“I did not say that I didn’t believe her,” Juushiro responded. “I told her what the others saw and that it unnerved them.” He took a sip of his tea. “The fact that you scared your fellow students and friends with a display you don’t remember is what I am emphasizing. This time you wanted to escape - but if you had succeeded, where would you have gone? Could you have defended yourself? And next time?” He looked into his reflection. “It could turn into a dangerous cycle.”

Makino looked on at the captain confused. "Defended myself? Against what Captain? My own rage? If I were able to leave like I wanted I could have calmed down. My rage would not have gotten that great, and I would not have had to go anywhere. Just away from the matter at hand. A nice walk through the garden here or even just around campus would have sufficed."
She keep her eyes on the captain taking a pause then continued. "Allow me to talk to your daughter. I want the truth. She said she did not kill during the takeover. If she did not do it then I am sure she knows who did. I want that person brought to Justice. If they are one of us or not." She paused again. "Not only did they kill my father, but they killed hundreds more. Justice needs to be served upon them. Closure for the ones that have suffered can't be obtained unless the guilty pay for their crimes."

Juushiro sighed. “Maybe I underestimated how far your grief had taken hold from my experiences with others, but the fact that you attacked another student and created chaos in your classroom is the truth.” He glanced down at his hands folded over his cup. “But if you want to speak to my daughter, you may. However, as far as the truth of the matter and your desire for justice, balancing the two will not necessarily be a simple matter.”
When Makino opened her mouth to speak, he raised his head. “I ask you to wait and hopefully when the necessary pieces are revealed, you will find the answer you need. And peace.” He looked to his cup again, voice fading into a whisper. “Without more needless pain, suffering, or death.” He closed his eyes and took a breath. “The truth of the tragedy is layered and shrouded in darkness. Not all of it should be brought to the light.”
He rose from his chair. “The commander has spent three years searching for the way to answer for the wounds Soul Society has suffered. I ask you to wait, watch, and learn. And I will give you my word that whatever crimes my daughter may or may not be guilty of, they do not include your father’s death. Will that ease your fears?"

Makino sat in silence for a few seconds her head then nodding slowly. "I will take whatever punishment I deserve for attacking Mitsuo and disrupting the class." She looked up at Juushiro her eyes determined. "But I will not settle for second best in finding the truth. I understand the causality of war protocol and I know my father was doing his part. He died with honor out there defending the Soul Society and his family."
Her eyes lowered from the captain. "I...I just don't understand why one of our own would do this to us." Tears fell to the table top. "Does this Sousuke Aizen have that much power over people that he can make them kill for his needless destruction?"

Juushiro hesitated and then took her hand. “You were safe with your family then, but when Sousuke Aizen was a captain, there were few who could see past what he wished you to see. I will discuss this more in my class. It will start with Sousuke Aizen and Gin Ichimaru. It has to start there. But I will tell you this now. I was friends with him. He was admired by captains and students alike. And before he betrayed us, the fifth division was the division most wanted to enter. They wanted to lend that man their strength.”
He pulled his hand away. “That kind of charisma, and insight into people, is still one of his most potent weapons against his enemies. He knows how to trap, break, or woo a person depending on his own wishes. He is one of the most intelligent people you will ever meet.”
Juushiro sipped his tea. “But he is not to be trusted. His mind is darkness and until he finds what he seeks, the world is his stage. He has thrown everything that has not served his purposes away and he will continue to do so. Even if …. he has decided to keep you alive, it does not mean you have been spared his brand of cruelty.”

"I understand. I have read all that was allowed for me to read on the man, but not much was there after his rebellion and nothing but gossip on him with what he has done while in Las Noches." She looked to the captain again.
"Can you tell me one thing?"
Juushiro looked at her with questioning eyes. "It depends on the question. Ask and we shall see."
Makino nodded, "Is it true that Soji-kun's father, Gin Ichimaru has changed and he is no longer with Sousuke Aizen?" Her head shook, "I have read and heard a lot of good and bad things about the man."

“Gin Ichimaru,” Juushiro murmured, “is a man of many faces. He chose to be all but raised by Sousuke Aizen and was the closest person to that man. He has committed many sins and wore many masks for his brand of justice. But if you want to know the answer to that question, Tori-san, ask Soji. Ask how his father came out from a coma and why he did not excel in his first year.” He rose from his chair as the doorbell rang.
“I will take my leave of you and leave your punishment to your mother. This is, after all, your first offense. And I was being cautious.”
Makino rose and bowed her head. “Sir, do you know you're not making this easy?”
Juushiro smiled warmly. “You are a Masunobu and someone who wishes to protect our people. For you, a simple truth could be the most dangerous thing you face. If that is still your wish.”

Saya rose and bowed to the captain. "So you will not be joining us for dinner?" Her tone holding a slight note of disappointment.
"The night is already growing later than I had hoped. And I have another appointment tonight that I cannot miss. I have lectured your daughter long enough." Juushiro replied, bowing to her in return.
Saya giggled softly. "The rule in our home is not to lecture over dinner that is time for the family to be together, but thank you Ukitake-dono. I do appreciate the time you took to come and talk to my daughter. I will see that her punishment is fitting for her crimes." She gave her daughter a side glance with a slight smirk.

