"Family Visit":Makino sat across the table from her mother as she listened to her lecture her about her meeting of the head of the Kuchiki clan. “Mother. I promise you. I was very respectful to the man. I did not step out of line with him for a second. Well…maybe for a second.” “Makino,” her mother’s sweet loving voice replied.Makino sighed and lowered her head in shame as she rung her hands a top the table. Feeling her mother’s hand rest across the top of hers she looked up at her. “I corrected myself quickly and he did not reprimand me except with a stern look.”

“I told you this would be a bad idea, Maki-chan. I knew someone in one of the Noble families would notice you. Also with Tsukiro Ashimitsu-Shihoin as one of the Captains, if they did not notice you he surely would.”
She lifted from the table walking over to the small kitchenette in the room and retrieved the teapot. She walked back over and poured her daughter and herself a fresh cup of tea. She smiled warmly at her daughter when she looked up at her.
“But I am proud of you. With high marks you have made it through the academy and then turned and decided to do a second year.”

Makino sighed lowering her head. “It was not hard, or well... It was hard. Holding back my true nature; hiding my real powers. Trying to be only second best.” She grunted with a soft growl. “That’s the hard part.”
Makino then fell forward, her head making a solid thud on the table top. “And because of Shin-kun my secret is out.”

Her mother giggled softly as she let her hand hover in front of her mouth. “It’s only your friends and a few of the Captains that know your secret.”
Makino grunted again. "That’s enough.” Quickly she sat up and looked to her mother. “I guarantee by the end of the year. NO!”
Her mother’s head titled as she blinked a few times from her daughter's outburst.

“In six months! If not less!” Makino’s arms were flung outward in gesture to the entirety of the Soul Society. “Everyone! Even the Gotei 13 will know who and what I am! And it won’t be because I made a name for myself as a Tori!” She fell forward again, her head thumping against the table once more. “I wanted to do this as a nobody. I wanted to prove to myself I was strong enough to do this alone.” A muffled sniffle emitted from her.
“I miss daddy…”

Saya rubbed her daughters back as she sat next to her. “I know you do, Maki-chan. This is another reason why I thought this was a bad idea. It’s too soon for you.”
Makino shot up as she looked at her mother with narrowed puffy eyes. “No. It’s not. I need to find out the truth and I am not going to find it as a Royal Guard. Here!” The flat of her hand came down on the table making a loud popping noise. “And only here in the Gotei 13 is where I will find the truth.”
Saya sat up and looked at her daughter. “And you think they are just going to offer up that type of information to you because you want to know?”

Makino shook her head as a smile crept across her lips, “Of course they won’t, but I have one up on them.” “So you think you have one up on them," her mother replied gently.
Makino’s head shook, her smile remaining. “No. I do have one up on them.” Her smile grew. “I am friends with Ichimaru and the Goddess’ son, Sojiro Ichimaru.”

Saya’s eyes widened slightly as she looked to her daughter. “Makino,” her daughter’s name slipping from between her lips with great concern.
“You are playing with fire here. I knew of the one called Gin Ichimaru. He is dangerous. No matter how fast or how strong you think you are... You will find yourself dead if you challenge him.”

Makino’s head shook, “I am not going to challenge anyone mother. Nor am I going to hurt anyone. Soji-kun or otherwise. I just want answers.” Her head lowered again. “I just want to know what happened to father.”
Saya stepped up to her daughter and pulled her into her arms, holding her tightly against her as she petted her long hair. “He died protecting us. He died honorably and in battle as he always knew he would.” She pulled back and cupped her daughter's face making her look her. “Digging up the past only brings more pain.” She kissed Makino’s forehead. “And some things should just remain in silence.”
Makino lifted her head and looked at her mother with a shocked look on her face. “You’re the second person today to tell me the exact same thing.”
Saya smiled, “A very bright individual. Male or female?”
Makino titled her head slightly confused at her mothers question. “Does it matter?”

Her mother smiled shaking her head. “I guess not, but if it was a male I was going to tell you to hang on to him. He is very wise.”Makino stood silent for a second then chuckled softly as she thought of Yumichika. She nodded slowly as she looked pointedly at her mother. “And he is very attractive too.” Grabbing her daughters hands Saya led Makino back to the table. “You must tell your mother everything about this attractive young man you have met.”
Her daughter chuckled lightly at her excitement with the mention of a guy she met and showed interest in. The two sat at the table sipping their tea as Makino told her all about the young man, Yumichika Ayasegawa. When her daughter finished, she walked her to the door, kissing her cheek and bidding her farewell until next weekend when they would visit again.

