Suigetsu was trying to behave. She really was. The mention of Byakuya Kuchiki nearly made her face split into a shit eating grin at the warning of telling him about what Suigetsu had done. She wasn't at all scared of Kuchiki. Maybe she should have been, but she just couldn't bring herself to fear or be wary of someone with that big of a stick so far up his back end. Did she respect him? Absolutely. But she also didn't care if he thought she was the biggest pain in the ass in all of the Noble houses. Maybe even more so than Tsukiro Ashimitsu. And that thought just tickled her pink.
But when Hirabayashi added on that she really would rather not deal with Kuchiki, the cork Suigetsu had placed in the running faucet that was her mouth came popping out with a loud, raucous laughter. She folded her hands over her stomach and tossed her head back, laughing. "Gods forbid we tattle on each other to that man. I think I'd rather get a lobotomy." Suigetsu leaned to one side in her chair, propping her elbow on the arm and resting her cheek against her closed fist. She grinned at Hirabayashi. "Alright, I will admit that my personal priorities got in the way of my better judgment. My bad on that one. So how about we agree that I won't step on your toes again and you help me keep Byakuya Kuchiki out of Koriyama business?"

Ryo chuckled with a nod. "I care nothing for the supercilious antics of the noble houses. As you undoubtedly know, I am of a lesser house. And, that has afforded me certain things. But, unlike my brother, I stay as far away from the ongoings of noble things as I can." Ryo rolled her eyes as she shifted in her seat and folded her hands in her lap. "If you wish for information to disappear or to become nothing but a whisper, then I urge to speak with the other half of the Hirabayshi coin, my brother Omezo...Who will, with every fiber of his being, deny that I am his sister."
"I didn't know you had a brother."
"Mostly because I would rather not have one..."

"Hmm," Suigetsu hummed, not commenting one way or the other. She had the privilege of experiencing being both an only child and a sibling in her life. She also had the privilege of having siblings whom loved her dearly. Sibling rivalry and estrangement was not a race she had a horse in.
She folded her hands behind her head, leaning back in her chair. "Well. I am a noble, not by birth, but by adoption, so I know more than anyone how ridiculous noble politics can be. Ironic considering the position I somehow landed myself in. I have no need for your family's services. I only wish to know what you know regarding my family's affairs. Has our dear Fuu told you anything about the nature of her work for me?"

"Unfortunately, Koriyama, that I will be keeping what I know to myself." Ryo locked eyes with the woman sitting on the other side of her desk. "And, please...Think more of me. This is not to leverage anything. But, to keep Ayumu safe. Even now...We don't know who may be lurking." Ryo gave a smirk before shaking her head.
"What I need of you, is a promise to keep Ayumu safe. I told her that I would step in before any harm came to her. And, I mean it."
Suigetsu leaned forward, elbows on her knees, and smiled. It was a friendly smile but also one of warning. Not to Hirabayashi but to anyone who dared to try and bring harm to Ayumu. "Oh, don't worry. She is perfectly safe with us. Messing with her while she is under my care would not be a wise choice for anyone. Not a hair on her head will be out of place. On that you have my word."
"Thank you." Ryo smiled and nodded. "Another thing...How do you plan on compensating her for her time and trouble?"

Suigetsu's smile grew into a wide smirk that would put the Cheshire cat to shame. "Very handsomely of course~ Maybe I should offer her enough to tempt her into making her temporary dismissal permanent?" At the flash of fire in Hirabayashi's eyes, Suigetsu laughed and waved her hand dismissively. "I'm joking. My days of theft are long behind me, and I'd rather you and I be on good terms. But she will be compensated appropriately."
"Good." Ryo nodded again. She reached beneath her desk. She found the hidden button on the bottom side of her desk. There was a click and a draw opened. She gathered the papers on Ayumu's dismissal and put them in the drawer. She looked at Koriyama with a smile. Then, with a wink, she closed the door. "We're both making sure that she is fairly compensated..."
A smirk of amusement pulled at one side of Suigetsu's mouth. Her teeth flashed as her grin grew. She pointed at Hirabayashi. "See. I knew I'd like you. Who says water and fire don't mix?" She stood up swiftly and stretched, raising her arms and bowing her back. "Well, looks to me like I owe you dinner for keeping my shenanigans quiet." She stood up straight and smiled warmly at Hirabayashi. "Thanks for your time. I'll be on my way now before my poor fiance sends out a search party for me."

Ryo laughed as she thought about how quickly Sajin would go on the hunt for her if she failed to show when she said. "I completely understand. Captain Komamura wouldn't need a search party. He would rip the Gotei apart all on his own to find me." Ryo went quiet for a moment. "Suigetsu, I need something more from you before you go."
"And, what is that?"
"Ayumu's love for the Seireitei Communication is...Well, I think she loves it more than Hisagi. If you truly want to compensate her, find a way to fund the Communication so that it may somewhat stand on its own."

Suigetsu gave a heavy sigh and nodded. "Well. There's not much I can do by way of the politics and legal hoops involved in making the Seireitei Communication independent, but if it's funding you need, then I can help with that until I'm blue in the face. You have my word that the Koriyamas will sponsor the Seireitei Communication." Suigetsu smirked at her. "Suisenro would kick my ass if I let it start to decline. He misses working on the papers. I know he does."
She gave another stern nod. "I will ask around and do some lobbying. See if I can convince some other clans to sponsor the paper as well. Provided they aren't looking for political allies in exchange for their money. I'll find you some honest sponsors."

