Ryo smiled. "It is my job to know these things, Sajin." Goro, Sajin's dog, hopped onto her lap. She pet him gently as she continued. "According to records, Tervaden was well on his way to being great Captain. As great as Kuchiki or the Ukitake. Maybe Kyoraku himself." Shaking her head, she sighed. "That night, he slaughtered nearly every man under his command...On his own...And, after all of that, he still had the strength to take on Captain Ukitake." Ryo looked to Sajin, who's grip on the handles of his chair nearly broke them. "Why not just kill him?"

"The Knight grew ill." answered Sajin. He rose from his seat and walked over to the nearby window. "Had he not, I still do not believe he would have taken Tervaden's life. He is far too kind a man, to kill one of his own." Sajin plucked a yellow flower from his window and walked over to where Hirabayashi was sitting. Gently placing the flower in her hair, he leaned over and kissed the top of her head.
"I am a gentle man, Ryo. But, if he ever came for you, I would not hesitate to kill him."

Ryo smiled and rose from her seat, pushing Goro from her lap. She stood on her toes, as he leaned down for her to place a gentle kiss on his lips. "I think the puppy is fond of me."
Sajin gave a toothy grin, picking up Ryo and setting her to his shoulder. "Maybe. But, I admit nothing."
Ryo laughed as she held tightly to his haori. "Captain Hitsugaya has been back for a few days, now. I think I will go speak with him, later." She looked down at him. "But first..."

"First, you must tend to this Captain." Another toothy grin formed on Sajin's lips, as he walked them to a back room of his office."I don't think I have time for that, Sajin." "Of course you do." Sajin slid the door closed to the back room, but not before Goro could scurry in. A few moments later, Sajin slid the door back open and tossed the puppy out. He slid the door closed again, as Goro circled in front of the door.

"Taking the Next Step":Sajin woke to find Ryo sleeping soundly nestled against his arm. He moved slowly as to not wake her. Covering her with Captain's haori, he smiled warmly and left a kiss on her cheek. Sajin rose and dressed himself, then left his office for a night time stroll...Moved

Bleach Unrated: REBOOTEDCurrent Arc: Deep RenewalEpisode 328 "The Wolf and the Tiger": Sajin paced the floor of his office. It seemed smaller than usual today. He mumbled to himself as he read over the candidates list for a Lieutenant. There were many good candidates. Most were from other division. There was one from his own, Ippei Fujiyama. According to records, Fujiyama had spent more time in the Academy than a normal candidate would. He finally joined ranks when most of the Captains had been taken and the number of men and women in each division began to shrink.
Walking over to his desk, Sajin sat in his chair. He hummed low as he looked to his trusted companion, Goro. "What are we going to do?" Goro's ears perked up at the sound of his voice. Sajin looked at his list again as he hummed in thought. There was a knock at the door.

"Captain Komamura." Ippei slid the door open and took a step in. He held his arms down by his sides and lowered himself into a bow. "I was informed that you seek an audience with me, sir." His voice was soft and unassuming. His ears flat and his tail was wagging low. Ippei was unsure of why his Captain had called him to his office.
"Yes." Sajin rose from his seat and welcomed the shy tiger into his office. The boy was almost as tall as he was. And, his form reminded him very much of what he once was. "Please, come in and have a seat."
Ippei nodded and did as his Captain instructed. But, the chair was too small for him. So, he stood in front of his Captain's desk with his arms held against his side. "Forgive me, Captain Komamura. The chair is too small..." His words trailed off as if he had suddenly become embarrassed.

Sajin looked at the boy sternly before laughing loudly. "No need to beg forgiveness. Much in the Soul Society is made without beings of our stature in mind. If you find it better, I will stand with you while we speak." The boy nodded. "Very well." Sajin rose to his feet. "I'll get to the matter at hand."
"Captain."
"I need a Lieutenant, Fujiyama."
Ippei's tail, still low, began wagging a bit quickly. "And, you are considering me?"
"Yes, I am." Sajin looked at the boy as he lowered his gaze and head. "Fujiyama? What troubles you?"

Ippei rested a paw to the hilt of his blade. "I am not qualified to serve as your Lieutenant, Sir." His voice was somehow lower than when he first spoke. "I am grateful for your consideration. But -"
"But, your confidence is nearly nonexistent because of your outward appearance? You fear that because of it, people will not follow you." Sajin watched as the boy's body language suggested he wished to retreat. He raised a hand. "Ippei, you and I are more alike than you know. I was not always fortunate enough to have a human form."
Ippei's ears lifted slightly as he listened to his Captain. "What do you mean?"
Sajin sighed. "You, the tiger." Walking over to the boy, Sajin placed a gentle hand to the boy's shoulder. "I, the wolf."
"Sir?"

"Yes, I hail from a line of strong wolves. We once had the ability to change back and forth; human and wolf. But, we lost ourselves and became unable to change back to our human forms. I grew up hating what I was. I hid from it. I hid it from the world. It took former Captain Tosen to free me from that thinking."
"But, how is it that you have come to look like this?"
"My clan's humanization technique. It involved removing the heart." He tapped the metal plate over his chest with the tip of his index finger. "I tell you this about me, Fujiyama, because I want you to know that I understand. But, I will not let you turn down this advancement because you have - as the Lady Captain Komamura would say - a bit of fur and sharp teeth."

Ippei looked at his Captain with wide eyes. "Sir? I...I...."
"Fujiyama, do me a favor, if you must." Sajin looked down at the boy. "Go see Coda in the human realm. You have my permission. See what she thinks of this."
"How do you know of Coda, Sir?"
Sajin smiled as he rubbed the back of his head. "I know because I must, Fujiyama. It is my job to know these things." He turned and sat on the edge of his desk with his arms folded over his chest.
Ippei nodded and agreed. "I would very much like to see Coda, Sir. That is, before I give my answer."

Sajin nodded and pushed himself off of his desk. "Very well then. I will give you just two days to get back to me with a decision. After that, I will move onto the next candidate. But, Fujiyama,""Yes sir?" Ippei looked to his Captain. "You are the best candidate on this list. You would be doing yourself a great disservice by turning this advancement down."Ippei nodded. "I understand, Captain Komamura. You will have my answer in two days time, Sir.""Thank you." Sajin returned to behind his desk and sat in his seat. "You make take your leave, Fujiyama." Sajin watched as the boy nodded and quickly turned on the balls of his feet. The boy walked to the door, turned and bowed again before leaving. Sajin hummed lowly, hoping that the boy would accept his offer. But, he was unsure of what he would do. Sajin looked to Goro.