"Solar Eclipse": After her mother left, Makino cleaned up the dishes that were left behind. There was not many since her mother picked up something for dinner and brought it to her dorm room, but enough to keep her mind busy with something other than her and her mothers conversation. Once everything was cleaned up and put away Makino headed toward the small sitting area.
Passing by a table she snagged up her Kido book and plopped down on the couch, her legs crossed under her as she cracked the spine of the newest book she picked up at the Academy book shop. They were only into their first two weeks of courses, Makino's of course all advanced since she past the first year with flying colors. This year would be her last. She would stop covering her true talents and powers and show them what she is truly made of. A Masanobu. An honorable clan for many centuries. The question at hand now was to change her name from her mothers family name back to what it truly is... Makino Masanobu.
She shook head and looked down at her text book as she blinked a few times. "Page ten?" She sighed and flipped back to the first page. "Concentrate Maki. It time to study not contemplate."
She combed her fingers through her hair pushing it back out of her eyes and face. Getting well into her studies and a few pages later a knock echoed through her room. She looked up at the door and smiled brightly. "Ren-sama..." her words were soft as she closed her book quickly and lifted from the couch going swiftly to the door.
Opening the door for him, Makino had a wide, bright smile across her lips. He looked good standing there in an expensive sky blue kimono with a golden yellow dragon pattern, a white and yellow long haori and sapphire jewels and ornaments in his long black hair which was pulled up into a pony tail. She bowed to the man standing in the threshold then quickly lifted leaping into his arm hugging him tightly.
"Ren-sama, its been too long."

Suisenro Koriyama laughed and hugged Makino back tightly. "Maki-chan. It's been three years, hasn't it?" He pulled back and placed a hand on top of her head. "Last time we spoke, we were talking about you joining the Gotei."
The two of them moved over to her couch and sat down. Suisenro took her hands and smiled at her. "How have you been? Have you been enjoying your classes?"

She nodded joyfully her smile still in place. "Yes, I thought I had learned everything being trained by Grand Father, Father and yourself. But there was still so much more to learn." She started standing quickly from the couch then looked to Suisenro. "Where are my manners?" She bowed to him again. "Forgive me. Would you like some tea?"
Suisenro stood as well and shook his head. "You're fine, dear." He held a hand out to her, tilting his head with a smile. "Let's make it together, shall we? I miss making tea with you. It taste much better when we make it together."
Taking his hand in hers they walked to the kitchen together. Once there Makino started gathering all the things needed to make their tea. Makino was smiles the whole time. She truly enjoyed her time with Suisenro. He was more to her than just a Master and a mentor. He was like one of older brothers.

Suisenro set up the tea cups, saucers and tea pot, dividing up tea leaves as Makino put water on the stove. "Have you been reading anything good lately? I saw the Kido book. You've always been very talented in that subject."
Makino nodded slowly with a soft chuckle. "I have to be. My zanpakuto is a Kido base." She paused as she turned to look at him. "I want to go further in the Kido field. I want to know them all." She hesitated thinking on her next words, but knew she could trust Suisenro. "Even the forbidden ones."
Suisenro paused and studied Makino for a long moment before going back to placing tea leaves in the pot. "I understand your ambition, Makino, but I would be very careful about where that ambition takes you. Not only could the forbidden Kido get you into a lot of trouble, they're forbidden for a reason. The previous Captain-Commander, Shigekuni Yamamoto, lost his arm by using a forbidden Kido against Aizen in the last war against him."

Makino nodded sternly. "I understand this, but someone needs to be stronger or as strong as our enemies when they return."
"You mean if they return." Suisenro offered.
Makino shook her head. "No. When they return. Sojiro Ichimaru says Souskue Aizen will return... and when he does... Like all the others time before. He will be stronger as will his Army." She paused and walked toward him resting her hand to his shoulder. "I want to be ready. I won't allow him to take any more lives of the people I love or other wise." Tears filled her eyes as she looked into his, her head shaking slightly.
"I won't allow it."
