Bleach Unrated: REBOOTEDCurrent Arc: The ChaosEpisode 579 "Figuring It Out": (continued) The hall outside Captain Komamura’s office was eerily quiet, save for the faint hum of activity elsewhere in the building. Nori’s clenched hand hovered over the door for a moment, her mind racing with how to present the situation. “Just be direct,” she thought, inhaling deeply.
Finally, her clinched hand rapped against the wood, the sound echoing down the corridor. Nori stepped back, clasping her hands in front of her. The mystery in the Division's Lock-up was pressing down on her.“Enter,” came Captain Komamura’s calm but firm voice from within. Nori pushed the door open, stepping inside with measured precision. Captain Komamura sat behind her desk, her eyes lifting from a stack of reports to meet Nori’s. Her presence, as always, was commanding but not overbearing.“Captain Mutsu,” Komamura greeted. “What brings you by the Ninth?” Nori bowed in respect to her fellow captain. “Captain, I believe there’s something I need to share with you. It was left on the stoop of the Third Division this morning.”Ryo's brow arched slightly, a flicker of intrigue crossing her features. “Go on,” she said, gesturing for Nori to proceed. Nori walked around the chair in front of Ryo's desk and had a seat. "This morning when I arrived at the office a few things were blocking my path. Why--whoever left it--decided to dump it where they did is still puzzling. But what I found when I opened one of the smaller crates took me aback." She watched as Ryo's interests grew. "Inside this crate were lost, and missing artifacts of the Gotei, dating back to the beginning."

"Lost artifacts?" questioned Ryo. She leaned back in her chair, brow furrowed. "Have the authenticity of these artifacts been verified? I assume not since you said this happened this morning." Ryo was quiet for a moment, tapping on the desk with her pen. "Captain, I am unsure I understand the situation or its urgency..."
Nori straightened her posture, her voice steady but laced with a sharp edge. "Yes, Captain, everything is authentic." She fixed Ryo with a pointed look, her frustration evident in the flicker of fire behind her eyes. "And the situation’s urgency lies in the very nature of the Ninth Division's responsibilities—to safeguard information from theft and prevent its leakage." She tilted her head slightly, her tone growing cooler. "So, perhaps you could explain, Captain, how artifacts such as zanpakutō of the deceased, bundles of scrolls outlining critical strategies, laws, and events, Soul Reaper tools, and—" she leaned forward slightly, emphasizing her final point, "—tomes emblazoned with the unmistakable sigil of the Daireisho archives could just vanish under the Ninth Division's watch." Nori folded her arms as she continued, her words deliberate and cutting. "If the situation isn’t urgent now, Captain, I fear it might become catastrophic once we consider the implications of this breach. Or," she added, her tone light but scathing, "should we simply wait for the next set of 'lost artifacts' to show up somewhere even less fortunate?"
“So…” Ryo smiled. “Instead of giving me time to evaluate the situation…one I knew nothing of until you walked in…You want me to sit here and explain what I do not know. And, before you say that I am supposed to know…I’m not in the best of moods, Captain.” Ryo, very well aware of her tone and the bite behind the words of her fellow captain, she sighed. “Let’s start over, Captain. Instead of demanding I explain what I can’t, why don’t you tell me what you know.”

Nori exhaled slowly, the weight of her frustration evident in her tone. “What I know, Captain, is absolutely nothing,” she began, her voice measured but edged with irritation. “Other than the fact that I now have a lock-up overflowing with Gotei relics and historic artifacts that should never have left their rightful places.”
She crossed her legs, leaning back in the chair, her eyes locking with Ryo’s. “I’ll admit, my tone might be sharper than it should be, and for that, I apologize. But,” she continued her voice hardening, “I find it deeply unsettling—disturbing, even—that these dangerous artifacts ever ended up in the public’s hands in the first place. Their mere presence outside secure archives is a breach of trust and security that we cannot afford to ignore.”
Nori folded her hands in her lap, her gaze unwavering. “This isn’t just a lapse, Captain. It’s a glaring warning sign that demands immediate action.” She shook her head with a heavy sigh. "I have no idea where these relics and historic artifacts came from or even who left them on Division Three's stoop." Her hand lifted as she rubbed her temple. "It's what makes all this so unsettling."

Ryo sighed. This was yet another thing on her list of the many things she had to deal with. "A lapse that neither of use can be held responsible for. And, if by chance we would be...Captain Kuchiki must also be held responsible. The task of securing these and other artifacts falls to the Third, the Ninth and the Sixth. A division of responsibilities which undoubtedly aid in the improper keeping of these things." Ryo sighed again. Her shoulders we heavy and her head began to hurt.
"Whoever the responsible party is in dropping off these artifacts...They know enough of the Gotei's inner workings to avoid detection. So...The culprits...Are either members of the Gotei or...Nobles..." Ryo groaned and leaned back in her chair. "Must we involve Captain Kuchiki?"

