"Treasure Hunting":
Shin'o Academy student Riku Asuhara wandered through the famed Seireitei Commerce District. It had been over three years since he had been here. Parts of it looked worse for wear compared to the last time he saw it, but it still held many wonders to be explored and discovered. Riku had his medium length black hair pulled up in a pony tail with his fringed swooped to one side. Cobalt blue-gray eyes were filled with excitement. He wore a lavender yukata with interlocking golden rings around the sleeves and the bottom, and underneath he wore a tight fitting long sleeved shirt and slim black pants. Over his shoulder was a bag, attached to his hip was a large coin pouch filled with handfuls of Kan and gold coins.
Riku was walking down the long street of merchant stalls when something shiny caught his eye. Instinctively his eyes flickered over to the cause of the glinting sparkles. His gaze locked on to a merchant stall outfitted with beautiful, ornate jars, vases, and other glass wares. All of them were finely decorated and polished to the point the sun was reflected in the colored glass surfaces. They sparkled and shone brilliantly in the midday sun. Riku's breath rushed out of his lungs and his feet carried him through the thick crowd and over to the stall.
"Welcome, young sir," the masked merchant dressed in black and purple greeted him with open arms. "You have fine eyes and taste indeed to visit my stall."
"Did you make these?" Riku delicately picked up a large flower vase with a cinched top and bright blue stained artwork in the shape of blue bells and long stalks of grass. The rim of the vase was dusted in silver. Riku's fingers traced the curves and edges in the vase.
"Unfortunately no. My brother is the talented craftsman. I am merely the messenger bringing his fine artwork to appreciative customers like yourself."
"Fine indeed," Riku seemed to purr as he traced the stain in the vase with a fingertip. "How much?"
"55,000 Kan."
"Ugh," Riku gritted his teeth in distaste. "A reasonable price for something so beautiful. Not so reasonable for a student budget."
"You seem to be a collector of sorts, so for you, let us cut a deal. Twenty-five percent off," the merchant put his hands together that reminded Riku a lot of a praying position.
"41,250 Kan, huh?" Riku set the vase on his head, balancing it perfectly. "I suppose I could fork over that much."
"Excellent!" The merchant raised his hands in glee. "Would you like me to wrap it for you?"
"Yes please," Riku said as he reached for his coin pouch.
Suddenly, there was a rush of wind behind him and the drawstring on his pouch was snapped. The vase still on his head, Riku whipped his right hand out and grasped the wrist of the sticky fingered hand that held his coin pouch. He twisted the thief's arm behind his back and reached his leg out in front of the thief's, tripping him forward onto the dusty ground face first. Riku bend down to one knee and planted his other into the thief's spine. The vase rolled backwards off of Riku's head, down his back. He reached back with one arm, holding the thief's own arm with his other, and caught the vase, saving it from being shattered on the ground. The merchant sighed heavily in relief. Riku handed him the vase and the merchant wrapped it quickly in brown paper.
"Usually people don't like having what is theirs taken from them. But I'll let you in on a secret." Riku leaned down and whispered into the thief's ear. "I dislike people taking what is mine even less than normal people. And I'm positive you don't either. Get my drift?"
"P-please... Have mercy. I have a f-family."
"Liar," Riku yanked the thief up and shoved him five feet away from him into the crowd of people. "Now go before I chop your sticky fingers off, one by one."
The thief darted off into the throng of people, terrified. Riku calmly turned back to the merchant and handed him some gold coins, accepting his vase and thanking the man.
