"Banding the Students Together":As the students started calming down at the sight of four captains and a lieutenant at the top table, Shunsui grinned and stepped out from his hiding place, grinning as the hubbub started again, most loudly at the table Sojiro had sat at. Where he was being half-strangled by a friend. “I didn’t know,” Soji growled, trying to free himself without causing any real harm. “I really didn’t.”
His best friend raised an eyebrow at his scarcely concealed amusement. Tipping his hat, the captain commander continued to walk into the room and stopped in front of the big table, standing in front to look at the students. “Settle down or you might miss something that your friendly neighborhood spy can’t fill you in on later,” he called out in a clear but low voice. The noise died down. “Thank you,” he murmured. One of the older students walked into the room with a chair. He waved his hand to keep the man from the trouble and then turned to the group before him. Three years had passed and though the academy was not as large as it had been, the room was no longer palpably half-full. “You all are brave souls deciding so soon after our dismal attempt to protect you to come fill these halls once again. Especially those of you who were here during the our loss. I am highly honored to have such strong minds looking towards the future. And I look forward to learning more about you. Continue to learn as much as you can here and listen to the others about some upgrades in this year. And remember to reach high but to accept the responsibility of the goal.” He tipped his hat, turned to do the same to head table, and then walked out.

Mitsuo shook his head with a silent huff, his arms crossing over his chest. "The Gotei needs new blood. New ideas. If we did not step up who would?" He stepped around Makino as she stood next to Sojiro. Standing to her right now he looked around her to Sojiro.
"Do you know if Captain Zaraki is going to be here?"

"Nah." squeaked Etsuya, giving a quick glance over his book. He licked his thumb and turned the page.
"Put your naughty novel away, you pervert!" yelled a female voice.
"Hey!" Etsuya slammed his book down on the table, pages down and rose from his seat. "This is art! And, we are all taught to appreciate art. Now, just because no one looks at you the way people looks at these books...Well...That's personal!" He sat down with a huff, taking a mint leaf from his pocket and putting it in his mouth.
"Call me a pervert..." he mumbled. "Your mom's a pervert..."

Curiously, Riku reached over to the table and lifted the cover and some of the pages of the book. Reading some of the lines of text, he flushed yet his eyes grew wider with even more curiosity. Slyly, he slipped the book off of the table and flipped it open to the first page, beginning to read as if he brought the book himself.
Etsuya groaned, reaching over the table and grabbing the book from Riku. "When you're older." he grinned, sliding the mint leaf beneath his tongue. "Besides, it would be just my luck that you get caught with my book and it gets taken. "
"H-hey! I AM an adult!" Riku clenched his hands and pouted. He turned and crossed his arms, lifting his chin up into the air. "Besides. I've read WAY nastier stuff than that."

Etsuya laughed loudly, falling back into his seat. He propped his elbow on the table as he pointed to Riku. "Our anatomy books do not count, dear Riku." A laugh came from nearly everyone at the table.
"But, if you wish to have your curiosity peaked, you are welcome to borrow the book from me. Might I suggest you wait until mommy and daddy have all gone to bed to begin reading."

Makino giggled at the two of them as she turned to look at them. Reaching across the table she placed her hand to the cover of the book pulling it her way. She looked at the cover and handed it back to Etsuya noticing where one of his Mint leaves were tucked between the pages. As she turned back to the front in hearing a new announcement from another Captain, she spoke.
"You're not that far along in the book; chapter ten is the best in my opinion."

Sojiro buried his face in the palm of his hand. “You guys….” he groaned. “Since when is this the time and the place for such conversations?” he hissed, trying to hide his surprise at Makino’s bland reply to the hentai book being moved about and trying to conceal his mounting interest in the book. Just because it was being passed around, too.
Riku nudged him hard. "You know you want to look."
"Do not," he mumbled.
"Then why are you avoiding it?"
"Because...." He lifted his teacup to his lips.
Makino sighed softly. "All guys are interested in a little girl on girl activity."
Sojiro choked and coughed, spurting tea on his bowl. "Wha - What?!" Riku snickered. Soji grabbed him but let him go as Ukitake started speaking.

Mitsuo leaned over toward Makino with a sly grin across his lips. Softly he whispered in her ear. "Any girlfriends you want to bring by my room later so we could play is just fine with me."
He drew back quickly as Makino turned to look at him. The look on her face was priceless, but she did not deny the invitation he offered her. His grin remained across his lips while he watched her turn her attention back to the Captain speaking.

Juushiro looked around the room. “I know there are people with questions that are not answered and others wish to move faster than their peers. When something happens again. But unfortunately, it took time to find a way to accommodate this.” He paused. “Time to rebuild, heal, and regain our fighting spirit.”
“As to the questions about the war and the former captains who brought them about, some questions you will have to learn to answer by yourselves by observing others and listening. But I will be starting an evening class once a month to provide other answers, closure, or guidance. Be prepared if you wish to come. My answers or my guests’ may not be what you are seeking.” He let them take this in for a couple moments. “Although this will be on a voluntary basis, I will have one rule. Only students above first years will be admitted. And I suggest that most second years also consider the consequences of learning something too soon before joining. There is no taking back knowledge once it is learned. It may be better to ask myself or another peer you trust in privacy if there is something you must know.”
He smiled, banishing the pensive mood. “For those who wish to advance faster than your current class, that option is now available.” A hubbub of excitement rose through the students. “But be careful. Your teachers will test you and they will reject you if you fail.” He pointed to Yumichika who smiled like a cat who was about to swallow a canary. “Be sure of your resolve or it may hurt more than you think it will. And I really don’t want to send people to Isane so soon.” A few muted laughs greeted him.
“This is the time to grow and choose why your zanpakutos will or have awakened. Don’t waste them and don’t rush. And don't get lost in the books.” His smile grew as one of Soji's friends whispered to him. "Continue to enjoy your lives here."