Makino sighed and lowered her head. "Can't we let Captain Ukitake punish me? I think his punishment would be easier to take."Both her mother and the captain chuckled. "Exactly. That is why I am leaving it in your mothers hands." Makino sighed again and bowed to the captain. "Thank you Captain Ukitake." He looked at her with a soft smile. "For everything. You may not have been able to give me the answer I was looking for, but you have eased my mind some." “Then it has been well worth the effort. Sleep well, Tori-san, and do not give up.” He told her. Makino gave him a bright smile with a slight nod as Juushiro turned and answered the door. Letting the man in as they took care of the food, Juushiro disappeared out the door without another word.

"New Student":Sayoko stood in the opening of her new room, dressed in a short single grey kimono, shorts, and a black belt. Her shimmering black hair was tied up in high ponytail. Her pretty eyes seemed to be blinking without emotion, a hard glassy look, and her lips were turned down into a stern frown. This was her room. A room she would be sharing. That was how it worked unless you were an upper level student. Sayo huffed and put the box of supplies down on the couch before walking on with her small bundle of belongings towards the bedrooms. If she had no choice about this, she would make her space. And she was not patient. Things happened to you if you were slow. She opened one door, finding the main bedroom and then opened the second. Storage and books. Her eye caught one title and she reached for it. Could it be the same book her mother had read to her....? Idly, she turned to the first page, reading slowly.... Hearing a bump outside, she quickly put it down, adjusted her short kimono, and walked out, returning to the main room. Her 'roommate' was slipping off her shoes. She smiled. "Hi, you're my new roommate, right?" She glanced behind her. "Don't worry. I'll clean up. It's mostly books my family gave me. What did they give you?" Sayoko scoffed and leaned on the wall, her hand going to her hip where her zanpakuto was. "I'm no one's child and they're in the way," Sayoko stated. The girl froze. Sayo tossed her hair back out of her face. "Move them or lose them, and I don't need to know your name either."

Makino shook her head and chuckled softly as she pushed past her over to the books that were in a box resting to the floor. As she stood she looked to her new roommate with a bright cheery smile. "I will say this once; and only once. You touch a single thing that belongs to me in this shared domicile and you will wake up with no fingers."
The new girl blinked a few times.
Makino turned and walked away with a bounce in her step back to her room. "Oh, and so you know." She called out to her in her same chipper tone as she walked down the hallway. "I won't be around in the evenings or the weekends for about a month, so you will have the place all to yourself. It seems they don't take lightly to attacking fellow students around here," She opened the door to her room, "but that won't stop me from doing it again if you mess with me or my things."
Makino appeared in the main room with her standing behind her as she leaned over and whispered in her ear. "You can ask my last roommate about that fact."
The new girl spun on her heel to look at Makino, that same creepy, cheerful smile across her lips and her hands on her hips.
Makino lifted a hand from her hip and flicked it at the new girl as she turned away from her. "That is if you can find my last roommate." Makino made a path to the kitchen. Bitch, tell me to move it or lose it. You don't know who your dealing with. Makino mumbled to herself.

Recovering, Sayo finally squared her shoulders and huffed. “I am going to take a shower. Remove the things from my room or I will sleep ON them since you so kindly wish me not to touch them, princess," she hissed. Her eyes flashing like dark sapphires. She picked her bag up from where she’d dropped it and sashayed towards the bathroom. “And if you’re not going to be here tonight, they better be gone BEFORE then. Enjoy your punishment, doll.”

Makino finished filling her water bottle and walked out into the main room catching a gimps of the new girl as she disappeared into the bathroom. "Can I drown her?" She huffed. She sat her water bottle down on the table and walked into the spare room. She made quick work of the few boxes and book that were in there taking them to her room.
She placed them in the corner then quickly changed her clothes. Once she was done she exited the room back to the main room and sat to the couch. She had a few more minutes before she had to leave for home so she looked through her things she had gotten from her teachers that day. It was going to be a pain to go back and forth for a solid month, but it was better than getting up an hour early to get to the academy on time for class. She would deal with the back and forth for the month. As she sat there going through the things she heard the door to the bathroom open and the new girl exit.
"So Miss Attitude?" Makino called to her over her shoulder. "If any of my friends stop by to see me. You had better be nice. I would hate to think you got your ass handed to you by one of them."

Sayoko didn’t think the girl’s remarks needed a reply. As if she would let another student beat her after all she had gone through. Holding the long white kimono against her body and hiding the mark on her chest, her eyes took in the embroidered blossoms on the fine sleeves and collar. She breathed in.
“Did you hear me?”
Sayo straightened. “Yes, doll, I heard you. You’re going to be waiting another century for me to bow. Now, if you will excuse me, I need to get dressed.” She leaned down, letting her cleavage show, and then lifted. Sweeping her long hair back behind her, she headed to the extra room.

Makino sighed shaking her head. "I wonder if Riku wants company while Soji-kun is away?" She straighten her papers and put them away. Rising from the couch she took her things to her room and left them to her desk. She then turned and left her room going back to the main room. As she gathered her things for her trip home for the evening the new student exited her room.
Makino reached for the door handle as she sighed then turned to look back at the girl. "There is plenty of food in the kitchen. I went shopping a couple of days ago. Help yourself to whatever you want or the canteen has good food. Whatever is to your liking. I will be back later tonight." She went to turn and leave the room then paused again turning back to look at the girl.
"And welcome to Shin'ō Academy." Makino opened the door and left her there alone for the evening.