"Thank you." said Ryo with a smile. She often felt bad when it came to how she felt about the Communications. She was sure that she was the only Captain, since the communications inception, that did not participate in its creation. It needed to be in more capable hands. Hisagi...Ayumu... "Is there anything else you...want to know?" asked Ryo. "Oh, there's plenty I want to know," Suigetsu chuckled. "But you wanted to keep your secrets. So I'll let it go... for now." Suigetsu made for the door with a wave over her shoulder. "I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship, Ryo~ See you around." She teased as she headed out the door. Ryo chuckled as Koriyama left her office, sliding the door closed behind her. "Well...Sajin will be happy to know that I've made a friend." She felt better though, now being able to put a face to the eyes watching Ayumu. She was still rather upset about how it was handled. But, there was nothing to be done about it now. She sighed at the next series of thoughts that flooded her mind....Her brother... END RP "Time Together" |

Bleach Unrated: REBOOTEDCurrent Arc: The ChaosEpisode 544 "The Two Captains": Toshiro walked through the Ninth Division, heading to the Captains office. When his lieutenant told him that "Captain Komamura" wanted to see him, Kugo didn't specify which Komamura he meant. He assumed he meant the Mrs given that Ryo Hirabayashi was his former captain. He wasn't quite sure what she wanted to talk to him about. He had a suspicion it might have been about Kugo, but he couldn't think of what the subject would be.
Regardless, here he was.
He walked up to the door and knocked, waiting to hear Hirabayashi announce his entry before walking in.
"Enter," he heard her call from the other side.
Toshiro walked in to see Hirabayashi sitting at her desk pouring over some files. "Captain Hirabayashi," he greeted her, walking up to her desk. "Is good to see you. I hope I'm not barging in at a bad time." |

Ryo smiled from her desk. "No! Not at all!" Ryo stood from her desk and walked over to the small Captain. She reached out, grabbing him by the collar of his haori and pulled him close to her. "It's good to see you, Captain Hitsugaya." she whispered as she embraced him. Ryo looked the boy over as she pulled away from their embrace. "You look well."
Ryo meant what she said. The Captain did look well. But he also seemed sad. "How did your time away go?" Ryo sat down in one of the chair in front of her desk and signaled for Hitsugaya to take the seat beside her.

Hitsugaya blinked rapidly from the small woman's--or at least now she seemed small--hug. It took him by such surprise that he wasn't quite sure what she was talking about for a second. "Uh... yes. It was... fine..." He coughed and took the seat she gestured to. Oh. Right. He was gone for a month. That's what she meant. He sobered himself and answered her properly. "It went well. I actually... took my third seat with me. You see, she was in a distressed state when I went to look for her before I left. I thought maybe some time away from the chaos of the Seireitei would do her some good."
Hitsugaya sighed and shook his head. "I'm... not sure how much our month of training helped, but she did not seem as jumpy when it was over. She expressed her desire to return to her post, so I allowed her on the contingency that if I became concerned about her wellbeing and her ability to perform her duties, I would have to put her on a leave of absence again." He sighed heavily, shaking his head and pushing the hair out of his face. "Your former officer has proven to be a huge help to me. Kugo has proved himself to be a very capable lieutenant. Though I am rather regretful that Tenth Division fell on his shoulders this past month. I've expressed my desire to make it up to him."

"Korin is extremely reliable." Ryo nodded and folded her hands in her lap. "I would say with him, you have yourself a mini Hisagi. And, that is someone every Lieutenant should strive to be like." Ryo's smile faded a little. She owed Hisagi more than she had given him since their return. She began to make amends with the suggestion of the nobles to sponsor the Communications.
"So..." Ryo tucked her hair behind her ear. "What brings you by?"

Hitsugaya blinked at her for the second time. She... didn't know. She didn't know why he was here. "Uh... well, speaking of Kugo. He told me you wanted to see me. He didn't specify why." He sighed and shook his head, face palming. "But... he also didn't specify that it was you either. He said 'Captain Komamura' and I figured since he was your officer he meant you... It seems I was mistaken in my assumptions."
Ryo nodded. "Sajin. The man has been asking about the petite icy Captain since you took leave. He worries about you." She smiled warmly. "He was excited to hear that you're back."
Hitsugaya chuckled and couldn't help but let a small smile break through. "I take offense to 'petite', but I'm flattered he was so concerned. I will pay him a visit soon, but if you happen to see him first--which I'm sure you will--you can let him know I appreciate the concern and I am doing well."

Ryo nodded. "I will let him know, if I see him before you. But, you should stop by his office. He would appreciate it." Ryo rose from her seat and walked around her desk. "Or, we could have you for dinner. Maybe you could babysit the twins so the Captain and I could have a night to ourselves." Ryo smirked know that he would not be willing to take on the challenge of the Komamura twins.
"Now," Ryo sat in the chair behind her desk. "How did you time away go?"

Hitsugaya visibly flinched and felt his skin turn white hot with anxiety and embarrassment. He raised his hands and shook his head so fast his hair flew every which way. "I assure you I am highly unqualified for such a responsibility. But if there's any other way I can lessen the burden, I would be happy to help." When Hirabayashi laughed at him he huffed a sigh, realizing she was messing with him.
"In any case, the training went... alright. I didn't achieve my goal, but I did gain a new sense of perspective. I've been trying to force my powers back into being--force the connection with Hyorinmaru. But I don't think that's the answer." Hitsugaya lifted his hand and clenched it into a fist. "I will get Hyorinmaru back. I will find a way. I am not spending the rest of my life as a Soul Reaper without my partner."