When the last speaker told them to make their way around to meet the Captain and or Lieutenants of their chosen divisions, Mitsuo looked to his friends at the tabel as he rose to his feet.
"I am off to find Captain Zaraki." He looked to Makino knowing who she would be off looking for. "Good luck with the freak."
In a flash Makino's fist came at his chest missing by centimeters because he stepped back slightly. He looked down at her clenched hand that softly brushed his shirt. He chuckled quietly as he looked into her eyes. "A little quicker or me being a tad slower, and you could be dangerous to my health."
He turned and walked away leaving Makino with her arm still extended and a soft growl emitting from her.

Riku watched as he spotted Captain Tsukiro Ashimitsu stepping off the stage and into the crowd of students. His heart dropped to his stomach and out of reflex he reached for Sojiro's arm. However he froze and pulled his arm back.
No. He couldn't hang onto Sojiro and be introduced to Tsukiro Ashimitsu. He couldn't be introduced to the captain as a timid young boy. He was an adult, contrary to Etsuya's condescending words. He had seen and done and experienced things that not a lot of people did, nor wanted to, in a very short period of time for a spirit in Soul Society. The captain was brave and confident. Riku had to prove to him that he was too. He had to do this by himself, not with help from Sojiro. Using Sojiro's connection to the captain would gain him nothing.
"Okay," Riku said shakily as he took a deep breath. "Here I go. Off to meet my role model, and hopefully future captain... Wish me luck..."
The words of encouragement fell on deaf ears as he slowly wormed his way through the crowd, getting more anxious by the minute. Riku barely breathed as he worked his way through to the last spot he saw the captain. Eventually, he reached a lapse in the crowd, and on the other side, he spotted him. His back was facing Riku. Riku slowly walked up to him. Vaguely, he was aware of his body going into stealth mode. His feet made no sound as they moved across the ground. His breathing was deathly quiet. Riku screamed at himself internally, questioning why he was trying to sneak up on him. Then, suddenly he realized that it was probably his troublesome Zanpakuto influencing him.
Riku wondered if he would be able to do it. Would he be able to sneak up on the Commander of the Stealth Force, the joint ruler of the Shihoin Clan and the Captain of Squads Two and Eight. He was almost right behind him, raising his hand to tug on his haori when suddenly the captain's head whipped around and Riku was met with piercing blue eyes.
Riku swore every organ in his body stopped in that moment.

Tsukiro looked on at the boy before him, his face flush, his eyes as big as sake saucers. "Are you alright?" Tsukiro ask him. The boys knees buckled under him as Tsukiro grabbed him quickly by his shoulders and moved him over to a nearby chair sitting him down.
Once he had him seated Tsukiro looked at him, the boy was still in a daze his eyes on him. Snapping his fingers in front of his face he asked again. "Hey. Are you alright? Do I need to call Captain Kotetsu over for you?"

Riku's eyes fluttered open and closed several times before they blinked back into focus. Riku let out the breath of air he had been holding in, grabbing his chest. He coughed into his fist. "I... held my breath... for too long..."
Riku took several more deep breaths before he bowed as much as he could from his sitting position with Captain Ashimitsu kneeling in front of him. He waved his hands frantically. "I'm so sorry! I'm okay, really! Th-thank you for catching me." Once again he bowed as best he could. "I'm Riku Asuhara. I'm a second year, and I would very, very, very much love to be in the Stealth Force. It's my dream to put my skills and talents to use for a great purpose! Pleased to meet you, Captain Ashimitsu, sir!"

Tsukiro chuckled lightly as he rose standing in front of the boy. His hand then lifted as he combed his fingers through his long dark hair. "So you're Riku Asuhara are you?" He turned and nodded to Kairo as he disappeared into the crowd. Looking back at Riku he smiled warmly.
"I have been keeping eyes on you. Exceled in Hakuda and several other Martial Arts. Completed all of your Hoho requirements in the first year. Tested out of over half of your Stealth Force classes. Your grades in history and law, impressive. Kido and Zanjutsu skills high as well." He chuckled softly. "Is there anything you can't do?" A smirk pulled at the corner of his lips.
"Besides hold your breath for long periods of time."

Riku flushed like a tomato and stood up from the chair. He nervously pulled at his hair, taking it out of his pony tail and rearranging it mindlessly. "Um, well... My five brothers and six sisters would all tell you that if there is something I can't do, I haven't found it yet. But in my opinion, there's lots of things I can't do."
He put part of his hair into a pony tail with the rest of it laying against his neck. He raised his hands, counting on his fingers. "I can't cook that well. I can't hold a steady relationship. I can't pay attention sometimes when I see something I like. That's usually something shiny or interesting. People call me a hoarder, but I prefer 'extreme collector.' And I talk too much when I'm nervous."
Suddenly Riku blinked and lowered his hands and his head. "L-like right now."
