"Dragon VS Snake":
Hitsugaya sat next to Rangiku, his back against the wall. She hadn't woken up yet since the first time. And since that time, Hitsugaya had scarcely moved from his spot next to her. Of all the people staying at Kisuke's shop, he had been with her the most. His arms crossed and tucked into his sleeved, legs stretched out with his ankles crossed, he watched her sleep. Some of her color had come back, but she still hadn't fully recovered.
On the other side of Rangiku sat Gin Ichimaru. If Hitsugaya had it his way, Ichimaru wouldn't be let anywhere near her. She didn't need anymore heartache. It would only keep her from recovering. He sighed and tilted his head back against the wall, closing his eyes. He had been with her most of the day today as well, only getting up to eat or use the bathroom.
He still blamed himself for not being able to protect her. He was only a few feet away from her during the fight and still this happened.

Gin tapped his fingers along his arm. Usually he was better at waiting than this. His whole life had been a game of waiting after all. However, this delay in Rangiku opening her eyes gnawed at his insides in a way that almost nothing else could. A breath of cold tickled his neck and he looked up, meeting Captain Hitsugaya's eyes for only a moment. His eyes narrowed as he sent his own ire at the short soul reaper in return.

Hitsugaya narrowed his eyes back at him. "If you don't like being in my presence, then get out. I don't want you anywhere near her anyway. All you'll do is stunt her recovery. You've made her suffer enough so leave her be until she does wake up."

"You aren't my boss, Hitsugaya," the snake retorted with a sneer. "And you're the one who didn't defend her." He chuckled nastily. "Funny, more often than not, it seems she's saving you. If she hadn't interfered in our duel, you would have been defeated long before Aizen could have twisted your hatred for him."

Hitsugaya scoffed. His nose scrunched up his teal eyes sharper than diamond.
"And people call me a child. That was a pretty childish thing to say. You're pathetic Ichimaru. And I won't be done in by your provocations. Like I said. If you have a problem, leave and leave her alone. You've hurt her enough in your lifetime. Yet for reasons I can't understand, she still cares about you."
He turned away from him, ignoring him. Truth was, his words irked him more than he let on, but he wasn't about to let him see that. He wouldn't give him the luxury.

Gin chuckled quietly. "It's not something I can stop," he murmured to the last comment in the kid's rant. Nor will I.
Truth be told, he realized that was petty, but he didn't like the feeling welling up inside him, and usually being nasty to one of his favorite victims cleared any misconceptions right up. For a moment, Gin had almost apologized to the captain for getting her this hurt. That apology belonged to Ran, his childhood friend, not the child captain, who was always irritated at his friendship with Rangiku and so much fun to torment.

Hitsugaya sighed heavily. He knew that Ichimaru wouldn't be able to keep her from caring. However he did have the power to stay away from her to keep her from suffering. But he knew he wasn't going to do that any time soon. He hated him for that. Even when she was dying because of him, he wouldn't walk away. He was so damn selfish that he refused to leave her be, even if she died because of him.
He had to hold himself back from attacking him. He knew that wouldn't do her any good, so he said nothing more and ignored the snake. Even when the dragon inside of him begged to rip into him.

After a few moments of silence, Gin choose to break it. He tilted his head on his hand in a way that always rubbed the boy captain wrong and when those piercing teal eyes found his, the fox asked one question.
"Do you think it would help if I walked away now?" he murmured in a voice absent of his usual high-pitched mischief, but the light dancing his azure eyes seemed to bely the seriousness of his tone.

Hitsugaya whirled his head around to look at him in suspicion and disbelief. When he saw he was serious, he said one word.
"Definitely."
He saw a flash of... Well, he didn't know what it was. He sighed and rubbed the back of his neck.
"I know you care about her, but if you keep this up, next time she will end up dead. And you might as well figure that goes for anyone you care about. Aizen doesn't give a damn who it is, if you care about them, he'll use them against you. And it will WORK."

Gin lowered his head, back to the still comatose face of his childhood friend, only love, and so much more besides that. Could he hurt her to release her from the threat their relationship caused her? Did she mean enough to him that he could break the one thing he had held onto since the beginning of his lonely path? Slowly he pressed his hand over her limp one. Wake soon, please. For one last time...
When he realized the boy captain was watching his movements closely, Gin released her hand and stood from his seated position at her side, turning around to leave.
"I'm thirsty," he called over his shoulder and left the room without another word.

Hitsugaya watched Ichimaru leave them, turning back to Rangiku.
"Sure you are."

"Bartering Chip Part 1":While Aizen entertained the mice. Loki slowly walked around the shop, reiatsu sealed. His job. Find the female soul reaper. At all cost she was to be taken. He could feel Ichimaru's reiatsu coming from the shop. So he had to move carefully. Finally, he found the right room. He peered in the open window. The room was empty. But for how long. Quickly he went through the window gathering the woman over his shoulder. A voice. Then the door moved. Loki was gone as the door slid open to the room.

Toshiro walked into Rangiku's room only to find her gone. His eyes widened and his heart raced. He knelt down next to the bed. His eyes narrowed at the reiatsu he felt. Espada. He leaped out the window and followed the trail at his top speed.
"No way in hell you're getting her too!!"

Gin snarled when the espada burst from the room, revealing his scent. This was going too far. He froze a moment later, sensing another signature in a different part of the town. He clenched his fists. Aizen. He took off after Captain Hitsugaya and Rangiku.

"A Blessed Fail":Kisuke walked into the room where Rangiku and Izuru were laid out resting. Thankfully Orihime noticed the fighting and went straight to the shop knowing if anyone was hurt she would be needed. They all were happy to see her when they arrived back at the shop. Gin's attack was severe but no vital organs were hit.
Kisuke was still feeling like crap. The thought of what they were going to do to Kita. The thought of Gin turning on Rangiku and Izuru. Aizen's words of killing Yumiko and Kita if he did not come back to Las Noches safely. All of it turned his stomach. Sliding the door closed Kisuke walked over and sat next to Izuru, adjusting his hat he looked over at the still-angered Hitsugaya.
"In a way-- I am glad you failed," Kisuke told him in a voice barely above a whisper.
