"You speak wisely, Captain Hirabayashi, but any preparations can wait until after the meeting," the captain commander murmured. "There are changes and potential threats that you do not know about yet."

Sajin huffed. "Then, perhaps it should happen now. And, not a few days time." He slammed his hand to the floor with a thud. "I would rather not see any of us fall because we were unprepared." He looked to Ryo, worry and concern clouded her face. "But, you do know best, Captain Commander."

"Patience, Captain Komamura," Shunsui said. "I do not want to see any more losses on our side either, but if I rush the meeting, we risk not covering all we may or may not need to. In addition," he looked to Ryo, "I would like to have our baby captain's test complete so he may join us at that meeting. Both things take time, old friend. Even if we don't want them to."

Ryo slid her arms into the sleeves of her haori. "I understand, Captain Commander. But, Tsukiro Ashimitsu's test is complete. All that is left for me to do, is to deliver my report to you." She raised a brow before turning towards the door. "I suppose this counts. Or, would you rather have a more formal report?"
"We need all the strength we can muster." said Komamaru folding his arms again. "I hope you did not appoint a child a Captain, Captain Hirabayashi, just to fill ranks."
Ryo turned towards Komamaru and looked at him with narrowed eyes. "How dare you accuse me of simply filling ranks! How would that help, Captain Komamaru?"
The Captain Commander raised his hand, silencing them both.

“I do not believe Captain Hirabayashi would simply fill the ranks, Sajin, and if there was such a flaw, I would stop it.” The Captain Commander lowered his hand. “The boy is young, yes, but that did not stop Yamamoto Sensei from appointing Hitsugaya-kun. I am sure you have no complaints with him.” The captain of the seventh division remained quiet. Shunsui waited for a moment longer before facing both of them. “His evaluation is complete, Captain Hirabayashi, but we still have the traditional test. Captain Komamura, since you are cautious of appointing Ashimitsu, I am appointing you as the second captain for his test. Do not tire either of yourselves out completely."
He folded his arms. “I declare that this will happen in two days’ time. That will be a short notice for everyone, but you are correct. Time is relative and may not be in our favor. While you are testing our baby captain, I will gather the others. And there, both the shopkeeper and I will discuss our current hand at this war. Any objections?"

Sajin growled lowly at being appointed to test the new captain. But, had no objections. "None, Captain Commander." He looked to Ryo, her eyes still narrowed at him. "I hope you prepared him well, Captain Hirabayashi." She said nothing.
"Captain Commander, is there anything else you need from me? I have been absent for some time, now. I am sure there is some catching up to do." Sajin stood and walked over to his desk. "I need to reach out to my lieutenant, so that I may be prepare for the Captain's meeting."

"At the moment, I think it would be best for you to see what your lieutenant can tell you and then acquaint yourself with the new captains. You should know your companions in war better than your weapons, I believe." He headed back out of the office.
"Captain Hirabayashi, I will still need that report. Even Captain Commanders can't escape paperwork, and when this session is done, I will join you in a drink for your good work." He waved his hand but paused at the door.
"Sajin, I have one more task for you. When Juushiro returns from Karakura Town, I want your opinion as to his health. I have Isane doing such as well, but as one who relies heavily on his natural instincts, any of your thoughts on that matter will be useful as well." He lowered his head. "He's never been one good at separating his feelings from his duties, and though it is a part we would never change about him, I am not going to let the enemies use that weakness to hurt him... and us."

"A drink with Captain Hirabayashi." he smiled at the Captain Commander. "We should all be so lucky." Hirabayashi hid her smile as she made her exit from his office. "I have been absent during his testing. If it is all the same to you, I would like to gather a bit of information on this baby captain of yours."

Shunsui chuckled. "Then in addition to talking with this fair lady captain, you might consider talking to Soi Fong and Juushiro's fourth seat, Namori. They should give you a good round opinion on the kid before you butt heads with him."

"I will not headbutt the child, Captain Commander. It would most certainly kill him." Sajin chuckled. "I will speak with the other Captains about Ashimitsu." He walked around to the chair behind his desk and rested his hand on the back of it. "Captain Hirabayashi told me that he is already the head of the Stealth Force. Are you sure making him a captain would be a wise choice? He already has quite a bit to do, for someone so young."

Shunsui grinned. “A captain of the eighth division has to be good at balancing a lot of different goals. Adding the Stealth Force as a piece of that wide-ranged division will only add to its power and ability to support the other divisions. Soi Fong gave him control there and he’s started making changes; however, he didn’t want to stop there.” He chuckled and turned to his captains. “If he’s ready, who am I to stop a young boy from his aspirations? We all grow up at different times.”

Sajin nodded. "Then, I am honored to be the one to test this Ashimitsu. I hope he does well." He rubbed his right ear. "I suppose I have quite a bit before me. But, I am more than up to the task." He pulled the chair from beneath his desk. "If you will excuse me, Captain Commander."

Shunsui nodded. "Welcome back, old fox. Your strength will be a glad support to our troops." He tilted his hat at him then left the area in one smooth step of shunpo.

"A Match Between Equals":Captain Byakuya Kuchiki entered the seventh division a couple days after Captain Komamura had defeated Ashimitsu with a purposeful stride. Judging by the silence over Seireitei, the boy had passed his test and would be joining the select few as a captain. Kuchiki would decide for himself after he met him there. From what he had seen so far, the boy was lacking. Still, that did not mean he could not attempt to reach the heavens. He closed his eyes. That is what humanity in all forms reached for. But that wasn't his purpose today. Opening his eyes, Byakuya knocked on the door to the captain's office.

Sajin walked up behind Kuchiki, as he knocked on the door of his office. "Captain Kuchiki." He looked down at his fellow Captain before bowing. "It has been quite some time. To what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?"