Nori inhaled deeply, her frustration momentarily flashing across her face before she composed herself. “As much as it pains me to admit,” she said, her voice laced with reluctance, “yes, he needs to be informed of the situation and the findings. One of the zanpakutō recovered among the artifacts belongs to none other than Kuchiki Kōga.”
Her words hung in the air like a blade poised to drop.
Ryo nodded. Involving Kuchiki might be a mistake. If Nobles were involved, this could, in a way, jeopardize what Ayumu was working on. But, this could not be avoided. "Then perhaps we call a meeting of the three Captains."
Nori's eyes narrowed slightly, her posture remaining rigid. "A meeting of the three Captains," she echoed, her tone sharp. "That may be necessary, but understand this, Captain—time is not on our side. The longer we wait to act, the more opportunities we give to those who orchestrated this breach to cover their tracks or exploit what they've stolen."
She paused, her gaze hardening. "If we involve the Kuchiki clan, this won’t just be about retrieving artifacts. This will turn into a matter of noble pride, politics, and likely much more than either of us are prepared to navigate. We need to ensure that this isn’t just another round of finger-pointing without results."
Nori leaned forward slightly, her voice lowering. "If we’re bringing in the Captain Kuchiki, then we need to come prepared with facts, leads, and solutions—not just problems. Otherwise, this meeting will only slow us down further."

"If we take it to Kuchiki now, or even later, he and his noble pride will see to it that he is the sole person to deal with it." After a moment of silence, Ryo gave a half hearted smile. "Instead of Captain Kuchiki, why don't you speak with Suigetsu Koriyama. She..." Ryo's words trailed off as she thought about her words carefully. "Interested in the...dealings of the nobles done in the dark."
Nori gave a curt nod, her tone calm but firm. “Agreed. Kuchiki will want complete control over the matter, and that could complicate things further.”
She paused, considering Ryo’s suggestion. “Suigetsu Koriyama…” Nori’s gaze sharpened slightly. “That could be a better option. If anyone understands the shadows the nobles operate in, it’s her. If we're doing this, I'll need to get word to my lieutenant," Nori said thoughtfully. "I told him once the documenting of the artifacts was complete, to go to the Sixth Division to inform them about the artifacts we recovered."
Ryo raised a finger to her chin. "Captain Kuchiki must still be told about this. But - " Ryo lowered her hand and looked to the Captain sitting across from her. "But, tell him that the artifacts were found days ago. They were verified and the culprits have been detained."

Nori frowned slightly, her skepticism evident. “And what exactly would that achieve? Lying about the timeline or the progress—what purpose would it serve against our invaders?” She leaned forward, her tone sharp but measured. “If anything, wouldn’t it risk tipping our hand and drawing unnecessary attention before we’re ready to act?”
"Captain Kuchiki isn't our enemy." replied Ryo as she leaned back in her seat. "This is simply to keep him at bay...For just a while. Like we said earlier, if allowed, Kuchiki will take over. This, at least, gives us time to figure things out before it's taken out of our hands."
Nori considered the suggestion for a moment before nodding. “Hmm,” she murmured thoughtfully. “I’ll speak with him after I’ve talked to my lieutenant. That way, we’re all aligned and clear on the details of this plan.”

Ryo tapped a finger on the arm of her chair. "In the meantime, if you need assistance comparing records to inventory, let me know. The more eyes the better." There was another silence between the two women before Ryo spoke again.
"Captain, be honest with me...Do you have an idea of who may have done this?"
"Off the record?" Nori asked, watching Ryo’s slow nod. “With this Robin Hood group causing chaos lately…” She paused, her eyes narrowing. “I think it’s them. How they got the artifacts, though—that’s the real mystery.”
The Robin Hood group...How strange. "The Robin Hood group...Strange that they take their name from a work of fiction from the Human Realm. That aside, let's put an end to this quickly."
"From my understanding it was the Sixth Division that is calling them that." Nori shrugged. "I am not to sure if that is truly the title they go by."
Ryo smiled. "Of course...So, we have a plan then. You meet with Koriyama then Kuchiki. And, we both will take inventory. You'll keep me updated, yes?"

Nori rose to her feet with a slow nod. “Yes, I’ll keep you updated. Hopefully, Lieutenant Kira and the others will have the artifact inventory completed soon. I’ll have it sent over as soon as it’s in my hands.”
She moved toward the door but paused with her hand on the handle, glancing back. “Have we covered everything, Captain?”"I believe so." Ryo nodded. "I'll keep an eye out for your report." Nori nodded on last time before she opened the door, "have a good day Captain. I will be in touch." The door closed behind Nori and she was gone from the third Division office building.~End RP~
