichi and her teachings firmly rooted in his mind, he flashed towards Kyoraku, feinting with one sword, then attacking with the other.

Juushiro watched from the sidelines as Tsukiro's reiatsu finally calmed down. It would seem that Yama-jii's ways still worked, beating the student until they voiced their frustrations and weaknesses. Then, Shunsui, like Yamamoto before him, could truly begin teaching. He chuckled wryly.
He may have never wanted to take your place, Yamamoto Sensei, but now that he has accepted his burden, he's becoming more like you every day.

Shunsui wove around Tsukiro's attacks, eyes sharp with concentration, catching some swings on his wakizashi and dodging others. The student had lost the heavy edge of his attacks, choosing to replace that weight with swift precision like one he knew well. But as he caught both blades with his own, he knew the conviction wasn't quite right.
Instantaneously, he lashed the point of his blade out, flipping the shorter zanpakuto out of the youth's hand.
"Is that the best you've got? If Kita only has a boy who can hide in his teacher's shadows she really has no chance of real freedom at all."
He flipped in the air and blocked Tsukiro's incoming blade with the side of his own and met his eyes. "Reach into what you are channeling and expand it." He kicked Tsukiro backwards. "You are you. What gives you strength?"

Tsukiro back flipped and landed on his feet with ease. He ignored the commanders comment. Kita didn't need him to be free. She was more than enduring enough to free herself. She wasn't some little girl with a Cinderella complex.
I am stealth force. I command all of the Shihoin Clans military. Even Soi Fon falls under me.
He flashed around Kyoraku in a blur of black, he struck out with his swords. One going across his back, the other at the back of his legs.

In a matching blur, Shunsui drew his tachi, effectively blocking both moves and locking one of their blades together.
"Well done, young man," he complemented smoothly, "but was it a fluke?"
They broke apart. Stepping into shunpo, Shunsui striked at Tsukiro, taking the offensive.
"Since Kita's in my care, don't you think she should share that luscious body with myself?" he taunted.

Tsukiro kept his grip from tightening. He felt his nose scrunch in anger but he ignored it.
"I don't think she'd be attracted to an old fart like you. After all, you still can't even land Nanao in bed." He smirked at the commander.
He disappeared and reappeared in the air. He raised his hand, palm forward.
"Souren Sokatsui!"
Ah the huge plume of blue flame erupted from his palm, he used the cover of the kido to disappear again and sneak up on him from the side, striking upwards.

"Tenran," the commander murmured in turn, forcing Tsukiro back and around him away from the tornado blast.
As the wind died down, Shunsui's voice echoed out once more. "You have no hope, Tsukiro," he called, imitating Sousuke one more time, "I am more man than you ever could be. She'll forget you." He raised his zanpakuto horizontally in front of him and a yellow orb formed. "It's only a matter of time and how often I have her in my bed."
"Oukasen!" A torrent of golden energy leapt forth.

Tsukiro dodged and appeared behind him. "You know, you and every other man in Soul Society want to talk about Kita like she's a piece of premium meat. You all say that you're more man than I'll every be and its just a matter of time before you have her."
He shook his head in shame and pity. "Yet I'm the one she's with. The truth is, I'm the one she chose. I never did anything to seduce her. She chose to be with me. All I have to do to keep her is be myself. She's never asked any more or less of me. THAT is why we're together. We accept each other for who we are, and we love each other endlessly for the same reasons. All of you are sad and pathetic to think that she'll leave me for some reason as stupid as 'I'm not enough for her.'"
Tsukiro raised his sword to Kyoraku's back. "That's enough. I get your point. I'm done with this crash course lesson of yours. From this point on, were just exchanging blows and insults. It's boring."

Juushiro chuckled quietly as he listened to Tsukiro's speech. "Maybe it is enough. We won't know until it's tested on the field," he admitted aloud, half to himself. He turned to Hisagi. "I hope you didn't mind too much that it wasn't you who got thrashed, Shuuei-san." Hisagi laughed. "I think I can stand missing out," he replied sarcastically. At that moment, the commander laughed loudly. "If it's boring, shall I turn up the heat?" he called out. "Katen Kyokotsu." His zanpakuto formed into two large scimitaurs. "Lieutenant Shuuei, join the fun," he hollered, raising one blade. "She's just getting interested in this." Juushiro shook his head and rubbed at his temples. "What did Ashimitsu-san say this time?" he muttered.

"Reunion":
Tsukiro wandered around the shops and marketplace of the Seireitei. He had meant what he said to Kisuke, yet still, he was doubting his ideas. Not because he was unsure of himself, but because he felt they were unfair. To one person in particular. He sighed, stopping at one of the blacksmith stalls. There were all sorts of knives, swords and blades. He picked up a kunai knife, twirling it in his hands. He hooked one finger around the loop at the base and spun it around, wrapping it around his hands before clamping down on it, stopping its rotation.
"You're awfully skilled with that knife," the merchant grinned at him. "You in the Stealth Force?"
"I used to be," Tsukiro smiled back. He replaced the knife and moved on to the next stall.
He sighed again, still not able to fully convince himself of knocking someone down for his own gain, right to or not.
Suddenly he heard his name being shouted out form behind him. He turned around.

Kairo rushed up from across the road. “It really is you,” he exclaimed. He slapped his best friend over the head with a thick piece of parchment in his hand. “Don’t just disappear like that with no warning. You could have at least said a good bye to your friend before you vanish to that forsaken mountain.” He smiled and offered a leaf of the parchment to the merchant behind him, who took the order with a short bow, then folded the rest back into the sleeve of his rust red kimono.
Kairo chuckled. “You look better than you did at the festival a couple weeks ago, Tsukiro, but it seems you’re still not quite back to your old self. Want to talk about it? Or are you going to ask the trees? Again?

Tsukiro rubbed the back of his head and gave his childhood friend a halfhearted glare. "Oh give it a rest. You've known me long enough to know I can disappear without warning. As for talking to the trees." He smacked him over the head. "Don't be stupid. And don't make me sound like a hippy! I'm not a tree hugger!"
He sighed and looked up at the horizon of the Seireitei, his eyes landing on a district he knew very well. "I'm fine. I'm just second guessing myself. I know what I have to do, but I don't know if I should."

Kairo slapped him over the head again. “Talk to me then, idiot,” he demanded. “I can’t do anything if you leave me out of it.” He nodded to the merchant and accepted a heavy tarp with large kunai knives. “I will have the last two components finished in two days’ time, if the Captain doesn’t mind,” the blacksmith commented in his gruff voice, rubbing the back of his head.
Kairo nodded. “That is what he expected. Please bring the package over to the barracks when they are complete.” He looked back to his friend. “Do I need to smack you again, or are you going to actually say something helpful this time?”
Tsukiro gave him another glare. “What does Captain Ukitake want with kunai knives?” Kairo shrugged. “I don’t know and neither does Rukia.” He narrowed his green eyes, making sure Tsukiro realized he wasn’t going to let this go. “Don’t distract me. Are you going to tell me or not?!”
